David’s Kitchen: "Very few restaurants in the world that can hold a candle to David’s Kitchen"

Review by: Midian J | Source: Trip Advisor
"Firstly, I would like to start off by saying that this restaurant went above and beyond in terms of service and food quality. How do I know this? Well, besides my fiancee and I being big foodies having to try at least one fine dining restaurant in every new country & city we go to, I myself have been a cook/chef for over 15 years, working in an array of different styles of restaurants from chain restaurants, fast food, and pubs, to banquet halls, hipster bars, and fine dining; and with all my experience, as both a consumer and a producer, there are very few restaurants in the world that can hold a candle to David's Kitchen. Secondly, I will discuss the experience and service. When I booked us a table here I did so solely based on the reviews on this site. I had investigated the menu online and was excited to try some of the items. I went ahead and booked a reservation for Valentines Day (Feb 14) of 2017, and within an hour I received an email informing me that the regular menu would not be available for this particular day. She then forwarded me the set menu for Valentines Day. I didn't think much of it, as I am aware that some restaurants do this on special occasions and went ahead with the reservation and payed the deposit via PayPal to solidify the reservation; it was all very organized. On the day, we arrive at the front desk and are met by the owner shortly after we informed the host about our booking. He was extremely nice, speaking to us for a little while, offering to take a picture of us in front of the restaurant with my fiancee's phone, and then led us inside. The place was very spacious, well-lit, and a piano played softly in the background adding to the relaxing ambiance of the restaurant. We were led to our table, which had a greeting card with our names printed on it congratulating us for our anniversary and thanking us for dining with them on that particular day, it was very sweet. The food was delicious and extremely well cooked and seasoned, all delivered at a reasonable pace as to not bombard and overwhelm us. The waiters were very organized and didn't keep anyone waiting or got in each other's way. They were also right there to refill our wine and water when thy almost dipped to the level even an optimist would be pessimistic about. At the end of our meal David, the owner, even came over and spoke to us a while, which I greatly appreciate since it is not a common thing in the industry unless there is a problem or complaint. Thirdly, I will discuss the food we had and the quality. As I mentioned before, the regular menu was placed on hold for Valentines Day and a special menu was offered. On this menu were a series of appetizers consisting of an amuse-bouche, which was a tender and moist deep fried oyster resting in its shell, a large and perfectly cooked pan-seared scallop that was as smooth as butter with grilled veg and honey raisin sauce, Canadian lobster with fettuccine tossed in truffle cream with slices of black truffle, and finishing the appetizer selection off with a wild mushroom cream soup with croustillant girolle and white truffle foam before the sorbet, which served as a pallet cleanser before the entrees; of which I chose the roasted duck breast with oranges, mashed potatoes, and orange sauce. My fiancee had the braised Wagyu beef cheek in red wine with sauteed porcini and mashed potatoes. I remember her entree being very rich and tender, having a very heady aroma reflecting the weight of the bold flavors that hit your pallet. The duck I had was quite the opposite. It was very light and brightly flavored, which was a great counterbalance to the richness of the duck fat. The desserts were a chocolate Bailey mousse and a strawberry cheese cake, both of which were nice and light, a perfect end to a magnificent meal. A great dining experience for the both of us that we will never forget. we hope this restaurant continues to be successful because efforts like this should not go unnoticed. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who would like an amazing dining experience with friendly staff, a kind & humble owner, and great food. Like I stated previously, very few restaurants in the world that can hold a candle to David's Kitchen. You should go to find out why."

TIGER MOUNTAIN POKHARA LODGE: "Amazing place"

Review by: kiwirep | Source: tripadvisor.com
"Tiger mountain lodge is amazingly relaxing, an oasis of beauty and organisation and fantastic food in the midst of a fabulously beautiful environment. The chef is splendid, the walks wonderful and the people and enthusiasm for the locale and the villages something to behold. There is a surprising amount to do and you are also on the verge of the Annapurna range and its extraordinary trail. "

Neeleshwar Hermitage: "Beautiful, Calm and Relaxing"

Review by: KhanMohammed | Source: Trip Advisor
"Stayed here with family in the second week of May. Though not the best period to visit this place (it being peak summer).....we had initially planned for 2 Nights, but then extended our stay by one more Night. We had booked 7 villas and everyone of us had a wonderful time. Firstly, thanks to Allaah, who made this possible. He is the best of planners. The property is just beautiful, with well designed villas, top class hygiene and very warm and courteous staff. Everyone, right from Front Desk, House Keeping to the Restaurant are very courteous and friendly. And the F&B Manager and the GM go the extra mile to make your stay memorable. Look forward to visit again, Inshaa Allaah - (God Willing)."

