MesaStila: "A Piece of Heave"
"I have been here several times, mainly because I just LOVE the souvenir store they have - I have never left there without buying something. Items they sell seem to be handpicked wisely. I've also gone there just to take breathtaking photos. I've gone there just for a drink of coffee; I've gone there for meals. But recently my husband and I finally decided to overnight there. One night was not enough. Now planning at least a 2 night stay there next month. The coffee plantation tour is a must! "Inle Princess Resort: "An unmissable place"
This is a wonderful experience. Fabulous setting, very high standard of accommodation with many little extras such as fruit and biscuits in the room, a bird book and binoculars for our use. Charming, helpful staff, good food on a terrace overlooking the lake. We were sad to leave.Rachamankha: "Tranquil and elegant oasis"
This is an aesthetically pleasing, extremely quiet and comfortable hotel with luxurious accommodations and a welcoming friendly staff. Our family of four (two grown children) stayed in a two bedroom suite connected by a spacious living room with a kitchen stocked with place settings to allow an evening in with delicious take out food from the neighboring chicken (Thai) place. The beds are wonderfully comfortable and the pool and included breakfast were lovely. Very special and highly recommended!MesaStila: "One of the most beautiful hotels I have every stayed at anywhere – and I do get around"
"Truly magnificent. Not fake luxury - not spa'd out (they do not threaten to ""awaken your sense"" nor to arouse your Kundalini - they are content to offer warm, attentive service, huge and well appointed rooms, with 11 acres of grounds with a beautifully landscaped coffee plantation to wander around) but a true haven of peace up in the hills, away from the heat. The MesaStila Resord is something exceedingly rare in the age of corporate hotels - totally authentic. It has a distinctly colonial feel to it - manicured grounds, a large pool and excellent facilities - a 19th century teak train station which was saved from the wrecker's ball and moved to the hotel grounds. A club-house with pool table and bar. A large infinity pool with a kids area. Hammam and sports center. Tennis. What more could you ask for? The staff could not possibly be more attentive or well-intentioned. They care deeply for the wellbeing of their guests, and do everything possible to make it comfortable. The rooms are huge and tranquil. We shall be back - soon!"Glenburn Tea Estate: "Incredible"
"This place is in a time warp and is wonderful. As the other reviews say the drive from Bagdora is long and the last half hour is down a very bumpy unmade road, but for us this made it more exciting. When you reach the house you received the best welcome and are made to feel at home immediately. Our room was extremely comfortable and had everything you could want, including loads of hot water and thankfully no television. You all eat together in the evening which is akin to a lively dinner party, especially as we met some interesting people and had a great laugh. Breakfasts were equally as good with an Indian breakfasts of the day. We visited the tea factory and learnt how it is processed before sampling a variety of delicious infusions. We also went and watched the ladies picking tea and had a go ourselves. One of the best bits was waking on our first morning to see the mighty Himalayas as clear as a bell only 50 miles away, as the crow flies. I would highly recommend Glenburn for a completely fantastic experience"Tugu Lombok: "SIMPLY AMAZING!"
"Hotel Tugu Lombok has to be seen to be believed! The grounds, buildings and rooms are delightful, as is the natural setting - everything seemed like an adventure with something new to discover at every turn. While the hotel is not new or slick it is authentic and conveys a sense of being in Indonesia perfectly (rather than just feeling you are staying in a generic international resort). But this hotel's merits are really in the care, attention and genuine sense of hospitality displayed by the amazing staff. Everyone knows your name and likes/dislikes on day one, are super friendly but also know how to be unobtrusive if you seek privacy. There are also lots of activities that can be arranged should you wish to explore the area but it is actually very hard to tear yourself away from your new perfect ""home"", not the mention the shock of going back into the real world when it is time to sadly leave! This is our 2nd stay at a Tugu hotel (Tugu Bali is equally gorgeous) and as each seemed to very much have their own character we are planning a Tugu tour of Indonesia in the future to experience the country's culture, art and cuisine in the best possible way! Room Tip: Apenam Bungalows are in a quiet area facing a lovely grassy lawn and close to a huge, very unique..."Tugu Bali: "Absolutely wonderful"
"An unforgettable stay. The staff is warm, friendly, beyond accommodating and truly gracious. The property is gorgeous — beginning with the stunning lobby that will make your jaw drop the moment you enter. Historic Balinese details are strewn throughout the decor, and the room we stayed in had the feel of a colonial-era suite. Comfortable and modern amenities (the bed is top notch!). The food was fantastic — our breakfasts, in particular, were always the perfect way to start the day. The area itself is a surfer community, so it's a little livelier (and younger) than other parts of Bali that we visited. The beach is nice, though not exactly low-key and relaxing (if you're a surfer, it'll be right up your alley). Some very nice restaurants, bars and boutiques within walking distance. Overall, we loved our time here. We can't say enough about the service and the friendliness of the staff/management. They took care of us in every way and we will most certainly be back the next time we're in Bali."The Hue House: "Amazing authentic Vietnamese food and service"
My partner and I visited this restaurant around 6pm, staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Also has a beautiful view of Ho Chi Minh City! And the food was absolutely amazing! Will definitely be back!Misool Eco Resort: "An incredible marine experience"
Andrew and Marit have accomplished the almost-impossible by building this remote, luxurious resort on an island in Raja Ampat, mostly from driftwood, and without a fresh-water source. It is a dive resort, but we are snorkelers, and were extremely well taken care of by Andrew, Marit, Mark, Sue, Calvin, two wonderful men both named Ali in the restaurant, and also young "Soo press", and the lovely masseuses Banne and Reeshna at the spa. We were assigned a private boat driven by the excellent Sam Saul and a private guide, "Son" (for Nelson), who took us on very many enlightening snorkelling excursions near the island. We even swam with 3 manta rays at "Magic Mountain"! We were in paradise! The conservation philosophy of this resort is commendable and inspiring, and we were left with a feeling of hopefulness for the future of this marine habitat. Well done, Andrew and Marit, and staff!Mathis Retreat: "Beautiful tranquil oasis in the rice fields"
"The Kenanga in Ubud is a perfect place to stay. We had a room overlooking the beautiful rice fields of the hotel. The gardens are very lovely and the infinity pool is awesome. Breakfast is served a la carte and is delicious (the fruit jam is very tasty...). To get to Ubud Centre there is a free shuttle every hour until 5pm. Afterwards you have to take a taxi for around 40000 Rupiah. An alternative (by daylight) is to walk through the lush rice fields and arrive in the city centre after 1 hour. Carine, the owner is extremely helpful and organized a small private trekking tour with a local guide for us to a remote waterfall. All in all we had a wonderful time in Kenanga and will be back for sure next time we are in Ubud."
