We travelled here a family of seven and were treated with warmth and like royalty. Would highly recommend get off the beaten track in luxury! We went to the local town, Lalsot to see the market and purchase bangles, enjoyed the evening cooking school/demo and the camel cart ride in the local village. Bring individuality wrapped sweets (e.g. Starbursts) for local kids. Lots of history here.Satri House: "Heavenly"
I cannot say enough kind thinigs about this place. The rooms, the landscaping, the staff, the food, the spa, the smells. All perfect! Definitely worth the expense. The fact that there were bicycles we could ride throughout town made it even better. The map the hotel provided was hard to read, but mainly because i'm not sure how many street signs there actuallly are. Lonely planet says Pingyao is perfect. Well, Jing's Residence is the perfect place to stay in the perfect walled city. The service is exceptional. They anticipate your every need without being intrusive. Right from the moment you are collected at the airport with snacks to a concierge who helps you plan the perfect activities for your stay... the service is impeccable. The restaurant is outstanding; you'll want to have every meal here! We're foodies and really didn't want to go anywhere else which says a lot for people who normally like to explore local restaurants. The hotel is part of Relais & Chateau and Secret Retreats. Based on our experience here we'll look for other hotels in Asia which are part of these 'brands'. Go! You will love it!Glenburn Tea Estate: "Surpasses all expectations"
"We stayed at the Glenburn after a week travelling around Sikkim and it was the perfect end to the trip. We received a warm welcome on arrival from Faye and Will the management team and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. We were offered refreshments throughout the day (fantastic teas) and found everyone very friendly. The rooms are lovely, each bedroom is different and in a colonial style and the food was excellent with a different theme each evening which we loved. Our stay was relaxing - we enjoyed the walk down to the river where we had lunch, exploring the tea plantation and reading on the veranda admiring the views. Just what we were looking for in a tea plantation. Thanks to Faye and Will and their team for making our visit so memorable It was a few days of luxury that I would highly recommend."GOLDEN BUDDHA BEACH RESORT: "Pure bliss"
"My husband and I stayed at this lovely resort for 5 days at the end of our travels through Thailand and it was an absolute dream! All of the staff were very helpful, welcoming, and instantly made me feel at home. As we rode on the long tail boat to the resort I could start to feel my stress and worries melt away, which continued throughout our time there. The food was absolutely amazing and there was a huge variety. I don't think they offered the same thing twice in the week we were there. The breakfast buffet was heavenly and the best way to start each day. Although I have traveled somewhat extensively, I have never been so sad to leave a resort. This is a wonderful resort set in the middle of a coffee plantation. A cool respite from the heat of Yogyakarta, the service in this resort is first rate, from the front desk to the restaurant etc. My wife indicated that the massage she received in the spa was one of the best she has ever had. The breakfasts were fabulous, the views awe-inspiring, and the arrange tour to the Borobudur temple was excellent. My only negative is that the fitness equipment was really second rate and not operational when I was there. But everything else was great!Maison Polanka: "One of our favorite hotels"
"Maison Polanka is heaven: Wonderful location, close to everything but private and secluded. Four rooms nestled in a gorgeous garden with a fantastic pool, delicious restaurant (don't miss the amok fish and chicken skewers), a cute resident bunny, tea time with yummy baked goods, and a spa with really stellar massages. A must check out for excellent service & food combined with traditional architecture “As good as it gets !” . We found this hotel in Canggu Bali 18mths ago and returned to re visit this fabulous hotel. Sumptuous decor of the traditional Balinese type. Idyllic garden pool area just by the beach . A haven of tranquility and delight in the hustle & bustle on Canggu. Nothing is too much trouble. We loved our Dedari Suite with the private pool. Our favorite feature was the beautiful and peaceful indoor/outdoor shower - I've never enjoyed washing up more! The grounds were lovely, and the location right next to Batu Bolong Beach was great for surf lessons. Every single staff member was welcoming and friendly, and they truly went out of their way to help us get the most out of our stay.
