Arumdalu: "An excellent and very luxurious unique experience"
We spent 5 days at this resort on our latest trip to Indonesia. We know the country well so we can be a bit choosy. We had a very luxurious experience at this resort with really excellent food. The accommodation was perfect with bungalows with small pool. The concept with back to nature fit our interest in a sustainable resort thinking. We just loved the whole idea and our stay here!Villa Song Saigon: "Beautiful hotel"
It's a bit of an odd drive to get here, out of main areas and thru village streets but well worth the drive. It's a very boutique hotel. No lifts and 3 floors. Beautiful wooden floorboards everywhere. Our reception greeting was friendly and very easy check in. We had to book 2 rooms (travelling with teens) and do wish we had upgraded at least our room to have a balcony. The windows on the 3rd floor are small but do open fully which is nice. The rooms are small but beautifully appointed. Everything has been finished to a very high standard. Lovely bathrooms and very comfortable bed. The outside restaurant/bar is a gorgeous area. Exactly what we expected and part of reason for our booking here. It's a beautiful spot on the banks of the river watching the sunset (or rise). The food and drinks are really good. The dinner menu isn't Vietnamese but after almost 3 weeks we didn't mind having some fusion food. Seafood was all beautiful. The staff are lovely. The pool area is nice, a large pool, very warm with seating around it. The pool is at the back of the hotel and has no bar or cafe attached to it. The gym is small with only 1 treadmill but it's a good quality one. The free mini bar is 2 beers 3 waters 1 juice and a soft drink. The coffee in the room is terrible, luckily we bought everything we need to make our own cafe sua da with us. The free boat into the city is great. We are doing the Cu Chi tunnels tour arriving by boat and the boat driver is able to pick us up from the hotel jetty (and drop us back here) saving us 45 min trip each way to and from the meeting point. Very happy with this hotel, definitely recommend itSatri House: "Stunning"
"On entering the beautiful building we were immediately welcomed by staff with drinks and information on the grounds and surroundings. We were shown round the picturesque hotel which also had 2 very lovely swimming pools. The rooms were stunning with lots of space. Breakfast at the hotel was great , although some may like a buffet they went with a more a la carte approach which never the less was delicious. The hotel is just 10 minutes walk from the town centre and the hotel even let you use bikes for free to get around quicker and take in more of the beautiful surroundings. I would recommend anyone to stay in this hotel as the staff, rooms, location , food and hotel grounds are 5 star! Stayed April 2017, traveled with family"MesaStila: "Thank you so much for a memorable stay"
"It is now a little more than a week ago since we left MesaStila after a very memorable 4 nights stay, and we wish we were still there. The scenic location takes your breath away when you arrive and during your stay, and we never got tired admiring the 8 volcanoes in the different light during the day, and the all so green and lush vegetation all over the resort. The villas are amazing; we stayed in a Arum villa and from the huge balcony enjoyed a beautiful view to the treetops and distant volcanoes. Everything inside the villa was perfect, and food served in the restaurant very delicious and well prepared especially the indonesian dishes we had for dinner. If you are into bicycling the resort has very good mountainbikes to use, and we can recommend to cycle the small country roads to Grabac and back; Java countryside at its best. And just as important: the very kind, good humored and helpful staff also made our stay unforgettable! Thank you to all the staff from grateful guests, we hope to come back. Stayed March 2017, traveled as a couple"Locavore: "The best restaurant in Indonesia"
After 7 years living in Indonesia I would say that this is probably the world's best restaurant of Indonesian cuisine and Indonesia's best restaurant. Aspirational, creative, sophisticated, surprising ... and truly local. This is not a copy of something else.Amata Lanna: "Wonderful service"
This hotel had wonderful service! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms very nice and unique and the breakfast was great too. I would definitely stay here again. Great vacation and honeymoon spot!Tugu Bali: "Exquisite beauty and great service"
"We were given a welcome drink and then escorted through beautiful grounds to room 209, an upper- floor Renjang Suite which was huge and featured a four-post canopy bed with carved wood, a beautiful hammered metal tub (a common Tugu Hotels feature) on an enclosed porch with views to the Indian Ocean and much more. The room was done throughout in beautiful wood and felt very cosy. The ceiling must have reached 20 feet at the top of the vault. Two Aircon units in the room kept the Bali heat in check. The bedding was very comfortable and in the serene setting with the sound of the waves out the windows we slept very well. The lighting was too dim for reading in bed, so bring your clip- to- the- book light if that matters to you! There were separate rooms for the shower and for the toilet. There was a lot of closet space and plenty of room for our luggage. Breakfast was a la carte and had a nice selection. The black rice was excellent, more or less a pudding, with coconut milk, delicious. Their omelets were tasty, too. There was delicately smoked salmon on their equivalent of soda bread, a very successful combination. The front desk, the bar, the restaurant tables and a large stage all share a big space under a vaulted roof. There was a cultural evening on our Thursday evening, no charge, and it was great. The statue of some winged beast at the back of the stage is impressive. The hotel is a showplace of various Indonesian works of art and is worth visiting just for that reason. The hotel puts chairs on the beach for guests and there’s also a lawn with beach chairs. You can order dinner and drinks on the lawn. The beach walks were great. There are lots of surfers to watch, and there are