Slow Villas and Spa: "Relax, recharge and rejuvenate"

Review by: griasenk | Source: Trip Advisor
"We spent 3 nights in Slow Gili Air and just had the nicest experience. We planned on staying only one night and ended up staying 3 nights...thats the perfect time to get the slow feeling in completely :) Everything is made with love and thought through with great taste. From the beautiful cutlery to the cellphone bags, we were just charmed by the planning and realisation of this private villa. It is a home away from home. If you like you can even prepare your own meal in your kitchenette or order food from the best restaurants on the island, slow staff will get it for you. We also had a great Aloe Vera Massage at the brand new spa. The staff just came back from their training in Bali and was absolutely qualified. Generally the staff is super friendly and helpful, as all people in Indonesia :) They arrange everything for you Snorkelling, Horseback riding, Diving, etc. Slow Villas is just a beautiful place with beautiful people <3 and I will recommend it to everybody."

Maduzi Hotel: "Hidden retreats in the busy Bangkok"

Review by: AnnisaLaksmi | Source: Trip Advisor
"I am glad i found Maduzi Hotel in my Bangkok Hotels research before the trip, I wish that I found it sooner before we booked another hotel but me and my husband were lucky that we get to stay here for 3 nights out of our 6 days holiday in Bangkok. The location of this hotel is just a 3-5mins walk from Asok BTS which made it easier for us to travel to any corner of the city also 10-15 mins walk to Nana. The room itself was so fascinating. It was worth the price that we paid. Super big room with a very comfy king-sized bed and also a relaxing couch by the window. When we walked in to the bathroom, it was like we were in a celebrity's house. Big mirror with lovely lighting, walk-in closet, and the best part of it was the bathtub X jacuzzi! It was huge and quite deep, it could fit 2 people in it, and to fill the tub, the water will fall from the roof. Very unique and nice touch! On the other hand, they have a coffee machine in each of the room, also you can have free tea or coffee at their bar for 24/7. It was very relaxing after so much of walking around. They didn't have many breakfast options, but we tried almost every menu and they were delicious.. Every morning that's the thing we look after and if you wake up late you can have your breakfast as your brunch. I'm so looking forward to be back here and enjoy all of the fascinating facilities Maduzi has. Thank you for making our holiday memorable."

Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "Adventure"

Review by: jl1_12 | Source: Trip Advisor
"This is a fantastic experience. The tents are clean and well equipped. The food is authentic Sri Lankan cuisine and was among the best we had on our trip. Meals are communal and the staff are excellent at creating a sociable and welcoming atmosphere. Our guide was Danu. His passion for wildlife was very infectious and he answered all our questions knowledgeably and patiently. We visited quiet and remote areas of the park and had an excellent leopard sighting. We were also lucky enough to see some rare and beautiful birds."

Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Steeped in History"

Review by: jeffreydelc | Source: Trip Advisor
"We stayed at the mansion because we were very interested in its history. Built as home to a notable tycoon named Cheong Fatt Tze, the mansion fell into disrepair until it was restored beautifully by a local architect who also become the proprietor of the hotel. The atmosphere inside was very calming and peaceful. Our room, called the Shantung, was spacious, comfortable and well-appointed with all modern comforts. It was located in one of the side courtyard of the mansion, which they call the dry courtyard - there is a wet courtyard with ponds at the opposite side of the mansion. As hotel residents we were entitled to free guided tour, which was really informative and well-presented. It made us appreciate the history of the place and the massive efforts undertaken to preserve it even more. Local snacks was placed in our bedroom at the evening. A la carte breakfast was served in the dining room just off the central courtyard. The food was excellent. We wanted to dine at the Indigo Restaurant at the 2nd floor but unfortunately it was closed off for private function during our stay. There is a swimming pool at the side courtyard, which we didn't get to use but would be a welcome respite from Penang's heat. There's a shop too selling merchandise of the mansion."

