Villa Song: "A very special place!"
"As many have said, Villa Song is a bubble of peace and tranquility in a chaotic and noisy city. I would thoroughly recommend it. The boat is a great way to get to the city. The room (Art Suite) was beautiful, with river views. If I was to be critical about one thing, it would be the restaurant menu. The kids menu was excellent, however the regular menu we found a bit strange. It was fusion-ish! Strange combinations. It all tasted pretty good mind you, but I would prefer to see more true Vietnamese on there. Personal taste perhaps. A real gem. We will be back for sure! Gareth."Muang La Lodge: "Traumhafte Lodge in wunderbarer Umgebung"
"Unfortunately, only two nights we spent in this oasis of peace and tranquility. Everything was perfect, the room, the cleanliness, the breakfast, the friendliness of the staff. A trip into the mountains by jeep turned into an adventure, since due to the heavy rain in the mud despite snow chains we !! stuck. A walk and a replacement vehicle then have "liberated" us after 3 hours. After that we could relax in the hot baths and then enjoy a delicious dinner. The best hotel on the whole trip! "Blackitch Artisan Kitchen: "Amazing, friendly, creative"
If you really like great food cooked by passionate and friendly people, this is the restaurant you’re looking for. The food is first and foremost delicious. But it’s everything else that really makes this place shine. They focus on local ingredients, used with a modern sensibility in dishes that are still recognizably Thai. (Even having eaten around Thailand there was plenty we were unfamiliar with.) Each fantastic course comes with a chat with the chef - as brief or extensive as you want. These are people who want to share their love for their food with you. Honestly, as foodies, this is the meal we’d been looking for since we arrived.Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "Exceptional"
The team at Inle Heritage made my arrival in Myanmar so smooth and welcoming. The team patiently and wonderfully indulged me with all my cultural questions that I bombarded them with. Transfers were super easy and the tour of the lake was nicely curated. I am notoriously picky and there are two hotels that I have been mentioning in the same breath since my return; The Puli in Shanghai and Inle Heritage. Service was exceptional, very detailed and thoughtful. The icing on the cake is that the 6 bungalows and traditional Inthar restaurant are funding the cat + fish breeding, eco farming practices, and scholarships for 40 driven hospitality students each year. Like others have said this is not luxury and there are a little few missteps now and then from the students but it doesn't matter as it is all so personal, detailed and welcoming. From the moment of my booking Ms. Thant Zin Aye, the GM, was helpful and generous over email and in person when I arrived. Ms. Nang Khin May and Ms. Chaw Su Thet Htar were so sweet welcoming. Mr. Htun A Tint is a natural in this hospitality game and will go far! I have recommended this hotel to everyone and I would be there in a heartbeat on my next trip to Myanmar.Villa Song Saigon: "Beautiful"
This is a beautiful hotel! It is off the beaten path in a more residential area (large expat community) and we couldn't have loved that more. Being on the water was great, especially in a city that can be very congested. The area has lots of great restaurants. (If you want a nice dinner out, we had a great time at La Villa. For something more casual, the Mad House was great.) The hotel itself is beautiful and well maintained. (The first floor is somewhat of a garden level, perfect if you don't want to take any stairs, but the ceilings in our room there were low. We asked and were very promptly and graciously moved to a room on a higher level, which required taking a couple flights of stairs but was much more spacious. It really depends on what you are looking for, but if stairs aren't an issue, I would highly recommend requesting a room not on the first floor.) Breakfast is superb and the front desk is always eager to help. (They made reservations for us, called many taxis that all showed up very quickly, and even made arrangements for us to have an extra early breakfast the morning of our departure.) As others have mentioned there are stairs and no lift, so I would request a certain floor if you have a preference. Finally, they charge a lot for to pre-book transportation to and from the airport. Since the prices were so steep, we chose not to use it. Instead, we booked a pick up with another company. From the airport, it might be worth it to have them pick you up; it's very busy and chaotic. Returning to the airport, however, I would just get a cab. We just had them call a cab (they always call only certain brands of taxi) and it was $15 to go back to the airport.Reverie Siam: "Absolutely perfect"
"I don't have a single complaint about this place. Everything was amazing from the shuttle to the staff to the food to the room. The staff at this resort is the best staff I've ever met in all my travels! We joke that we want a boyfriend to treat us as well as the staff did at Reverie Siam. One example is when my friend was doing my hair and one receptionist saw and brought us bobby pins and hair ties! It's located about 5 minutes driving from the center of town but they have a free shuttle. We just called and told them where we were and they picked us up or we said where we wanted to go and they drove us there. They also drove us to the hot springs in the national park (I wouldn't recommend) and the temple on the hill. The room is super cute and clean with all natural ingredient toiletries. You get two free breakfasts and two juice/tea/coffee every day at the restaurant which is phenomenal! It's definitely much more expensive than most places in Pai but for good reason. It's more of a place for older couples (we were two girls in our early 20s and out of place). If you're looking to party and have fun and meet young backpackers I wouldn't really recommend. But we don't regret it at all! We miss it and wish we could go back!! "Cuisine Wat Damnak: "Wonderful food, setting & service"
Don't know why this is not No. 1 restaurant in Siem Reap. Have been 3 times in last 5 months and tried many other upmarket restaurants, this is by far the best. Flavours of Cambodian food explode in your mouth in a wonderful tasting presentation by the French chef. Other Cambodian restaurants try and some are very good but this is miles ahead of all others. Can't wait to go back.Misool: "Paradise"
"Was my first time diving and I do t think I could have chosen a better world location. The trip was worth the length to go to a location where you can switch off from the world. If you want relaxation or adventure it has it all! Just happens to be in one of the most amazing locations in the world. GET THERE!"Nimmu House: "Un vrai paradis"
Magique!Inle Princess Resort: "How disappointing"
"We travelled by car to the resort because our boat transfer was cancelled due to poor weather. We finally arrived at the resort down a dirt track and parked under a lean to. We were greeted by a young gentleman who said he would take us to our room. I had to ask if we were in the right place as it looked nothing like the photos on the net. He assured me it was. As we progressed, it soon became obvious that we had come in the back entrance. Our feelings went from total disappointment to one of elation. Check in was simple and efficient. Our room was clean and spacious. I could comment that there was not enough light in the room, but the intimacy it provides is all part of the charm of the place. The staff were most helpful in all areas and their genuine happiness could not be faulted. Like most of Myanmar at this stage, the SMALL imperfections in most places when compared with other 5star establishments in the rest of the world are what makes its charm. The breakfast offering is most probably a bit average but adequate. We would happily stay again and have no problem recommending it for any other couple."
