Villa Song Saigon: "Elegant throughout"
We stayed at the villa song hotel for two nights. It's a beautiful boutique hotel with tasteful decorations and outfits. We enjoyed the pool area very much. Service was excellent and staff were attentive. Breakfast was okay. The pho we had was too soft though but the food quality is still pretty nice overall. The only thing is we won't recommend it if you travel with elderly and young children. We got in at 3am with two young kids; they cried for bath and people next door were banging on the divided door complaining about our noise which we had hard time to control. One other minor complaint is the smell of the hotel. The sewage system of the pool area isn't designed well enough that from time to time there's off putting smell coming from the fence area. If they could fix that, the place is really a gem for couples!Sandat Glamping Tents: "WOW!! THE BEST HOTEL I’VE EVER STAYED IN!"
"Well what can I say, it was such an amazing experience I cried I was that overwhelmed. What beautiful, kind and caring people who actually meant it. Tengo the manager was by far my favourite who was so kind he made me cry at breakfast, I gave him the biggest hug when we left :) We was sadly only here for 3 days :( and had so much booked we didn't spend as much time at the hotel as we would of liked. I say hotel because it's far too lovely to be called glamping :) I had a yoga lesson first thing in the morning which was breath taking over looking the rice fields and a great teacher who corrected you when you were out of place. I also had a massage in my room which was the best massage I've ever had. We ate here twice and both times the food was superb along with their cocktails and wine and such a stunning setting, the owner really does have amazing taste, shabby chic but with immense attention to detail. The waitress's were also lovely and so sweet, would do anything for you. People moan about the location, but it clearly states it's not in the centre and offers a free shuttle bus which is basically a private taxi to 2 drop off points so really no need to moan there. We had a lovely driver one day who took us to the waterfall, holy temple and coffee plantation which I'd highly recommend. We got the shuttle to the monkey forest one day, if you're not scared do try and buy some bananas to feed them, it's a great experience when they jump on your shoulders, amazing creatures. The hotel offered to book the mount batur trip for us which is a MUST but i'd advise booking in the town, it's a quarter of the price and you get to do this with a group which is much more fun, keep in mind you have to be quite fit and there are no loos once you start climbing, but one of the best experiences of my life, incredible and breath taking views. Breakfast was beautifully laid out and they will cook you any eggs you like, omelette, pancakes, scrambled etc, some great healthy options too including bee polen for your cereal. Now if you are scared of creatures this place is not for you and they state that on their site, I loved it and really enjoyed the frogs hopping around and beautiful geckos, but they will be in your bathroom and may even visit at dinner, but hey this is why this is called glamping, you're in with nature and I think it's fantastic but like I said if if you're scared it's not for you. The rooms are out of this world with stunning furniture and outside bathroom and your pool which is shared or your own depending what you book is right outside your room which is great. I honestly can't express to you enough what an unbelievable experience this really was and was a sad moment to leave such a unique and beautiful place, I will defiantly return as Ubud completely stole a piece of my heart!"Le Passe-Temps: "A gem, timeless, perfect for a honeymoon"
The Pastime is our great discovery this year. Cozy, well located, with stunning views over the bay of Krabi, we were more than happy with my husband to a stage at Olivier and Kiet, the owners of Hobby, for a few days during our honeymoon. Their welcome was exemplary and friendly, the rooms are decorated with taste, the food is delicious and the proposed activities are varied, reasonably priced. The place is suitable also for great encounters with other travelers around an evening cocktail. In short, a little paradise that it was very difficult to leave! One thing is sure, if we go back to Thailand, we will not fail to iron home ..Maison Polanka: "Luxurious and subtle"
Maison Polanka has the kind of subtle elegance that never intrudes. It is beautiful, the rooms and grounds. It is intimate and yet private. You are totally taken care of in an unobtrusive way. And the food is excellent, some of the best we had in Southeast Asia. That said it seems excessive to say that the herbal massage I had (I had a chest cold) was an amazing experience. I reserved months in advance and it was totally worth it.The River Resort: "An Amazing Resort…we will definitely return!"
My husband, son and I stayed at the River Resort and the hotel and their staff went above and beyond to accommodate us! It was quiet and serene! The food was great! The internet was strong and fast. They have two pools, spa, and rooms overlooking the Mekong. And to top it off they gave us complimentary spa treatments, a sunset cruise, a bottle of wine and provided us with free transport to Wat Temple. Lastly, the service and staff were exceptional! This place is great for singles, couples, or families. We can't wait to return!Mie Cafe: "Wonderful experience!"
"A dinner in this restaurant was amazing! The food is interesting, very well presented, and creative! Clear that the chef knows what he is doing! It was a pleasure meeting him and have a little chat. Even the rain didn't ruin the experience, and may be made it even more special. Extremely recommended!"Cuisine Wat Damnak: "Excellent reasonably priced fine dining"
You must visit this place if you can afford to and can get a table; delicious food that is a cut above the rest, successfully fusing traditional Khmer cuisine with all sorts of other influences. Atmosphere can be a bit stuffy, mainly due to the type of customer it attracts, but come for the food and enjoy yourselves. Is actually good value given the quality of cooking when you compare with typical costs of other tourist oriented restaurants in town. We visited with young children and they were very accommodating doing the full menu with smaller portions for our 9 year old and some chicken fried rice for our 5 year old; both kids declared the food delicious and ate everything in sight. Some very good wines as well. We managed to get an outside table at quite short notice despite them saying they were fully booked for months; if you don't ask you don't get!Sukoon Houseboat: "Amazing View"
The rooms are clean and the well maintained. The bathrooms are very clean and don't even realise that you are on a house boat. The staff are very warm and welcoming . The food was good with variety. A must stay for a night !misool: "Even better the second time around"
"My wife and I first visited MER in 2013 (if interested, see my review dated July 9, 2013) and returned for our second visit in February of this year. Our observations: In the three years between visits, the fish life has continued to rebound in a remarkable fashion thanks to MER's No Take Zone and ranger patrols of that area. There is so much to see on every dive site. Brilliant colors abound, along with critters galore, sharks and mantas, too! Diving was the focus of our visit and we found the dive operation to be efficiently and expertly managed by Calvin and his support staff. The food was once again plentiful and delicious. A change since last time was the switch during lunchtime from buffet style to family style, where heaping plates of food were passed around each table. Great conversations were had daily when the guests came together at meal time. The grounds are clean and well maintained, the staff helpful and friendly, the spa services are varied and most satisfying and while my wife and I have traveled extensively around the globe, we found ourselves more relaxed on this trip than anywhere before. Marit and Andrew have a spectacular vision for this place and continue to look for ways to conserve and protect this beautiful part of the world, while allowing guests to come along for the ride. What a privilege for those who visit. We're already planning to return in 2018 and we can't wait to once again see the friends we've made at MER. Dave and Elaine "The River Resort: "Great place to stay in South of Laos, close to Vat Phong!"
Wow, this is The place to be in the South of Laos! Along the mighty Mekong, great rooms, very friendly staff, good restaurant with a amazing view on the river. Value for money too! Very close to Vat Phong. Highly recommended.
