Rahai’i Pangun: "Fantastic four days up the river in Tanjung Puting"

Review by: Robert R | Source: Trip Advisor
"What else can I say that others haven't already said? WOW Borneo does an amazing job making sure your visit to Tanjung Puting will be one of your most memorable experiences ever. From the amazing, spacious Klotok boat, to the tasty and abundant food, to the little things like passing out a cool wash cloth when you return from shore, these guys are really and truly committed to their work. One really nice example: at the start of the trip we changed our plans to spend more nights on the boat rather than stay for a night at Rimba Lodge. Our friends at WOW handled the change gracefully and promptly wired back the funds I had pre-paid for the hotel. My only wish, and it's small, was to get more local historical and cultural insight (in English) from our guide, Pretty - who to be fair is relatively new on the job. Despite this I always knew our needs would be foreseen and met, and I know my companions came away from our rainforest encounter with a profound send of new awareness and inspiration."

Jing’s Residence: "Wonderful stay in Pingyao"

Review by: KarenYfromDenver2016 | Source: Trip Advisor
In keeping with the character of Pingyao, Jing's Residence takes you a step back in time. Beginning with the graciousness of the front desk, the excellence of the dining room and the total comfort of the rooms, guests are treated assortment of teas, dried dates, turn down treats and farewell gifts. I wanted my stay to last forever. This is the place to stay while in Pingyao.

Slow Villas and Spa: "So well thought"

Review by: Mads P | Source: Trip Advsor
"This place is extraordinary. We stayed for 4 nights. We are a family of 4, 2 adults and an almost 5 yr and an almost 2 yr old. We stayed in the 1 room villa with a baby cod. The almost 5 yr old slept in the big bed with us. Not ideal but it was ok. Slow did offer a separate additional bed for the 5 yr old but it would have taken up quite some space, leaving almost none left. We would go back anytime and even stay as we did of that is the only option. Indoor outdoor melts together when sliding up the 3 big glass doors facing the pool. The garden is big and leaves you with the impression that it could have been smaller without reducing your feeling of it being spacious. The bath room is outdoors. Nicely build and designed as the rest."

Discover Muang La | Visit Laos | Luxury & Boutique Hotel: "Amazing"

Review by: CLPUk | Source: Trip Advisor
This is the quite likely the best place I have ever stayed. The service and attention to detail was exceptional. This was our first time in Laos with friends and we felt we really got to see and do so much in the area on a four night stay. Any less than four nights would not give you enough time to appreciate the lodge. The visits to the local villages were fascinating. The food at Muang La was brilliant and even though it was much cooler mornings and evenings, fire pits were brought to our table so we were warm. A truly beautiful place and wonderful staff.

Talabgaon Castle Heritage Resort: "oasis of a hotel"

Review by: 25chris2525 | Source: Trip Advisor
"This hotel was used on a recent Travelsphere tour. Fantastic place, like stepping back in time, but with all the mod cons. Everything has been thought of in this comfortable hotel, with a touch of the 'marigold hotel' in its appearance. A lovely touch of times gone by, with lovely comfortable rooms, and beautiful food. It sits on the edge of a village , where we visited the local school on a visit, and met villagers. We were made so welcome, and the owner joined us for Indian dancing and a barbecue by the lovely pool."

David’s Kitchen: "Can I find some original words to express our satisfaction for dinner at David’s Kitchen?"

Review by: pachen | Source: Trip Advisor
"Arrived in Chang Mai just 4 hours prior to walking into David's Kitchen, no reservation nor any idea of how popular and fully booked the place always is....never mind, David and his staff welcomed us very kindly and did the miracle: few minutes later a table with personalized welcome card was waiting for us :) The environment is very pleasant, dinner at DK is more than just food: lights, music, smells, all senses are pleased at David's. Menu is very interesting and variated. DIshes are elegantly presented, I recommend the pomelo salad and the duck breast with orange sauce, both excellent, but I would say that every dish we chose has been very good. The wine list is very complete and desserts suggestions are very inviting. Finally the staff has been very professional and kind all the way through, including the lift back they gave us in the restaurant's car at the end of dinner. So, maybe I did not manage to say many new things on David's place and I will finish with another obvious one: we are going to go back there before we leave from Chang Mai!"

Muang La Lodge: "Comfort in Northern Laos"

Review by: voyageur à paris | Source: Trip Advisor
"This was our second trip to Laos and we decided to go further afield to the northern part of the country to trek and explore the region. The Muang La resort was a very welcome refuge in an area that has really not seen considerable investment in tourism infrastructure. The resort is all inclusive and does a very good job looking after its guests. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and offer up nice views of the river and mountains. Our three days of trekking were organized by the hotel. Each day was a discovery, and while strenuous, our hiking took us up mountains to remote villages inhabited by Khmu and Hmong. We also visited jungle waterfalls, local markets, temples and rice fields. Our guide was terrific and he gave us access to places I'm sure we would not have been able to discover. After a challenging day of hiking, it was great to get back to the hotel, soak in one of the hot tubs fed by a natural spring, have a swim in the pool, accessed by a bridge suspended across the river, and play with the adorable baby monkey adopted by the hotel staff. The food at the hotel was very good - with diverse choices available, including both Laotian and foreign food. The hotel provided us with packed lunches for our treks, typically a rice or noodle preparation wrapped in banana leaf, accompanied by local fruits. There are nice walks to do right from the hotel -- crossing the river in the nearby town and wandering into the local villages on the opposite bank is interesting, and the return to the hotel side can be done on a river raft built from bamboo by one of the local farmers. The hotel plays an important role in the local community, providing employment and management and language training to the local population. All staff, apart from the hotel director, are Laotian. I'd highly recommend this property for a visit to this part of Laos. It's well worth the 5 to 6 hour drive from Luang Prabang, through breathtaking scenery, especially on the stretch from Pak Ou. Heading back to Luang Prabang, we took a river boat for part of the journey, again arranged by the hotel. Pack good walking shoes, an adventurous spirit, and a curious mind and you will love the Muang La resort and all it has to offer."
