Sanak Retreat Bali: "One of the most beautiful places I have stayed in"
"We chose to come to this area of Bali with our adult children hoping for some quiet and beautiful scenery- and that is exactly what we got. This beautiful resort offers exactly this in the way the resort has been designed among a backdrop of rice paddies and mountains. This place is absolutely stunning. I loved the way the doors opened out on all sides to let the breeze in. It is best to have a villa with a balcony to capture the views- both sunrise and sunset. The service was great from all staff. The meals were good. Pool wonderful. Highly recommend for adults...young children i feel could spoil the serenity for others."The Island Lodge: "Best"
Best hotel we stayed in in our 14 day travel. Delicious food and a nice staff would've been improved if there had been more people but that's a natural effect of not being in season. The breakfast was good for Europeans it's like a European island...great managersTandjung Sari: "Friendly and helpful to our group of eight!"
"We - an extended family group - ended up eating here two nights running. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and provided us a table at short notice. The food was excellent on both occasions and the service charming. The structure of the restaurant is atmospheric and traditional with pipes and piano being played at various stages. We were grateful to the staff who allowed us to have a shower on the second visit before we ate- particularly appreciated as we had been on the beach all day and our next stop was Denpasar Airport for a prolonged flight programme to London Heathrow."Dewakan: "A star on the fine dining stage of Malaysia"
Let me go straight to the point. We went here mid October and tried Dewakan's 17 course menu, one regular and one vegetarian (available upon request when you make your reservation). They dealt with the vegetarian request so, so well. The kitchen created completely new dishes that they'd never had on the menu before - razor clams, squid, red snapper, mushroom tarts, you name it. All presented and explained really well. Lots of delicious courses on both menus. The highlights were the duck (roasted to perfection), the lowland vegetables, the prawn umai, the mango curry and the slow cooked red snapper. The rice porridge with razor clams was also a pleasant surprise (served with ox tongue on the non-vegetarian menu). The service was great and the venue is nice and stylish. Dewakan is a little off track, probably a 35-45 mins drive from KLCC, but it's so worth it! Next time (because we will come back), I also hope there are sweet wines/ dessert wines available by the glass too. Cannot wait!Villa Song: "Asia trip"
My mom really loves this place. And she wants to make reservation here when we come back at Christmas. This place looks like a castle, very charming and I’m overwhelmed. By the way, it’s really expensiveMrauk U Princess Resort: "Rustic, Romantic, and Real"
"Mrauk-U ended up being a highlight of our trip to Myanmar. Unapologetic for what it is, this is not a resort for the picky. It is rough around the edges, and it does seem priced beyond its means. And yet, in the end we were so happy we stayed here. If you are considering splurging on this little gem, then it helps to release any unrealistic expectations. The rooms are rustic, imperfect, sexy, and luxurious. Loved the spacious bathroom area with double vanity, separate tub and shower. Found the king bed to be super comfy and slept well. This is a great resort for couples. If you ask for a room with king bed, you will get flower petals strewn every evening. Being surrounded by lotus ponds in rustic charm make for a super romantic excursion. Feels like a retreat. No TVs on premises and poor WiFi. It helps to have a local SIM card for internet—indispensable for Google maps used for sightseeing. We rented the rickety hotel bicycles each day and loved it. Staff is fabulous, friendly, warm, and kind. The kitchen serves probably the best food you can eat in Mrauk U (other than in someone’s home). The prices are also surprisingly reasonable. Eat as much Rakhine food as you can while here and they can make you Rakhine noodle soup for breakfast if you order a day in advance. The setting is remarkable, away from the town and in its own village. It is great fun riding the resort’s rickety old bicycles through the village, into Mrauk U town, and around the ruins. We did this two days in a row and loved it. Recommend you start early as possible around dawn because it gets hot in the afternoon. Also recommend using GPS/Google Maps. You can make a large circuit of the ruins in one day but two is better. We stayed three nights and it was perfect. We did not do excursion to Chin villages. I have it on good word that the local owner of the resort gives back to the community, if that helps encourage you to stay. You can get here by car or boat from Sittwe. We picked this resort to avoid having to deal with the government boat schedule and having to spend the night in Sittwe. As of writing this, the resort does not list the prices for its airport transfer (boat from Sittwe) on their website. The price for two people is over $500 r/t. This was