Nimmu House: "The perfect place"
We chose to end in Nimmu House a rather full program of trekking and touring in Ladakh. We couldn't be happier with this choice. Our heads full of memories to process, we were given space, the beautiful apple and apricots orchards, the relaxing terrasse, our own luxury tent, and time, no rush for anything, to digest all we had done so far and also the idea that we would have to leave soon. The old house is beautiful. It is being restored with great attention and respect for locale traditions. The staff is very kind and extremely helpfull and the food is fresh and delicious! The perfect place ...Tugu Malang: "Fantastic experience"
"Loved basically everything about this hotel. The room was luxurious. Bed was big and soft, the bathtub was large enough, the room itself was the right size, and everything on that end was great. Amenities were also wonderful. There was a tasty fruit basket in my room when I arrived, there was a complimentary tea service which was extraordinary, live music (a local band) played in the evening and was excellent to listen to, and more. My favorite amenity was the tour of the hotel's extensive artifact collection; it was fascinating to see all the different sculptures, paintings, and architectural details. The food was good. I particularly enjoyed the grilled satay (both chicken and lamb) and the extensive breakfast spreads. The complimentary pastries upon checking out were also great. The grounds themselves, including the pool, were very nice. My only complaint was flaky and slow wifi. But otherwise, my stay was absolutely perfect. Would definitely stay again. Stayed March 2017, traveled solo"Neeleshwar Hermitage: "I’d give it six stars if I could!"
Stayed for seven nights in January 2017 after a mammoth ‘Golden Triangle’ tour in the north. In summary, I’d have to say that it’s a beautiful, relaxing hotel made extra special by the staff, who were unfailingly happy, welcoming and helpful. The resort itself would best be described as barefoot luxury - this isn’t a place to come and dress up for dinner, and all the better for it. If you want to truly relax in beautiful surroundings with attentive staff, this is the place for you. As we’ve moved to another so-called 5-star resort not 45 minutes away, we’ve begun to appreciate the Neeleshwar’s unique brand of laid-back, relaxing luxury even more. The rooms themselves are lovely - spacious, full of natural materials (including a coconut palm in your open-air bathroom!). I agree with other reviews that suggest tea-making facilities in the room would be beneficial, but the verandah service also meant that you could phone for tea/coffee and it was delivered to your verandah in minutes - at a cost of around 400 rupees/£4.50 for two people, often accompanied by cake or cookies, so the hotel is certainly not over-charging for the service. The grounds are beautiful - it truly is like walking through a tropical jungle to get to the pool/beach. The pool is stunning - large, quiet, plenty of loungers, no noise! Food in the two restaurants was faultless. Try the aloo gobi, if available - it certainly shames the mush we get served in Indian restaurants in the UK. The spa and treatments were both excellent, and reasonably priced. Again, the spa is not one of these with annoying chill-out music on a perpetual loop, but total silence - so peaceful! There are some local attractions, but we found it hard to pull ourselves away from the place - the furthest we ventured was an hour on the complimentary bikes to visit the fishermen hauling in their catch. Please also visit the shop early on in your visit - it’s not one of those typical hotel gift shops selling tat, but it actually has some really nice, reasonably priced items that you’d actually want to buy. Not to mention a tailor sitting there amongst bolts of material, happy to run up anything from a pattern or your measurements as you choose the fabric. Go visit - you won’t be sorry, and we usually avoid this type of thing like the plague. My final comments are reserved for the staff - I don’t know how they select them, or what training goes into making them what they become, or whether they’re all just naturally lovely people (probably), but they’re probably the nicest staff we have ever come across, and you can see by my reviews that we’ve stayed in some world-class hotels (I offer this just as a comparison, not a boast!) - these are the nicest people we’ve ever met in a hotel situation, and they go out of their way to ensure you have a peaceful, happy break.REVERIE SIAM: "A wonderful escape"
"We stayed 2 nights in the family villa and absolutely loved it. The thought and style put into the room was obvious from the cool little pieces or art to the location of plenty of power points and towel racks. Staff was fantastic and the included breakfast far exceeded our expectations. Also the little things, like a cell phone for our use while in town and the free shuttle service from the property to town were greatly appreciated and showed us a new level of customer service. We stayed during low season so the rate was very reasonable, if you can afford it, the value for money here is as good as I've ever had! "Mrauk U Princess Resort: "Excellent hotel resort"
"It's a long ride up river to Myauk U but worth it. The resort is a welcome sight when you get there. Rooms (or rather villa) are huge, almost a villa, in some interpretation of traditional style. Very relaxing with the lotus ponds. Staff are wonderful. The on-premise restaurant is very good. If you are not an early riser, ask for a room away from the river as the boats are noisy and start early. A few words of advice: Just don't take boxed food to go, or if you do, do not order the prawns."The Twelve Hotel: "Très bonne étape"
"Très bon accueil et très bel établissement! Rafraîchissement à l'arrivée, gentillesse et disponibilité en sus! Petit déjeuner extra (baguette, confiture de fruits de la passion et jolie salle) Enjoy"Tandjung Sari: "Feeling like a movie star in a book of Hemmingway"
The design, location and the architecture of Tandjung Sari is breathtaking, indulging you in to a mystical atmosphere and a feeling of being a movie star in another world. Each room has a sensual romantic air which captures you immediately. The wonderful staff and delicate food is just do make your stay un forgettable and a urging feeling to come back.Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "Second time incredible stay"
"We visited this lodge for the first time in 2012 and were so blown away by it's most loveliest and most competent staff, stunning location, wonderful food and wide range of acticities. In fact, everything was amazing. So, we decided to return. No doubt at all! And this place managed to blow us away again! Even after all the difficulties they faced since the earthquakes of 2015. We especially loved and still love the day hikes with, our now dear friend, Hari Bhandari. His knowledge of local people and culture, birds, plants, flowers, trees, butterflies etc. is impressive. Combine this with his modest, respectful and calm personality and you'll have the perfect guide. We will be back for sure!! Dear Marcus, Hari and all the staff members: thanks a million for another unforgettable stay!! Stayed March 2017, traveled as a couple"Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "This is an adventure not a hotel"
Arriving after mid day we were presented with a fantastic lunch, and then, after a short break taken out on the first of our four safaris. Noel has the inside running on the gig. He knows how to avoid the crowds and where the animals are likely to be (picking up on the signs most of us look past or do not hear). He goes straight to the front of the line at opening time for a first run on the empty roads (which animals also find it convenient to run along). Noel uses Land Cruisers with proper rounded off road tyres and adjusted suspensions, and provides high quality binoculars which adds to the experience. The food and service, no doubt reflecting Noel's experience in the airline industry, was of the highest standard. The tents are true safari camping tents - not glorified hotel rooms dressed up as a night under canvas ("glamping") - but still comfortable and very much fit for purpose. Note there are no promises about what you will or will not see. If you want a 100 per cent guarantee as to spotting a Leopard I recommend a zoo - otherwise embrace the adventure.Tugu Malang: "Beautiful with the extra effort"
"This hotel is not only beautiful and conveniently located close to the train station, but what makes it really worth recommending is the extra effort they make. The free afternoon tea and snacks, the hotel tour, the made-to-order grilled fish at the pool, a little coffee gift to take home, and many more. It was really great and you felt welcome every minute. They have plenty of different rooms, including very special ones, but as we had to leave early we just took a standard and that was already very good. For transport, a becak driver is usually hanging out outside the hotel - just check with the hotel how much you should pay in case you're not familiar with the usual prices. Fully recommended!"
