Inle Princess Resort: "So much charm to his hotel!"
This is a beautiful hotel with a lot more charm that the other luxury option along the lake shore. The cocktails and drinks were exceptional and the staff were more than happy to recommend great local restaurants to us too. The spa was sensational- professional treatments in a beautiful setting. I would definitely recommend.Mathis Retreat: "Nice stay, good pool and friendly staf"
We stayed a total of 8 nights in Mathis retreat, locally known as Kenanga. We booked a room/bungalow that was a bit more luxury. It was a very nicely decorated and spacious room with a good bed. The breakfast was nice, especially the baker's selection (croissant, pain au chocolat and toast), but after 8 nights we would have liked to have a bit more choices, especially some healthy options. We had a lunch in the restaurant and it was really nice. The pool is very good, overlooking the rice fields. The last day our flight was in the evening and the manager offered us a late check out for free! Staff is very friendly. They offer a free shuttle to Ubud centre, but we preferred a scooter, which was a bit quicker. The Island Lodge: "A Great Place for Weekend Getaway"
"A very nice boutique resort, one hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City. Stayed one night at this remarkable resort for my family of four. Relaxed and enjoyed totally with the attentive service from all the staff. Restaurant offer good food and beverages with reasonable price. The sightseeing tour is sufficient and good for the kids to explore the locals in Mekong Delta. Only one negative comment is that the wifi connection in room was not stable throughout my stay at The Island Lodge. Highly recommended for a short trip stay (2 nights) away from the bustling of Ho Chi Minh City."SUMMERTIME VILLA: "Blissfully chilled"
We absolutely loved Summertime and cannot wait to go back. The owners have spent a lifetime delivering amazing holiday experiences in India and it feels like they poured all their learning and experience into creating and running this idyllic house.Muang La Resort: "We Will Go Back"
Set by the river and surrounded by beautiful countryside, this is a lovely place to stop for a few days on a trip round Northern Laos. The resort is extremely well maintained and the staff are friendly, welcoming and professional. The rooms are stylish, well equipped and very clean. The bathrooms are excellent. We went on a couple of trips in the local area while we were there, and although the weather was very wet during our stay, our excellent guide made sure we got the best out of them, which wasn't difficult as the scenery in the area is stunning. As others have said, the food at the resort is very good and the staff, rightly, take a lot of pride in it. In spite of this, they were still very tolerant of of our fussy teenagers and were happy to adapt the five course evening meals to suit them. We organised our transport through the resort, from Luang Prabang and onwards to Luang Namtha. It wasn't cheap, but was well worth it as the road from Luang Prabang to Oudomxai is poor in parts and our driver was excellent. All in all, it's hard to fault this resort, in fact it's quite remarkable to find one of such quality in such an isolated area.Dewakan: "still good….very good"
"fusion food.. east meets west. using all the local herbs and spices to produce fine dining atmosphere. amazing and impressive. location could be better but it is nice to leave the city area for such a treat. well worth a try... well done chefs! keep it up."David’s Kitchen: "Lovely and memorable birthday celebration"
Our family (with a 7yr old kid) just had dinner at David's Kitchen and it indeed lives up to its rave reviews as the top restaurant in Chiangmai. from the minute we entered the restaurant, the service was impeccable. From a personalized table signage wishing my husband and son a happy birthday to a birthday card, the birthday singing from the entire work crew and extra effort to cater to our separate tastebuds, we couldn't have asked for more for a memorable birthday celebration! I had the dinner set with the melt in your mouth pumpkin soup and beef cheeks main course. My husband had the ala carte escargots for appetizer and lobster fettuccine for his mains. It was really yummy but we thought the prawn ravioli that my son had was even better even though it cost less. The waitress was also thoughtful enough to spilt up my set menu salmon appetizer so we could both share. And another waiter was pro-active to offer my son some colouring kit to keep him occupied in a fine dining restaurant. And we also had a chance to meet David and his wife who were on hand to speak to us and wish our family the birthday greetings. His crew has certainly learnt well from the boss for all the thoughtful gestures, thank you to all!;)Villa Song Saigon: "Absolutely charming hotel"
"A haven at the edge of the Saigon River. A beautiful, peaceful spot to chill out after a hot session of sightseeing. Chef Kevin, always eager to please with innovative Western based menus liberally sprinkled with South East Asian herbs and spices, great. Restaurant and hotel staff greeting us with their gentleness and smiling faces all the time. I can only highly recommend Villa Song "Mie Cafe: "Excellent lunch"
We went here just after opening - and without a reservation - on a weekday for lunch. We were seated right away. The tasting menu was delicious and the cocktails great. Beautiful garden in front of the restaurant. Beautiful setting in the dining area. Highly recommend!Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Stunning"
Magnificently well restored 19th century Chinese Mansion, with a museum area. We could stay for four days, only. Could have stayed for weeks, it was such a good experience. Staff were super friendly, helpful, and it was as if they felt priveliged to be at the Blue Mansion. Shiro at reception was a standout with her advice and info about the Mansion. Breakfast was impressive it was so good, served in a beautiful location. The rooms were amazing. The most comfortable bed in a hotel I have ever found. Bathroom worked well. Pool was smallish, but most appreciated. The Indigo Restaurant, beautifully decorated, was definately worth while, at least once. We had a great dinner there. Guided tours several times a day. The tour we joined was run by a highly knowledgable Hakka Lady. A must do if you are staying. Will be back !