bars all along the beach in case the hot sun makes you thirsty… There were plenty of bars and restaurants all up and down the streets, too, but from what I saw between the hotel and the airport, there are restaurants and boutiques nearly everywhere in Bali, some in the least likely places. Be sure to agree taxi prices before you go anywhere as they will rip you off if you let them. Our first and only experience with this ended well because the Tugu’s porter came up to the taxi when he saw me disagreeing with the driver, and when he heard the driver’s demand he told the taxi guy to take what I offered and buzz off. After that, we were careful to agree beforehand. The location seems to be good, although this was my first trip to Bali and I do not have anything to compare it to. It takes about an hour to manage the 22km from the airport. At the end of our stay, the staff prepared a nice basket of fruit and chilled water to snack on in the car to the airport, and they all came out to wave goodbye, a very nice touch. We will certainly stay at the Tugu on our next Bali visit. "Tugu Malang: "We loved this gem of a hotel"
"The hotel is stunning in its beauty. Really one of the most attractive- on- the- inside hotels I have ever been in, with light, rock, water, plantings and museum- quality antiques and artistic pieces which bring the history and culture of Java to life. There are non- Java items too, among them a 3,200 year- old Shang Dynasty sculpture. After a very friendly check- in (there is nothing like an Indonesian smile), we were shown to room 222, a large room with a four- post bed adorned with beautiful wood carvings. There was an in- room safe, mini- fridge with Bintang beers and a large work desk with convenient desk- height power outlets. The room was rich with teak wood and the wood floors were nice underfoot. If you don’t like going barefoot they provide nice batik slippers. Plenty of closet / hanger space and room for luggage too, much appreciated. The room was very quiet, except when the day- long procession of banner- waving motor scooters celebrating the local Arema football heroes went constantly past the hotel! It was great fun watching the procession from the coffee house and sipping on Bintangs.. The toilet was in a separate room from the shower room. The toilet had a built- in bidet feature, not exactly like the Toto Washlet you might be familiar with-- this was rather a simple affair with a curved water tube and a manual faucet handle on the side. It worked just fine. There is also a small hands- washing sink there. The shower / tub was huge, round, and of hammered metal. You could fit more than two adults in the tub (if you wished.) The sink was also hammered metal and had a ringing sound as the water dribbled in, very nice. The bedding was very comfortable and we slept soundly. The breakfast menu featured American, Indonesian, Chinese, Malang Street Food, Healthy and “Romantic” options. I enjoyed the fried egg covered with melted cheese on top of ham / croissant. The oatmeal included fresh fruit and crispy coconut on top, delicious. The coffee comes from their own Java coffee plantation. Service was great. The restaurant was excellent. It was beautiful, with indoor / outdoor seating and separated from the pool by plants. The menu was extensive: 170 regular food items – not counting drinks - plus a special menu with another 12 or so items. Indonesian, Dutch, Italian, Malang Street Food, Chinese, sandwiches, salads, Aussie and local steaks, from Wagyu to basic. Our food was excellent. The restaurant is open 24 hours, so when we needed to have breakfast at 05:30 on our departure day, there was no issue at all. All the early Mt. Bromo hikers can fill up before the climb. The location is very good, a short 450m from the train station (you can take the Malioboro Express from Jogja in comfort), 320m from the Bird Market / Flower Market and 1.4km from the very impressive and beautiful boulevard of Dutch Colonial houses (and many nice ones leading up to it. Malang is at 450m altitude and situated between mountains gets nice breezes channeled through which are cooler and less humid than central Java. We took a hotel- sponsored bike tour. It was on a Sunday, and they close many of the most attractive boulevards to auto traffic, so we had a very pleasant ride through parts of Malang we would never have made it to on our own. The beautiful Dutch Colonial homes were something to see, nestled amongst palm trees and lush plantings. Our tour guide, Sigit, made sure that we were safe at all times (no small thing in Indo city traffic!) and knew the area very well. The bikes were in good condition and they had loaner helmets. The hotel has my highest recommendation."Villa Mathis: "Bali entre copines"
"Merveilleux endroit, managers et personnel d'un grand professionnalisme ! Tout le monde était à l'écoute. L'établissement est superbement entretenu♥️ La restauration est digne d'un grand chef. J'ai encore des étoiles plein les yeux de cet endroit et de ce pays. Merci"Tugu Bali: "Comfort in Canggu"
My wife and I stayed at Hotel Tugu for our Balimoon in early June. This hotel is like a time capsule in Bali. The attention to detail in balancing old and new was perfectly crafted. The hotel manager greeted us at reception which was a great way of welcoming us as guests of the hotel. The hotel grounds are meticulously maintained. My wife and I opted for the Rejang Suite which has a sunken tub and a partial view to the beach. The timber interior of the suite with the sunken bathtub and daybed felt true to the charm of the Javanese house. The wood framed windows open to a clean ocean breeze. Because we arrived on Thursday, we were able to view the cultural dance performance with our dinner. Again, the attention to detail was not overlooked in this show. The costumes were amazing and actors were great. The hotel also includes a museum displaying objects of its past and Bali. This was a huge value add as you rarely see such items on your normal Bali itinerary. The hotel also includes a private beach deck which is great for having a few Bintangs while watching the sunset. The hotel staff is extremely courteous and friendly. Highly recommend Tugu to anyone in search for true Balinese hospitality and comfort.
