4 rivers: "Absolutely beautiful place, such an unusual but wonderful stay"
"The setting is spectacular. It feels so remote. Although the accommodation is canvas, it is so well equipped inside it was better than some hotel rooms we'd had. Proper flushing loo and double hand basins with a lovely shower. There was no kettle in the room but the staff would bring some hot drinks over if requested. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful, it was a homely, welcoming feel. The food was excellent, and the day trips are really worthwhile. There is no wi if but its sometimes nice just to read and relax, the hotel provide DVDs as there is no cable for TV programmes, very much a get away from it all place. Over a 3 week Cambodia / Laos holiday in such a selection of hotels, this one really stands out. It is very close to the jungle so there needs to be some common sense re mosquitos etc but it really is worth a visit. We had 2 nights there, I think 4 would have been ideal."Reverie Siam: "What a wonderful place!"
We spent my wive's birthday here and it was just wonderful. The love everything here - the ambience, the room, the food, the wine and the very friendly and highly skilld personal. We will deffinitely come back with our friends to celebrate my birthday! Martin & AnnRachamankha: "Amazing hotel retreat right inside four walls of Chang mai"
This hotel is centrally located in Chang Mai and is perfect for couples looking to escape and relax after long days of exploring. The hotel has the bones and charm of being built in the 14th century with all the modern conveniences. When we come back there is no doubt where we will stay.Inle Princess Resort: "Birthday Dinner"
"We came to Inle Princess from another resort on the other side of the lake for a special birthday dinner organised by our agent. We were due to eat on the private island but unfortunately it was raining very heavily, so we ate in the wine cellar instead. I can't compare the wine cellar to the island as I never saw the island BUT the wine cellar was sooooooo gorgeous, I wasn't sad at all that we were moved. When we walked in, they'd decked it out with rose petals and candles in lotus pads. The table was made of a long canoe and the ceiling had this incredible painting of life on Inle on it. It was honestly the most beautiful wine cellar I've ever seen. They put some traditional music on and we had a waiter attending to our every need. We were then treated to a bottle of champagne and a six course feast. We started with home made breads and chutneys, then had a crispy pancake with herbs. The fish course was eel caught in the lake which we were dubious about but my goodness, it was delicious! Next came a cheese pastry with loads of yummy melted cheese in it. The main course was a selection of three meats plus a huge shrimp served with cauliflower gnocchi. The chef then came out to bring us desert herself, which was a trio of three homemade mouses served on a mini canoe. It was so pretty. She told us a bit about the food we'd eaten. Then to my surprise in burst ten or eleven resort staff, complete with a guitar and a chocolate cake, and sang happy birthday to me. They presented me with a lovely hand written card and a birthday present. As if this wasn't all enough, they then gave us homemade biscuits and the most amazing herbal tea. By this point I was stuffed and the cake had to come back with us in a box! All in all Inle Princess made this birthday very memorable for me and I wasn't expecting something so lavish. I would highly recommend them for a special occasion and for a unique dining private experience in the wine cellar!"Supanniga Eating Room: "Consistantly good"
"We've hit Supanniga again last night. Every time (twice a year) we come to Bangkok we make sure to have dinner there and have always been rewarded for sticking to good old habits. Last night was no exception. We tried to innovate choosing dishes we'd never tried before and were pleased with every single taste. Service was as always attentive. Supanigga remains a good destination for whoever is looking for good thai food with a twist in a cozy yet animated environment"muang la: "A piece of heaven in the middle of nowhere!"
"After a rough first week of travelling and very cold weather, we were thrilled to spend a couple of nights here. Gorgeous room, with HEATERS and hot water bottles, tastefully decorated, lovely bathrooms, with home grown bathsalts. The setting is delightful, on the river, and the infinity pool on its own island was a good place to unwind with a book when the sun comes out. All the little hidey holes have access to drinks and snacks and service is never far away. The spa itself, with the two huge hot spring-fed pools are elevated so you have a view of the surrounding countryside and are a panacea for weary limbs, and the massage sets you up for the next part of the journey! The five course dinner is light and carefully crafted, full of flavour, and the cocktails inventive and yummy. Little braziers kept us warm while we ate, and a large boma-type fireplace was comforting for an aperitif. We had a long walk on our free day round the local Khamu village, and enjoyed seeing village life at a slow pace, the pace it is lived. Excursions can be arranged to nearby hill tribes, but we didn't know about that. Even though the local staff dont speak much English it is good to see the management trying to give back other local community by providing jobs and an enhanced local spa for the village. I can't rate this place highly enough "David’s Kitchen: "Exceptional service and attention to detail"
"From the moment we (my husband, adult daughter, friend and myself) were collected from our accommodation, greeted warmly on arrival and chauffeured back to our hotel, our experience at David's Kitchen will be remembered as a highlight of our holiday. The staff were attentive but discreet. David's hospitality was much appreciated as was his advice on matching wines with menu choices. And the meal did not disappoint - exceeded all expectations. The food presentation was only excelled by the amazing flavours and textures of each course. I have no hesitation in recommending David's Kitchen for those visiting Chiang Mai who are looking for a very special dining experience."Nam Bo Boutique Hotel: "Excellent location"
Stayed just one night here to do the early morning market trip. Rather than battle with all the hawkers we booked a boat with the hotel as they offered a private boat to visit the market and noodle factory for just 400VND for the two of us. The hotel is spotlessly clean and has very good service. We had a suite at the front of the hotel but the bedroom was quite isolated with no view which wasn’t a problem. They gave a welcome drink plus a voucher to have drink of your choice in the roof top bar. Breakfast was excellent served at our table on the front roof terrace. Only thing which was lacking was a pool but for a one night stop over it wasn’t a problematic Highly recommend.Tugu Lombok: "Authentic Lombok getaway"
The Tugu resort is a magical place, filled with impressive architecture, artwork and relics of the island's past. The buildings are placed in various parts of this sprawling resort, which ensures that it feels quiet and relaxed, even when fully booked. The rooms are incredible: we stayed with a family of 4 (two teenagers) in a two bedroom Swarga villa with 2 outside bathrooms: the rooms cannot be faulted. They have character and individuality and still all modern amenities. The private beach offers some paddling, snorkling and kayak opportunities and obviously the Gili islands are close for an excursion. The only downside to the resort is the restaurant facilities: when we were there in August, only the main restaurant was open and the choice on the menu is limited and the quality is average (this resort needs a separate fine dining option if it is to keep attracting travellers in a gradually more competitive Lombok market), which is why we "eloped" to have dinner in the Lombok Lodge. Staff in the restaurant area is moreover not trained or motivated to the standards required of such an establishment. This being said, the location and rooms trump these improvement areas, which is why we still give it a five star rating.Supanniga Eating Room: "Great Thai food, not great street food but delicious nonetheless"
We stop by for dinner every year here and are never disappointed. It’s a nice looking restaurant lively and well designed. Staff is courteous friendly and takes care of the customers. Food is delicious, clean (no msg), served quickly. Prices are ok, plates are small so order a lot. We ordered a crab prik thai dish ( most expensive item on the menu (600 baht)) and it was fantastic. See you next year
