Samuay & Sons: "A DELIGHTFUL CULINARY EXPERIENCE"

Review by: Jaap H | Source: Trip Advisor
What a surprise to find a modern thai fusion restaurant with such surprising dishes in Udon Thani. The two brothers Joey and Noom learned their trade in Berkeley and returned to Udon 4 years ago. Menu with dishes that surprise, very tasty, beautifully decorated, and a unique creative twist to them. And as a bonus a large selections of desserts, which are normally not to be found in a Thai restaurants. No wine on the menu yet which is a pity, but we were told by the owners that they will feature organic wine before long. A must visit in Udon for food lovers.

Pindaya Farm House: "Great Shan State retreat"

Review by: Lucasmom2016 | Source: Trip Advisor
"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2.5 day, 3 night stay at the farmhouse. After working/living in Yangon for six weeks, Pindaya Farmhouse is a little paradise, a beautiful building, with wonderful spaces indoors and out to enjoy the rural scenery, along a quiet drive and road out from which we birded quite happily in the afternoon (enchanted by the Sooty-Headed Bulbuls...). The décor is stunning, including bright paintings by Myanmar artists that grace the common room's walls. We also appreciated the farmhouse's efforts at sustainability, with solar panels, solar heated water for showers, rainwater harvesting and storage, and ample vegetable gardens and newly planted fruit trees. I can't wait til the mango trees begin to supply fruit! The rooms are extremely comfortable, each with private sitting spaces outside affording vistas of the rural countryside. Lighting is excellent, and the wifi system was quite reliable (also surprising to find!). The kitchen offers a nice array of dishes for lunch and dinner, although Win Naing also recommended an excellent restaurant, the Golden Moon, on the outskirts of town. We spent one half-day touring the caves, the nearby paper/umbrella artisans, and a weaver. On our second full day, we hired a guide to take us on a 5-mile hike up into the hills, where we visited a village in the bamboo grove and watched potato ""crackers"" being smoked/dried and enjoyed green tea and good conversation with the lady of the house. Along the way, we were passed by a couple and two Myanmar guides who were hiking from Pindaya to Kalaw, a three-day trek. I also collect textiles, and was sent to a little gift shop that had a beautiful selection of women's ""longyi"" cloths. Afternoons were for relaxing and reading, while evenings we especially enjoyed our final dinner shared with fellow travelers. In mid-February the air is still cool and delightfully dry in Pindaya, a welcome respite from Yangon, although it was always a bit smoky from the farmers who are burning crop residues in preparation for the upcoming growing season. That gave a special glow to the sunrises and sunsets, which were both stunning. Thahara made it very easy for me to arrange all aspects of the trip, managing my extensive email inquiries, helping me to settle on dates, and even arranging flights for us between Yangon and Heho near Taunggyi. I paid online via a secure epayment website, it could not have been easier. I plan to recommend Thahara's Pindaya Farmhouse to all my Yangon colleagues!"

Tugu Malang: "Love this piece of Gem"

My second visit. Staff remembered and adressed me with my name. Arrived 5 mins to high tea but was accommodated. Rooms uniquely decorated. As the common room with peranakan-javanese style furnitures and paintings. ENJOYED SO MUCH....

Inle Princess Resort: "A beautiful, peaceful place to stay"

Review by: HelenKH2678 | Source: Trip Advisor
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We had a garden room rather than a lake room, but still beautiful. There's no tv in the rooms, but who needs that? It was just so peaceful. Great pool, bar and restaurant too and the staff were more than ready to help out with anything. I have coeliacs and the restaurant staff were happy to make something special for me, although that wasn't required as the food on their daily changing menu gave me lots of options. We were there late January and most of the other guests (and the staff) seemed to think the mornings and evenings were cold. Not for us. While the temperature was a little more temperate than other parts of Myanmar, we were perfectly comfortable without long sleeves and scarves, but I suppose that's a subjective experience. Room Tip: You could probably pay more and get a lake view room, but it's not necessary."

Maison Polanka: "Luxurious and subtle"

Review by: Susan H | Source: Trip Advisor
Maison Polanka has the kind of subtle elegance that never intrudes. It is beautiful, the rooms and grounds. It is intimate and yet private. You are totally taken care of in an unobtrusive way. And the food is excellent, some of the best we had in Southeast Asia. That said it seems excessive to say that the herbal massage I had (I had a chest cold) was an amazing experience. I reserved months in advance and it was totally worth it.

SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Excellent Culinary Experience"

Review by: Renato B | Source: Trip Advisor
"I have been to Seeds a couple of times over the past few months. It is great to see and feel how the team is growing in experience and professionalism. The Service is very pleasant and attentive, with a good knowledge of the product they are serving. The dishes presented were very innovative and well presented. Fine-tuned culinary creations of high international standard, at times with a slight local twist in flavor! A great culinary experience at the shores of the Inya Lake."

Cabochon Hotel & Residence: "A brilliant stay at the Cabochon Hotel"

Review by: Sheena S | Source: tripadvisor.com
We have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Cabochon Hotel and already cannot wait to return. A 5-10 minute walk from Phrom Phong BTS station off Sukhumvit- the location was ideal. Close to public transport, restaurants and shopping. The hotel is incredibly beautiful and filled with antiques and interesting things to look at. It was wonderful to return to such a calm and quiet space after a busy day out in the city. We stayed in a studio room and found it to be perfectly adequate for our needs. The bed and linen was comfortable, the air conditioning great and the general design of the room and furniture extremely chic. Breakfast is served from 7:00am to 10:00pm and we loved the continental buffet as well as the a la carte choices which included both Asian and Western options. The staff are extremely friendly and couldn't help us enough. They answered all our questions and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. We will definitely stay at the Cabochon on our future visits to Bangkok and will be telling all our friends and family about it too!
