VILLA SONG SAIGON: "Charming hotel in a stunning location"
"Pure peace and tranquility next the Saigon River, absolutely stunning place which exceeded all our expectations. Beautiful, colonial style rooms with stunning views, fabulous food all served with the Vietnamese hospitality. We felt wonderfully pampered and spoiled. "Hotel Tugu Lombok: "Incredible Family Holiday Weekend!"
Hotel Tugu Lombok is a truly special and amazing place. There is something beautiful to see in every direction - from the larger than life statues and antiques that create drama and intrigue to the tiny details like the bathroom toiletries that are in clay pots or the boardgames in the dining area that are all made of wood and natural materials. Not an eye sore to be found. The attention to detail in both service and decor makes for a very luxurious experience. The food is fantastic and the presentation is beautiful. We loved both the Indonesian fare and the western options and the healthy breakfast smoothy bowls were delish. The beach is stunning and steps away from the rooms and from the restaurants. You can paddle board and snorkel right right off the beach or take a trip out a little further and see sea turtles. I can't recommend this place highly enough. You won't be disappointed.
Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"The Island Lodge: "Perfect Mekong retreat"
I spent one great night here on the banks of the impressive Mekong river. On arrival,as a business group, we were given a fantastic, warm welcome, inclusive refreshing towel and a wonderful "fruit cocktail" and tea. Check in was smooth and incredibly friendly. Michel and his Wife were on hand as part of the welcoming party. I had a very comfortable (the bed and the pillows were a perfect match for an excellent sleep) room overlooking the river. Pity we did not have our evening meal at the hotel restaurant since we had an outside appointment arranged. However, next morning I had a delightful breakfast, in the very pleasant restaurant surroundings. My hat off to the staff who created and added value to the short but memorable one nighter. If you are looking for something special on the Mekong this is highly recommended. Enjoy the Island Lodge!Jing’s Residence: "Do not miss this!"
We spent two lovely nights at this boutique hotel while visiting Pingyao. It is beautiful, serene and wonderfully restored. Our room was not large, but very well appointed with a king platform bed, desk, armoire and mini-fridge with complementary drinks and snacks. The bathroom was perfect with a large shower with great hot water pressure. We ate in the restaurant our first night, and it was terrific! As usual in China, the food was modestly priced and the wine was fairly expensive. But we thoroughly enjoyed our meal! But the thing that make this little gem excel is the staff. We travel a lot and I don't think we have ever found a place where every staff member was so welcoming! Everyone spoke English and wanted to practice their skills whenever they could. When we went out, we were welcomed back with an opened front door. When we came in for breakfast (very good and a broad selection), we were greeted by name and asked how we slept. Everyone consistently had a smile on their faces! It was a joy to stay here!Inle Princess Resort: "Relax and mellow in this beautiful setting"
"I rarely choose to review properties that have been so heavily reviewed by others -- but felt I had to given some of the absurd comments. No Wi-Fi! No TV! All I can say is YEAH!!! There are times to just get off the grid. You don't have to be connected 24-7. This is the magic of traveling to destinations such as Myanmar. We had a ""lake view"" bungalow which we enjoyed. The bird guide was nice, but the binoculars were poor (but we had brought our own, so no problem). The air conditioner struggled during the day but was fine at night. Breakfasts were solid, if somewhat uninspired. Dinners (and you're pretty much stuck here) were better than expected and more reasonably priced than we found at comparable sites (i.e. Bagan) in Myanmar. Wine selections, though, were quite limited and very costly. But the cocktails were interesting. The new swimming pool is a welcome addition. Without good road connections, you'll probably be booked here through a tour company. If not, boat access is a key and can be arranged through the hotel. Bottom line -- our favorite hotel of our 2-week trip in Myanmar"Les Maisons d’Itac: "Une excellente adresse"
In addition to being a beautiful place, everything is perfect with smile on all faces. The country side is beautiful with a lot of activities for kids and adults and places to visit. Make sure you find time to challenge the landlord on pool billard, she is very good !Hotel Tugu Lombok: "Idyllic honeymoon"
We spent the final week of our honeymoon at the Tugu & I would return in a heartbeat! A beautiful setting, nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff, fantastic spa, food, activities... We were lucky enough to have a private day on their dragon boat which included guided snorkelling - I was sceptical at first as to why anyone would need a guide but my goodness, he proved me wrong! He spotted so many creatures we would never have noticed & even managed to lead us into the middle of wild turtles swimming. Dinner on the beach was a nightly event, massages under the stars - you name it & the staff will make it happen. It was so difficult to tear ourselves away! A huge thank you to all the staff at the Tugu for giving us such a wonderful stay (especially the fab room cleaning team who made the most amazing towel animals I’ve ever seen & made us laugh every day!)4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Disconnect from tech reconnect with nature"
"So shock horror no WiFi. Fantastic! You are properly able to relax but make sure you download any books before you go. No aircon but very good fans in the tented rooms. There are tents floating on a pontoon on the river. All the tents were well appointed and you could go for a swim from the decking around the tent. Good range of activities eg kayaking, a fantastic trip to a set of waterfalls that you can swim in, and a reasonably vigorous set of walks from an 90 mins to all day if very keen and fit. It’s in a beautiful setting and trying hard and succeeding to change lives and attitudes of local villagers. Some opportunities to see wildlife eg hornbills, ospreys etc. Liked its isolation"Muang La Lodge: "So glad we chose to stay here"
"When we were looking for a place to get away from the standard visitor locations in South east Asia, this resort was proposed as an option. One of the best decisions we made on the holiday. It takes some effort to get there but it really is worth it. It is such a tranquil location, by the river with great settings for meals, the pool on the island. The rooms are excellent and the service from the staff first rate. They truly aim to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Language is a barrier at times but we were more than ok with this as given it's location this type of resort must, as it does, put a lot back to the community. The food was of a high standard and the 5 course tasting menu for dinner really suited us. High quality food and allowing you to try dishes we wouldn't normally try. What probably added the extra touch for us though were the day trip options provided. If you enjoy walking and want to see how village life in this part of Laos is, then this is perfect. With a local guide we learned so much about the culture and were able to very naturally engage with people in the villages. Relaxing in the resort after each day made for a great balance. Muang La was a real highlight of our holiday. I thoroughly recommend it. "
