Glenburn Tea Estate: "Wonderful experience"
Stayed here for two nights at the end of a hectic 3 week tour. The charm of the old buildings is apparent as soon as you arrive. Courteous staff ensure you settle into your accommodation [ in our case a bungalow in the grounds ]. The food is excellent and we managed to go on two accompanied walks which were great. The walk to the river was down hill all the way. On arrival, out of nowhere it seemed, a barbeque lunch with cold beer appeared ! Thankfully a 4x4 took us back up the hill to Glenburn.Maison Polanka: "A HAVEN OF PEACE AND COMFORT"
"I wish we could claim responsibility for finding this hotel on line and booking it ourselves. But it was all done for us, and from the moment we stepped inside the sanctuary of its garden we were pampered, spoilt and generally looked after in a way which we often dream of but rarely experience. This really is one of a kind, with setting, accommodation, staff, food and service to match. If you can get a room - and there are only five - then this is a must-stay hotel. My only regret is that we are unlikely to return to Cambodia, but have been left with lasting memories. Room Tip: Any room you can book will be fantastic"Maison Polanka: "Personal service in a green oasis"
"Where else will you find hotel staff that welcome you back after a warm bike trip with cold towels and a smile? This is what makes Maison Polanka special; the personal touch. Every small request is taken care of. Room is gerat, pool fabulous and the food super yummy. I casually mentioned that my husband and I were on holidays for our wedding anniversary and just before we left, we received a Congratulations card, signed by all staff. Super sweet!"Glenburn Tea Estate: "Dreamy"
"High in the clouds perched on a little mountain near Darjeeling sits the most incredible retreat in all of India. I looked forward to my stay for months, but nothing could have prepared me for just how WONDERFUL this place is. It's probably the closest thing I can imagine to being royalty- such a beautiful example of old colonial splendour, and you are treated like a VIP. I enjoyed the communal dining, where I met lovely people from around the world, and it's pretty special to be able to just go for a guided hike anytime you like- there is always a guide on hand. Though it was mostly cloudy when I stayed, in the mornings the clouds parted and I was lucky enough to get an incredible glimpse of Kachechunga (wow!!) Rates seem expensive, but include so much (transfers, laundry, all food, all hikes, all activities!) that I can't really complain about the price. Everything was of perfect quality. On a side note, I stayed as a solo female, and I felt very comfortable, and my privacy was completely respected. Room Tip: They all have their own charm. Can't go wrong."Maison Polanka: "Secret Hotel Bliss"
"Don't pass up the opportunity to stay at this blissful, beautiful hotel. The rooms are fantastic, the grounds, including a fantastic pool, are beautiful and the attention to detail couldn't have been better. There are only 4 rooms plus a separate house - we stayed in the lovely yellow room. They will arrange tours to Angkor Wat though a friend recommended Dara Rann who we booked on our own (and highly recommend). The entire staff was caring and attentive and they even provided a fabulous breakfast in an insulated bag for us to take with us to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat (we were picked up at 445am). They even surprised us one evening with a birthday cake and card signed by the entire staff- thoughtful personal service indeed! You really feel as though you are in a secret hidden haven. What a special place!"Mathis Retreat: "Charming place"
"We stayed in one of the lovely cottages for three nights. The staff are very friendly and Karin introduced herself to us on our arrival. It's a very tranquil place to relax in. The pool area is wonderful and the room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and we enjoyed a delicious evening meal at the restaurant. The hotel is a good walk from Ubud so we hired a driver and a moped during our stay, which the staff arranged for us. We arranged a massage on the morning of departure which was the only disappointment of our stay. The massage room was nice but the gowns provided were old and grey and the massage felt a little rushed. The two therapists were also whispering to each other throughout the treatment which ruined the relaxation somewhat. Overall though a wonderful stay."The Island lodge: "Gorgeous retreat along the Mekong River; exceptional staff"
Gorgeous retreat along the Mekong River. We stayed in one of the garden bungalows and had such a peaceful and lovely time after our frenetic few days in Ho Chi Minh City. The hotel grounds are beautiful with wonderful landscaping of the lush, natural greenery. Breakfast is included and is taken in the open air lounge looking onto the pool and the river. The pool itself is beautiful with plenty of loungers and a good mix of sun and shade, and you can watch the Mekong River drift by as you enjoy a drink from the bar a few steps away. The staff at The Island Lodge really made the whole experience extra special - everyone was so kind and welcoming to my husband and I during our stay. Chau (the manager) was absolutely the best - she was so helpful and attentive to all of our requests, coordinating with her staff to ensure we were well taken care of the entire time. She gave us recommendations of local restaurants and some sightseeing places in My Tho, too, when we wanted to venture out, and helped arrange our transportation. The hotel is very secluded and a bit out of the way from the town and other attractions but for this kind of property I believe that is sort of the point. We chose to stay here for a few days between Ho Chi Minh and a river cruise leaving from Can Tho. I would highly recommend staying here if you plan to go to the Mekong Delta area (it’s worth a stay on its own, even if you DIDN’T already plan on coming to the area)!Sukoon Houseboat: "Superawesome!!"

What a wonderful place to stay - highly recommend it. Staff are wonderful and rooms clean and comfortable. Great food and pool/bar area. Lots to see and do in the area and transport to Kuching easily achieved . Looking forward to coming back in the very near future .Glenburn Tea Estate: "Fantastic retreat in the mountains"
Having read the reviews, we were not looking forward to the road transfer from the airport up to Glenburn but it really wasn't too bad at all and definitely worth it. We were warmly greeted by Will & Faye and they continued to look after us very well during our 4 night stay. We enjoyed the communal meals and we met some very interesting guests. The location was perfect, amazing views and our room lovely. The food was good and every effort was made to accommodate special requests (we had scones and specially made Portuguese tarts) We did a couple of the escorted walks which we really enjoyed. We also took much advantage of the free laundry service! A faboulous property and we had a wonderful time.