Tugu Bali: "Lovely place with perfect service"

Review by: bazztiaan | Source: Trip Advisor
"Of you want to experience some of Indonesia's history then you should visit Tugu. Lovely hotel with great service. Their Japanese restaurant inside an old Chinese temple is also lovely. Nice garden next to the beach. Great breakfast with too much food to eat. Everyday you can also enjoy tea time next to the pool. Due to the rising popularity of Canggu the neighborhood is becoming the hotel's biggest enemy. A lot of construction work is going on. Really a pity for such nice place! But Great place for spending your last nights at Bali"

Summertime Villa: "Serene getaway for the discerning family"

Review by: Sashi R | Source: Trip Advisor
I was tempted to book 3-4 rooms at a 5 star hotel for our family getaway. Then a good friend of mine suggested that I try Summertime and I am super glad I did. This is probably the best run vacation home in Goa-- the service is excellent, discreet and non-intrusive. The rooms are spacious and furnished with great Balinese...

David’s Kitchen: "Memorable six star experience"

Review by: BarbaraMD | Source: Trip Advisor
"We started our evening with the shuttle sent by The restaurant to pick us up at our hotel. The magic began. Words are not enough to describe our experience. The fabulous staff, the Decor, the high quality and food the attention to detail coupled with the warm personality of the family that owns this restaurant make this experience magical. My husband started his dinner with his favorite escargot and then a wonderful steak with a wine sauce. I enjoyed the spicy flavorful gazpacho and the chicken beast entree to keep with my diet. My husband enjoyed the homemade ice cream for dessert. If you are visiting Chiang Mei don't miss this experience. Thank you David and Prom and all the staff."

MesaStila: "Wonderful and different"

Review by: Debbie C | Source: Trip Advisor
"Just left beautiful Mesastila Hotel. In the middle of a coffee plantation surrounded by jungle. We stayed in a typical Javanese villa, like nothing I have stayed in before. It had lovely furniture and antiques and was huge. And as for the terrace-enormous. Fabulous spa and restaurant. The staff couldn't do enough for us. They arranged our trips and were friendly and polite. It is a very different kind of experience at Mesastila. The attention you expect but the buildings, history and immaculate gardens make it an experience you are unlikely to forget. Wonderful."

Kinabalu Park: "Some tips for noobs (like me)!"

Review by: Hilmi A | Source: Trip Advisor
"Do not rush it. Take some time to enjoy the places in ranau and kundasang as well. We stayed at LODGE 37 for 2 days and its still not enough. Lodge 37 is located at ranau in between kinabalu park and ranau hot spring. Theres few trails inside the foot of mt kinabalu itself (dont need any ticket), so if u guys are up for it spend one whole day there. (Wont still be enough) For RANAU HOT SPRING, spend a day there as well. Theres more to it then just the hot spring, If u continue walking, u'll come across - 1) CANOPY WALK (few metres away) 2) KIPUNGIT waterfall (700m away) 3) BAT cave 4) and another waterfall (3km away) If u plan to go both ranau and foot of mt kinabalu on the same day, keep ur ticket with you. U wont have to pay for entrance of the latter if u show them ur tickets. On the last day, otw back to KK, Go for KIULU WATER RAFTING. Worth it for first timer. Maybe not so much for advanced rafters. And later, hav a lunch at SULAMAN. Where u can get fresh 'lokan' (shells), fried food (rice), and some coconut pudding for ur empty stomach. Then head back to KK. Sunset viewing at KOKOL HILL can be done either otw to ranau, or otw back from ranau. Choose which suits u best. We did it otw to ranau. Hope this helps. Even with few days research i didnt really get to know these facts, only when we are there and try it ourselves that we found out abt all this. Last but not least, just enjoy urselves! Stop worrying abt the time that u cant regain. Live the life, travelers! InsyaAllah."