shocking to me at first because you can take local transport for a fraction of the cost ($40 per person-ish r/t on the govt boat). However, you would have to stay overnight in Sittwe and it would be a hassle. It seems silly saying this, but if you can afford to stay here at all, it is worth paying for their transfer service. The price stings a little but it is so worth it. The resort has its own boat jetty, and your transport to/from Sittwe is as easy as can be. It’s a really fab ride and infinitely more comfortable than any other way of getting here. They actually cook for you on board (great food). Plus you can arrange to come out here without having to overnight in Sittwe in either direction. That means liberating time to do other stuff in Myanmar and enjoying a silky smooth journey to remote Mrauk U. Overall I would not have wanted to stay anywhere else in town and strongly recommend staying here if you have an inner princess to please. When you come with an open mind and heart, your perspective can be transformed and you may come to enjoy it as much as we did."4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Relaxing and 100% natural environment"
Resort is located at the river, you can feel the movement of the stream. As it is surrounded by forest, you can enjoy sound of birds/insects/other animals. Service is excellent, staff is nice and helpful. Luz,the resort manager, introduces all facilities in the resort in very clear way. You can ask her any questions about the resort and she will kindly answer you all. There are no air-cons in the whole resort ,Fans are provided in the lodges and there is breeze,so you will feel very comfortable without any hot feelings. Food provided is mainly western style, taste is ok. Atmosphere of the restaurant is nice , guitar songs(recorded) are played in the restaurant area. You can enjoy swimming, fishing and canoeing in the resort. There are several tours provided in the resort e.g. Tatai waterfall, sunset tour etc. I have chosen trekking in Cardamom mountains areas. It will cost you around 8hrs but you can explore in a rain forest. If you are lucky, you can meet some wildlife during the tour. WiFi is not provided by the resort during my stay,so I have bought a 4G data card by myself in airport , it is from metphone(ISP), signal is downgraded to 2G in the resort area , but it is already enough for whatspp, skype and email. Luz said WiFi will be provided by resort very soon.Tugu Bali: "Hidden paradise"
Tugu Bali is a magical place, with fabulous staff and great food. Breakfast is exquisite! Everything makes you feel as a guest in a large warm welcoming house and not like a standard hotel guest. This was the second time my wife and i spent a few days and we will gladly return to enjoy the peaceful rest and the nice massages. A place to bring your loved ones!SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "If I could give 6 stars i would"
"We had heard that the Swiss owners of this restaurant, with their Michelin star history had created something special, but this was beyond our high expectations. The setting is romantic and set off on a beautiful lake. The building was redone to hip minimalist beautiful décor. The food was out of this world. Service was impeccable. The owners have even sought out hard to find wines and serve at reasonable prices to fit any budget. The restaurant is not cheap for Myanmar standards, but a third of the price you would pay in Europe or the U.S. for food that is in a word...memorable. The chef and his lovely wife both came to the table and their watchful eye was on every detail. Although Michelin tends to be giving stars for micro-cuisine, this is a finer restaurant than most multi-Michelin star restaurants that we have frequented. You know, that feeling that each course is perfect and you don't want it to end. The only thing sad about this review, is being in Yangon we can't just go back there next week!!! This is a restaurant that you will use as a standard by which to compare others."Dewakan: "Was a little skeptical about French cuisine in Malaysia but with chef Darren Teoh – WOW!"
"My sister had booked a birthday dinner for me at Dewakan restaurant- French cuisine with local Malaysian ingredients. Hmmm... I rather have local food, I told her. The reservation is booked & she had given the deposit to ensure the dinner reservation.... sigh... ok... let's try. The restaurant was located at Shah Alam at a school... as for parking, tell the security guard that you are going to the restaurant- there is ample parking as everyone has left the college Ambience- Nice tasteful decor Service- Attentive & Impeccable We had tapa size courses, 12 courses I think. Each course is carefully explained. We even had chef Darren who came out himself to explain the dish to us. At each place setting- you have a menu that tells you the order of the courses. All interesting- there are a couple of ingredients that I would not have tried however it was done in such a way that it was palatable & enjoyable. There are many courses that is just simply WOW! At the end of the meal... I apologized to my sister & thank her for the great recommendation Check their website- apparently the menu does change."
