Manda De Laos: "Exceptional!"
We came for lunch yesterday, and then dinner this evening. After dining here twice, I can confidently say it is an excellent restaurant! First, the setting is beautiful and serene, a true oasis in LPB. The staff are incredibly polite and professional, and go out of their way to make sure you are having a great experience. The food is delicious! A modern spin on traditional Laotian food. Everything we ate for lunch and dinner was really, really good. We were so happy we went back for dinner tonight! Finally, the cost of the meal is maybe slightly more than you would pay for a casual night out in LPB, but really, overall it is an awesome price for what you are getting. Tonight we had two glasses of wine, two soda waters, two appetizers, two mains, one dessert and two espressos, and the total cost was only around $70 USD - incredible! You will love this place!Labyrinth: "Deserving of the Michelin Star"
Use to eat at the restaurant regularly before they received their Michelin Star. Was a bit apprehensive when I made the booking recently as the restaurant was heavily booked most days and I fear that that their standards might be compromised with the high popularity. My fear was unfounded as the food and service standards was certainly up to expectations . My guest was impressed as well and I certainly look forward to eating there in the near future. Keep up the good work and they truly deserved their star.Mrauk U Princess Resort: "Rustic, Romantic, and Real"
"Mrauk-U ended up being a highlight of our trip to Myanmar. Unapologetic for what it is, this is not a resort for the picky. It is rough around the edges, and it does seem priced beyond its means. And yet, in the end we were so happy we stayed here. If you are considering splurging on this little gem, then it helps to release any unrealistic expectations. The rooms are rustic, imperfect, sexy, and luxurious. Loved the spacious bathroom area with double vanity, separate tub and shower. Found the king bed to be super comfy and slept well. This is a great resort for couples. If you ask for a room with king bed, you will get flower petals strewn every evening. Being surrounded by lotus ponds in rustic charm make for a super romantic excursion. Feels like a retreat. No TVs on premises and poor WiFi. It helps to have a local SIM card for internet—indispensable for Google maps used for sightseeing. We rented the rickety hotel bicycles each day and loved it. Staff is fabulous, friendly, warm, and kind. The kitchen serves probably the best food you can eat in Mrauk U (other than in someone’s home). The prices are also surprisingly reasonable. Eat as much Rakhine food as you can while here and they can make you Rakhine noodle soup for breakfast if you order a day in advance. The setting is remarkable, away from the town and in its own village. It is great fun riding the resort’s rickety old bicycles through the village, into Mrauk U town, and around the ruins. We did this two days in a row and loved it. Recommend you start early as possible around dawn because it gets hot in the afternoon. Also recommend using GPS/Google Maps. You can make a large circuit of the ruins in one day but two is better. We stayed three nights and it was perfect. We did not do excursion to Chin villages. I have it on good word that the local owner of the resort gives back to the community, if that helps encourage you to stay. You can get here by car or boat from Sittwe. We picked this resort to avoid having to deal with the government boat schedule and having to spend the night in Sittwe. As of writing this, the resort does not list the prices for its airport transfer (boat from Sittwe) on their website. The price for two people is over $500 r/t. This was shocking to me at first because you can take local transport for a fraction of the cost ($40 per person-ish r/t on the govt boat). However, you would have to stay overnight in Sittwe and it would be a hassle. It seems silly saying this, but if you can afford to stay here at all, it is worth paying for their transfer service. The price stings a little but it is so worth it. The resort has its own boat jetty, and your transport to/from Sittwe is as easy as can be. It’s a really fab ride and infinitely more comfortable than any other way of getting here. They actually cook for you on board (great food). Plus you can arrange to come out here without having to overnight in Sittwe in either direction. That means liberating time to do other stuff in Myanmar and enjoying a silky smooth journey to remote Mrauk U. Overall I would not have wanted to stay anywhere else in town and strongly recommend staying here if you have an inner princess to please. When you come with an open mind and heart, your perspective can be transformed and you may come to enjoy it as much as we did."Tugu Lombok: "Best friend wedding"
"Thank you so much to all the management and staff for a wonderful stay with the Tugu family. My best friends got maried on this lovely resort. I was blown away by the buty of this place. Every thing was just perfect. The rooms are just amazing with outdoor bathrooms. The beeches sublime. Snorkeling is great and all you need is provided. 2 pools are available for you to enjoy and I mean really enjoy. The art in the rooms and doted all over the complex are amazing. Every day I would discover something new. Once again A BIG thank you to all the staff at Tugu for making such an inportent day in my friends life a wonderful memory that I'm shor they will never forget. I know I won't. And of course thank you Chef your food was just perfect. "Muang La Lodge: "Unbelievable Paradise"
"Kindness and grace characterize the resort located in what must be as close to paradise in a rural setting as one can get. Thanks to the excellence of the entire resort staff, the location and design of the bungalows, the food and service, you are transported to a new level of appreciation of life. Rui, Raphael, dun and the entire staff are there to insure that your visit is as near perfection as is possible. WE visited The Resort for three nights in February when it was quite cool. No problem as blanket and charcoal fire pots were there to warm us at meals. The trip to local tribal villages showed us a part of Laos that is fast changing. The scenery on the drive was amazing. One day we walked through rice paddies and to a local temple. This is an experience never to be forgotten. You will not find a better place to get a real sense of rural Laos at a resort that combines authenticity and service. It is not only worth the cost but provides an experince for the soul that no amount of money can buy. "Rachamankha: "3 nights in paradise"
My husband's 85 year old aunt and her daughter stayed at Rachamankha for 3 nights this August while they were visiting our family and my husband's mom in Chiang Mai. They loved loved the hotel. They appreciated the serenity and the architecture of this hotel. They said the service was perfect. Every morning they would tell me what they had for breakfast which was scrumptious. They also ate all their dinners there and enjoyed sampling Rachamakha's Thai food. It was a dream come true for these visitors to stay at this hotel.Tugu Malang: "Fantastisch"
Have fallen in love with the Tugu Malang. Received at check-in sincerely and could choose a room. The service was 1A. The facility is decorated with enormously wide variety of artifacts. The breakfast (included) was indescribably good. From more than 15 (!) Pages we could choose our wide variety of dishes. only the hotel would come back due to Malang.Chakrabongse: "Stay in a prince’s palace"
This was built in the 19th century by a Thai prince. It's on a busy street and right next to the river. Once you get behind the gates, it's your own private palace. Pool, garden, decks overlooking the river. I think there are only about 9 rooms. It's pricey, but worth it. Our dinner was about a 7-course meal (prix-fixe), each one a delicacy. Took off my shoes at the gate and wandered around the rooms and gardens for all three days we were there.Amata Lanna: "unparalleled service"
All I can say is WOW. From the moment we walked in the door we were surrounded with compassion and hospitality. The staff all went above and beyond to make us feel like Queens and Kings. The rooms are simply amazing. The entire establishment is so well taken care of and clean. The front desk, especially Rebekah, went above and beyond in helping to schedule dinner reservations and services. They made everything so easy. It was so quiet and peaceful, sometimes it felt like we were the only ones there.Breakfast was always incredible.Within walking distance from the night market and several restaurants, it was the perfect location. I could go on and on about the staff and establishment, but I will just leave it at this...... Don't hesitate to stay here, it really is as wonderful as the pictures lookBabe: "Awesome dinner for couple"
This place is awesome for anyone looking to have dinner with a view (not so great but pass lah) and not having to go downtown kl. From food presentation to food line up and wine pairing, it is perfect. Also they have special arrangement for special occasion, so make sure you inform them earlier.
