The Governor’s House: "Relaxing place into a colonial house"
"Cute 3-floors colonial house with a nice pool in the back of the hotel including chill-out terrace. 8 rooms only makes you feel like ""at home"". Room no. 1, next to the pool to be recommended. If you are lazy to go out, try restaurant. Notice choice of dishes at excellent quality at very affordable prices. I would recommend this hotel for short stays to PP traveling with friends or couples."NEELESHWAR HERMITAGE: "Idyllic Ayervedic break by the Arabian Sea"
This is a wonderful place to rejuvenate: attractive, comfortably furnished cottages, welcoming & helpful staff, excellent food prepared by highly skilled chef, superb treatments organised to address specific needs all set in a beautiful location. Excellent library. Great trips & events e.g Theyam, birdwatching, ashrams & temples.Tugu Malang: "Wonderful hotel!"
This was our favourite hotel in Java. Not only are the staff helpful and friendly and the food is wonderful, it is a museum. The 'exhibits' are in every room, including the room we stayed in. The collection is amazing. It was a very special experience. It is in an old Dutch colonial villa which has been built on to in order to house the owners collection. The room was large and comfortable, the bathroom quirky. I always appreciate the flowers and welcome drink. we can highly recommend this hotel and wish we had had the time to stay longer.Villa Song Saigon: "oasis"
"From start to finish pure quality far enough from the hustle of the city. The hotel offers a free taxi service by boat into the city a great way to travel in and out . The cost of the evening meal is not cheap but it is pure quality and very tranquil sat by the river watching the surroundings light up. All the staff are outstanding . we spent three nights then travelled to nah trang for ten days Returned for one night are flight was not till 12.00 the following night the staff could not have been more helpfull thet provided us with another room to prepare for the return trip."Glenburn Tea Estate: "“Magical Shangri-La up in the clouds”"
"The views from all around both properties were breath-taking and we enjoyed some of the recommended walks you can do around the grounds, especially being treated to a delicious lunch down at the river. The food was great throughout the 4 days, sitting outside for breakfast and lunches is a treat (as long as the flies are not out in force) and dinners were similarly a great experience where you get to chat with other guests in a relaxed, communial manner, though private dining is always available, which we did take advantage of one night, when we were too fatigued to make small talk. Great variation of food also - with a different food 'theme' given for different nights - i.e. Indian, Tibetan, etc. The room we had (Singuella Suite - spelt incorrectly I'm sure) was huge, had some lovely period furniture and was decorated to a high, if a little mumsy, standard. Great bathroom and loads of hot water too. Sadly our visit to Darjeeling town was not the best due to it being really overcast, so I would suggest anyone stays here at least 3 nights to make the most of their time here. The road is what everyone else has written about it - bumpy and nerve jangling, but it is what it is - certainly we felt it seemed worse on the way down than up....also it seemed to get slightly more tolerable the more you did that journey, but it's no deciding factor over whether you should go to this place - it is really special, the views are simply stunning and the bonus of getting all your laundry done here for free was a great boon for us as we had 4 weeks worth of laundry to give them from our previous travels in India. The manager Jemima was lovely too - friendly, welcoming, easy to talk to with a great convivial manner. The shop was a nice, unexpected visit, but needed a bit more diversity in merchandise....again it got all a bit mumsy and twee after a while. The only other small criticism would be some of the employees English is very, very limited, which resulted in some wrong orders and misunderstandings - nothing major, but this is a pricey place to stay at and some guests might expect the service to be highly sharpened to reflect the fee. Still, if you can do go, I felt 4 nights was just the right amount of time to spend here....had a beautiful time which I will not forget. Room Tip: The newer bunglaow - for sure"The Hue House: "Vietnamese traditional restaurant"
You have to try this when you come HCMC. This is one of Vietnam traditional restaurant in Hochiminh City with speciality meals. Service is good with nice staff, nice decoration - very "Hue". Nice try.Neeleshwar Hermitage: "The place to ‘be"
My husband and I have just spent a week at Neeleshwar and had a VERY relaxing time. The accommodation is fab-u-lous (the bathroom being semi-outdoors with tropical planting - thank goodness for the fan as it felt much hotter out there than in our air conditioned room). We had an Ayurvedic massage each day. I could get used to having a daily massage! It was wonderful! Mr Jayan and his staff were very respectful and couldn't do enough for you. Credit must go to the designer of Neeleshwar Hermitage who has landscaped the resort impeccably, with great accommodation and exotic planting. There are lots of resident birds. Breakfast and lunch were taken at their beach cafe, and dinner in the restaurant. The food was fresh and flavoursome. We even had a traditional Keralan meal one evening which was served on a banana leaf and eaten with your hands. There is an infinity pool where you can order drinks and snacks. I loved the trip on the houseboat. If I'm ever lucky enough to return, I would like to spend a night (or two) on it.Tugu Bali: "Hidden Gem in Bali"
"We stayed at Hotel Tugu Bali for 2 nights and it was exceptional. The hotel is located in a very popular area of Bali (Canggu) with great night life, beaches, and surfing. The staff was very attentive and hospitable. In particular, Putu, was very helpful at reception. He would go above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. He would always greet us by name with a smile and arrange everything for us including breakfast, spa appointments, a shuttle to the airport, a tour of the hotel and even historical info on the antiques and artifacts on display.. The hotel is very unique in that it has a big emphasis on the atmosphere, decor, and mood. There is a large collection of antiques, but don't think that this means the hotel feels old. All the amenities are modern but the atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a tropical paradise. This is not your standard ""cookie-cutter"" style hotel. We stayed in the Dedari suite which is on the ground level. It is very spacious. It has its own entrance to a front garden before entering the room itself. It almost has the feel of a stand-alone villa. Unique features of this suite include a private plunge pool and an outdoor washroom. The bed is the most comfortable I have EVER slept in. It is bigger than a normal north american king size. I wanted to take it home. The breakfast options are amazing. And we had the option of eating anywhere on the premises. First day we ate on a raised cabana overlooking the beach. Second day we ate on a balcony overlooking the gardens. While in Bali we stayed at 3 different hotels in Uluwatu, Seminyak, and finally here at Tugu in Canggu. By far, staying at Tugu was the best. Highly recommend that anyone reading this should stay at Tugu Hotel. You will not regret it!"Villa Song Saigon: "Saigon sanctuary"
this elegant and friendly three story beauty is a haven of peace in a hectic city. Staff are delightful and go out of their way to remember you and meet your every need . Breakfasting right on the Saigon river is a great way to start any day.David’s Kitchen: "Best Restaurant on Trip To Thailand"
"I recently visited Davids Kitchen on my honeymoon to Thailand. My husband and I came in with high expectations given the incredibly positive reviews. It was the most fantastic dining experience I can remember - I wish I could give it more than five stars. The host, Tea, was chatty and delightful as we waited for our table. He ensured that the table was customized for our arrival with personalized flower decor for our honeymoon celebration (and a bouquet for me upon departure). The staff was incredibly attentive throughout the evening. The chef came by before we left for feedback on the meal (which was superb so we could only lavish him with praise). Davids Kitchen was a highlight of our trip to Thailand and certainly a highlight of our time spent in Chiang Mai. I cannot recommend strongly enough for a truly special (and delicious) evening."