Tugu Malang: "The most wonderful hotel in Indonesia"

Review by: CapitaineKiwi | Source: Trip Advisor
We have stayed in Malang city for a week or two almost every year for 44 years & for the past 22 years we have stayed at Tugu Malang. Not only is Tugu Malang the best hotel in Malang but we maintain that it is the best hotel in Indonesia. The atmosphere, the design, the décor, Pak Anhar's wonderful collection of antiques and artifacts displayed about the hotel, the swimming pool, the bridge over the koi pond with the most beautiful koi fish I have ever seen - the experience never ends. The food at the popular & wonderful Melati Restaurant never fails to satisfy. Fabulous menu, always excellent food and the largest range of Nasi Gorengs in Indonesia. Never miss Nasi Goreng Tugu & Nasi Goreng Bang Samin - my mouth is watering at the memory. We always bring friends & guests to eat at the Melati Restaurant and it appears that many of the travellers who stay at other hotels in Malang also prefer to dine there. The best spa and massage facility is without a doubt at Tugu Malang. Most of all, the wonderful, friendly staff are fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble. We love being spoilt and pampered at Tugu Malang and would never consider staying anywhere else in Malang. See you again next year.

Rice & Zen Boutique Resort: "Most amazing place I’ve ever been"

Review by: nicolejansen1991 | Source: Trip Advisor
"The sea dance hotel was just the most beautiful place I have ever stayed. I spent months searching for a decent hotel for our holiday and when I found this place and spoke to the manager I thought it must be too good to be true. From being greeted at the airport for our included airport transfer to the hotel I felt Instantly at ease. We were brought to the reception area and were given welcome drinks and cool towels which was just lovely after the long, hot journey we'd had. The resort is something you wouldn't expect it has a lot of growth around every bungalow. Bamboo and bushes making each bungalow private. It is all just so natural. They even grow their own vegetables! We were shown to our room, given a tour around it and then a quick tour around the important places of the resort. The room itself was just magnificent, so clean, smelled so fresh and fresh flowers on the bed, in the bathroom and on the dressing table. It was all just so breathtaking. Our bungalow looked out onto the restaurant and if laying in bed you could just see the sea. Our bungalow had a plunge pool which was perfect as the heat was unbearable for me as I'm a bit of a wimpy English lass, but the pool did really help a great deal. The restaurant. The food. The pool. The cocktails. I could go on but they were all just so amazing. We ate there a few evenings it is quite expensive, but it is worth the expense. The food is just out of this world, the owner poy recommended a few dishes for us and I have never eaten anything quite like it. The breakfast also is just lovely, we stayed for 10 nights and sure yes I was craving chocolate pancakes, I asked and they made them for me, so accommodating and will do what they can. Cocktails at happy hour are just the best and such good value for money however I would pay for them full price as they were just delicious and they always came with a lovely chat, smile and good company from the staff or people around the bar. The beach around the hotel is pretty jaggy on your feet. I found that out the hard way! But it's beautiful to sit on the loungers on the beach with a cocktail watching the waves, lightning and sunset. It's a beautiful little area with such beautiful views and very quiet. They also let you lend their kayaks which we did a few days and rowed our way out and along the sea a few times. Such fun! The resort is a little way out of town. It is about a 45 min walk to chaweng, 20 min to chongmon. Taxis are about 300/400bht. But if you catch a zongtou (I think that's it, bit like a tuktuk) you can get places pretty cheap 60/100bht for 2. However the best way to get around would be to hire a scooter from just outside the hotel. 200/250bht for 24hrs. When we go back we will hire for the week. This place is a family run place. From the moment me and my partner stepped into the car at the airport to the moment we left We felt like part of their family. We were invited to a night out with the owner, his sister and a few others on our first night which was just amazing! They are such wonderful people and it really does reflect on the experience we had because they defiantly made it the perfect holiday but in a non overpowering way. They knew the right amount of conversation to have with you and when you just wanted to have some time alone. I miss this places every day and writing this makes me sad as I want to be back so badly! If you go here you will love every minute. Me and my partner are 25/26 and it was honestly the best experience of our life to date. ❤️❤️ Stayed October 2016, traveled as a couple"

Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "The Best Experience"

Review by: LachlanP_12 | Source: Trip Advisor
While we were a bit unlucky in the leopard spotting - though we did see one for a split second as it flashed across the track, we had a fantastic time at this extremely professionally run operation. Our only wish was that we could have had some more time there. It wasn't just the safari experience which was excellent, with a real passion to show the big and small animals and birds, but the camp was extremely comfortable with some of the best food we encountered in Sri Lanka. Noel & Cecile and their team also are very knowledgeable and could clearly explain many issues related to cultural and historical aspects of Sri Lanka that we were interested in as well.

Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "Compassionate Oasis with Unparalleled Service"

Review by: Jessica K | Source: Trip Advisor
"How do I begin? My husband and I returned to Inle Heritage for the second time after our first visit in January 2016. The first time we had planned for 2 nights, but fell in love with everything we changed our plans and stayed for 3. This time around, we planned on 4 nights, although we could have stayed even longer. It feels like our second home! :) I cannot summarize how perfect the stay was yet again, and how humbling it is to see such hardworking, kind, and compassionate people who make it all possible. When you stay here, you will of course be in awe of the beauty of the lake while staying in a quaint bungalow on stilts, but you will also be in awe of the people with their big smiles, and even bigger hearts. This is what makes Myanmar such a special place to visit. Of course there are tons of beautiful things to see and do, but it wouldn't be as special without the people. Our stay included breakfast, which we had sent to the room each morning. We have a special vegan diet, and yet again, they exceeded our taste buds with all of the delicious food. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert - all the best food we have ever eaten in our entire lives. Shan food is incredible, and I recommend you eat a lot of it during your stay! We were lucky enough to meet with Chef Naing Win again, and cannot send our praises enough. He is not only very kind, but brilliant at what he does! Everyone in the restaurant went above and beyond to make our dining experience perfect. We are so very thankful for their hospitality and care. Honestly, again, they have the best food in the entire world! :) Thant Zin Aye was a wonderful help with booking our room, arranging airport transfers, and also a day trip to Pindaya. She has a heart of gold, and I hope you take the time to talk and get to know how special she is during your stay! She became our friend from our first visit, and will stay a close one for the rest of our lives. Htun Tint Aung and the rest of the staff at the lobby are also full of golden hearts, too! You cannot stay at this hotel and find someone who doesn't go above and beyond to make everything so special. I promise you, you will leave with memories that will stay with you always, and will make you return again. Make sure to check out the Burmese cat sanctuary on site. Chaw Su takes wonderful care of the cats! Biggest heart and the perfect mother to all the kitties. She also does the gift shop, where she works with many disadvantaged groups to help create local crafts, along with individuals that may not have the chance to get their work in front of people. 80% of the profits go back to these people - so please, make sure to stock up on gifts for your friends, family, and even something for yourself. We are very lucky and honored to have met Chaw Su, and to call her a friend. Make sure to find her and tell her how appreciated she is for all that she does! :) There is a hospitality training center on site as well. Did you know, this hotel is a not-for-profit, so the money you spend here is helping the students with their futures? It also helps fund other conservation efforts around the lake. How amazing is that? We love staying places where the money goes towards something good. You will be helping students build bright futures, and helping to preserve the wonderfully vast Inle Lake. During this recent visit, we were able to meet the founder, Yin Myo Su. She is brilliant, strong, and compassionate. Everything she does for others and her community leaves us speechless. She is one to watch and learn from. Can you sense that people with big hearts are common here? :) In case I haven't given it enough praise, we highly recommend staying at Inle Heritage. I know it will feel like your second home, too. Stayed January 2017, traveled as a couple"

Dewakan: "Fantastic experience"

Review by: kesharoo | Source: Trip Advisor
"When a restaurant is touted as one of Malaysia’s best with innovative dishes, it couldn’t be helped that there will a lengthy wait for reservations. And so it was with Dewakan. I tried my luck giving them several Saturday evenings and was rewarded when a slot for 2 was confirmed. It was partly to celebrate my better half’s birthday as well so I wanted it to be a nice occasion. Getting there was half the battle, we didn’t stay too far away and even then it was still challenging for us, especially when the roads leading to KDU were dimly lit. My guess is that it would be a bigger problem for diners not familiar with the area. Parking was easy and free and the guard told us where to head towards for the restaurant. We were greeted warmly upon entrance and waited for our table to be ready. The menu was shown to us while we waited. There was a buzz around the restaurant and it was full. The restaurant staff were relatively young with many servers being college students. We decided to go for the whole nice yards and were recommended a white wine to pair the food. What can we say about the food that has not been expressed by other reviewers? Sublime, different, beautiful and really good? What about good value for money and a good sign of the maturing dining scene in Malaysia? It was all of the above as far as we were concerned. There was a play with taste and structure, presentation was interesting and what you see is not necessarily what you get. And the white wine recommended went superbly with the food. Service was adequate, you have to give the ladies some room to improve, they do try hard and it was easier for us to understand the nerves. We even had a chance to talk to Darren after the dinner and he was a very down to earth chap with lots to say about the fine dining in Malaysia and obviously a clear vision as to where Dewakan is headed. The man obviously has put in a lot of heart and soul to Dewakan. Go give this place a chance, it will blow your mind."
