MesaStila: "Must-stay resort in Central Java"
The title says it all: if you travel in, or through, Central Java, you must stay in MesaStila. The resort is beautifully set in a historic coffee plantation in Java's highlands. Expect complete tranquility and Javanese hospitality. The villas are set along gentle slopes within the plantation and nature is never more than a few meters away. The villas have been carefully (re) built in local style and are quite spacious. The various common areas are spread across the property and make for a spacious, tranquil ambiance. Service is highly attentive and yet not intrusive. Last but not least, don't miss out on the spa!Maison Polanka: "A unique experience, perfectly executed"
"My reviews reveal a shameless sybarite, happily wallowing in the decadence of suites in the top hotels all over the planet; the Amans, the Four Seasons, the Six Senses, the Belmonds. Siem Reap has most of these and visitors would be served well at any one of them in their visit Angkor Wat. For something wildly different and unique, however, book the ""Khmer House"" at Maison Polanka, the best of the five available rooms. This is a lush garden, about two acres, surrounded with high walls off a bumpy, unpaved back street not too far from the main canal road and the Museum (and the Aman). Behind the electric sliding door is a beautiful, cool and shaded oasis of grass, kept wet, with high trees and flowering shrubs. It is quiet and peaceful; there is no traffic noise Khmer House is a small, simple wooden, single room building on stilts in the center of the property. The large living room is underneath the house and the equally large bedroom with a sitting veranda is above. The bedroom is air-conditioned and has fans, in addition. See the website for photos. All this at less than half the price of the chains. Dining is under an outdoor pavilion adjacent to a very nice 50 foot pool, suitable for laps and cooling off after a visit to the temples. The menu, though limited, is varied and offers excellent suggestions for any palate. We were so pleased we ate all our meals there for five days, not venturing outside. I also attended the cooking school; one student and three cooks. Lots of fun. As it turned out, a great advantage of our booking was the superb service we received with our private car with driver and guide. Our guide, ""Pich"", is a certified, uniformed guide for Angkor Wat and accompanied us on all our temple tours for two days. She arranged for the tickets and the timing for our visits to avoid crowds. (We enjoyed the sunrise over the main temple.) She is an excellent, knowledgeable guide. The driver awaited us with ice-cold towels and water when we finished each temple visit. He was also available on call and waited for us on shopping and museum visits. a very worthwhile indulgence. The staff is small but attentive and anxious to please. Upon each return to the garden, a young women awaits with a cold towel at your room. This is not ""roughing it""; it is equal luxury in a different guise. A superb alternative to the usual."David’s Kitchen: "Amazing food and excellent service"
"My fiancee and I came to David's Kitchen for our 5 year anniversary. The food was some of the highest quality food that I've ever had. They got all of the details right and the service was so remarkable. David greeted us as soon as we entered the restaurant and checked up on us several times throughout the meal. The rest of the staff was respectful and very attentive as well. We both got the set meals and could not be be happier. The Japanese pumpkin soup and grilled duck breast were my favorites. Since it was our anniversary, David's Kitchen went above and beyond to make it special - with decorated desserts and even a bouquet of flowers for my fiancee. We'll definitely be back when we return to Chiang Mai. Thank you David and Prom for such a memorable experience!"Rachamankha: "It can’t get better than this"
"This an exceptionally good hotel on so many levels. Among many outstanding attributes it has: A great position in the old city, close to the action but tucked away in a quiet spot. A beautiful, interesting building with many nooks and crannies. Wonderful staff. The front desk manager Wanida was superb leading up to and during our stay. Large, extremely comfortable and well-equipped rooms. A large, inviting pool. A good restaurant. Beautiful gardens. This hotel displays the standards to which all quality hotels should aspire."muang la: "So glad we chose to stay here"
"When we were looking for a place to get away from the standard visitor locations in South east Asia, this resort was proposed as an option. One of the best decisions we made on the holiday. It takes some effort to get there but it really is worth it. It is such a tranquil location, by the river with great settings for meals, the pool on the island. The rooms are excellent and the service from the staff first rate. They truly aim to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Language is a barrier at times but we were more than ok with this as given it's location this type of resort must, as it does, put a lot back to the community. The food was of a high standard and the 5 course tasting menu for dinner really suited us. High quality food and allowing you to try dishes we wouldn't normally try. What probably added the extra touch for us though were the day trip options provided. If you enjoy walking and want to see how village life in this part of Laos is, then this is perfect. With a local guide we learned so much about the culture and were able to very naturally engage with people in the villages. Relaxing in the resort after each day made for a great balance. Muang La was a real highlight of our holiday. I thoroughly recommend it. "Satri House: "Une splendide adresse, une très belle maison"
"Grandes chambres, belles piscines, restaurant délicieux, service plein de bonne volonté, jardin et spa très agréable, beaucoup de goût dans la décoration. Prêt de vélos.Quartier calme. Probablement l'un des pus beaux hôtels du Laos. Stayed December 2016, traveled as a couple"Dewakan: "interesting restaurant"
Restaurant trying to create not replicate. very refreshing, very affordable as its set in an educational building. The Island Lodge: "Perfect"
"We loved the Island Lodge. The resort is beautiful and serene, particularly after experiencing the bustle of HCMC. Our room was spacious with a generous balcony overlooking the pool and the river beyond. Great pool with plenty of loungers, shaded and unshaded. Attentive and efficient staff. The owner made a point to personally welcome us and was on hand to say good-bye. We highly recommend the spa- the herbal massage was possibly the best we'd ever had. We enjoyed our meals in the restaurant and thought the prices were reasonable. The only negative aspect of our stay is that it wasn't long enough. Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"Tugu Lombok: "Outstanding and unique!"
We recently enjoyed a three day stay in a Bhagavat Gita suite (107) filled with antiques, artwork and the biggest most comfortable bed we have ever slept in! The service was impeccable and the food wonderful. Make sure you have a beach dinner one night - just magic. The outdoor shower is also amazing! I would highly recommend a stay here and we certainly hope to go back.Hotel Tugu Lombok: "Simply the best"
Had this short break from work few months ago, and a friend recommended Tugu as we’re familiar with the group’s restaurant in Jakarta. The stay was the highlight after spending time in Gili, meals were surprisingly good although a bit pricy, amazing location, and the service was excellent. Thumbs up for all the staff, so friendly and super helpful. Will definitely comeback next year! YEAYY
