Locavore: "AMA…wait for it…ZING"

Review by: David F | Source: Trip Advisor
"I have reached 50 years old and I can honestly say that this was the best meal I’ve had in my life full of travel and restaurants all over the world. I walked in on my way back from the Monkey Forest, hot and tired, just intending to grab a quick bite and drink. I’m not sure why but I was offered the tasting menu - I said yes, unaware of the price but ready for an adventure. I ordered 5 courses between the regular and vegetarian choices. To my surprise, 7 beautifully presented amuse bouche courses came first - each exciting and delicious. Then a new chef came out with each course to explain it to me. Exceptional service! And the tastes made my mouth soooo happy. To my surprise there were 2 more amuse bouche dishes before dessert arrived. After almost 2 hours, I thought it would never end and I wanted it to never end!!! The last surprise was an entire flight of chocolates and jasmine tea. All of the food was meticulously prepared and incredibly delicious. Lunch cost about $90 CND, which is the priciest lunch I’ve ever had but WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOCAVORE Make a reservation!!!"

Nimmu House: "Amazing place for a relaxing & peaceful stay in Leh"

Review by: ms60708 | Source: Trip Advisor
"We arrived in early May and were the first guests of the season. PROPERTY: It's a beautiful property with tons of apricot, apple & walnut trees which were in full bloom. The courtyard / terrace with comfortable seating & hammocks was paradise. One could spend an entire day lazing in the sun, gazing at the amazing views and spotting beautiful birds that would fly by and occasionally perch on the trees to feed (the photographs cannot do it justice - no offense to the photographer). The WIFI is patchy when it works, and that added to the charm of being totally disconnected. ACCOMODATIONS: As it was too cold (especially at night) we stayed in the heritage rooms instead of the tents. The rooms are cozy though small. They have all the basis amenities and the beds are comfortable. The hot water bottles & space heater (when the power was on) made the rooms bearable at night. The typical Ladakhi furniture was a nice touch. Though, watch out for the narrow and short doorways, after a couple of bumps we got used to them. THINGS TO DO: We were there for just 3 days (our only regret was we couldn't stay longer). The first day was spent relaxing on the property to acclimatize, which was a treat by itself. The manager gave us tour of the house and the history of the house and the family that owns it is fascinating (we got to meet some of family and they are gracious and friendly and it was a pleasure meeting them). We also visited the Alchi & Likir monasteries which were built in the 11th century and are very well preserved with beautiful paintings/murals. We also did a day trip to Pangong Tso, which was amazing and a must do. The hotel management made all the arrangements and they were top notch. [A heads-up though, the hotel only accepts CASH (no credit cards); so bring enough!]. MANAGEMENT & STAFF: The best thing for us about Nimmo House, is the management & staff. Couldn't say enough nice things about them. They treated us as family (in a good way!!). It was a pleasure to get to know all of them, hearing their fascinating stories about what brought them to to this remote place from all over the world and their experiences in Ladakh."

MesaStila: "A perfect sanctuary in the hills"

Review by: barneyinkaz | Source: Trip Advisor
"This place is honestly as good as you can hope to find for a holiday. Absolutely everything about it was perfect. It's difficult to know where to start in describing it but the big things were: - The estate is all exquisite, colonial style - built and collected by one (Italian) lady over 20 or so years. Her passion shows through in every price of furniture and every building. Fortunately it is still beautifully maintained even today - The service is far from old school though. The staff knew us perfectly and were fantastically well coordinated everywhere we went. If we were having lunch, they would confirm our spa plans for the afternoon, for example. Very slick. - The rooms were fantastic. Spacious, well equipped and with the most incredible views of the mountains and jungle below us. - There were activities all through the day: horse riding, coffee plantation tours, spa treatments. All entirely optional but very insightful and inspiring. There were also lots of outdoor games like croquet etc for us to play. - The afternoon tea was a perfect touch end of the day - sitting out on the Verandah... - The food was excellent. Always really tasty and a great blend of western and Javanese - The spa and hammam were incredible. The Hammam was such a treat - a full Turkish bath that was luxuriously decked out. The staff were also probably the best masseuses that we've ever seen - We did a few excursions / walks through local plantations or up one of the nearby peaks. They were a must do for me - so perfect. This place is basically like ""out of africa"" in java - just perfect. Stayed February 2017, traveled with family"

Manukan Island Resort: "Wonderful experience"

Review by: Ailene E | Source: Trip Advisor
We stayed in hillside villa to celebrate our anniversary. The room was exceptional and beach view is astonishing! Service is great and even able to setup a romantic dinner by the beach on same day request. Despite the forecast of rainshower at night it was still a success. They also have a rondalla that serenades us while we eat. Only thing we didn't like is the breakfast. But overall it's a wonderful experience.

tugu lombok: "Wonderful stay at Lombok"

"Amazing hotel... Quiet, marvelous decor, beach access, good selection of food & amazing staff - all very attentive to your needs. We had a very particular bathroom but all so nice. One memorable stay at Hotel Tugu! And very happy we included it with our Bali trip. "

Locavore: "Outstanding"

"We chose to have the 5 course degustation menu with accompanying cocktails for each course. While we may have had some reservation about having cocktails instead of matching wine, they were a revelation! While we were waiting for our meal to begin we were stunned to be served with SEVEN 'amuse bouche' dishes prior to this. All were outstanding and each was described to us in detail by a member of the staff - sometimes a waitress but often one of the cooks - including the head chef. In a similar vein - the 1 dessert course actually ended up being a 'pre-dessert', main dessert, and then about 3 'post desserts'. All the dishes were of a very high standard with interesting combinations and flavours. The open kitchen allows you to observe the staff preparing the food - all in a seemingly tranquil manner. Service was outstanding and we waddled out after almost 3 hours, overwhelmed by the experience. Even though it is reasonably pricey compared to other restaurants in Bali (~US$150pp including drinks), it is well worth it."

Glenburn Tea Estate: "It is a beautifully located property on the crest of a hill giving you a 360 degree view of all the hills around"

"This boutique hotel gives you the experience of complete tranquility, as it is situated in the middle of a tea estate surrounded by luxuriant greenery. The bird life, the changing cloud patterns and occasional rain immerses you in nature and your inner self. The staff is very obliging and attentive and the cuisine is delectable. A total experience."

Supanniga Eating Room: "Excellent food"

We sat comfortably upstairs and enjoyed a gorgeous, colorful, authentic Thai meal. Traditional cooking and attentive service. This is not fast/ street food... It's the real thing!

"Fantastic fine dinning in the heart of Ubud. The seven courses plus matching drinks were excellent and delicious, as was the pre dinner 'snacks'. The highlights for me were 'into the sawah' and 'bubur sumsum'. The service was outstanding with each dish and drink fully explained by the waitress. My partner and I left full and very satisfied. The experience is not cheap by any means but certainly worth treating yourself when in Ubud or Bali."

Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "The best"

Review by: Keri L | Source: Trip Advisor
We stayed here for two nights and it was wonderful. The individual room is beautifully design and has their own little balcony. The food at the restaurant is excellent. The reception has a great library. It is good to know you are supporting the local community as well. One of the drawback is that given it is so ecofriendly, we kept hearing noises from various animal on our roof which disturb our sleep a little bit.
