David’s Kitchen: "Paiboon WAIQUAMDEE"
"Great place, great location and super great food and staff. They deserve to be number one. I like the mushroom soup. The red-meat main courses are all superb. Will try fish next visit. The wine selection is quite abundant and diverse. Would love to see ""Chablis"" in the list though. I give them 3-star Michelin equivalent. Appreciate personalized welcome amenities, one of a kind. Thumbs up."Satri House: "Wonderfully peaceful boutique hotel"
"Had a wonderful time at Satri house in late August for the first few days of our honeymoon. The whole hotel is full of the most fascinating antiques and curios, and is really beautifully designed. We stayed up in the Satri House suite, in the building where the prince of Laos used to sleep! The suite was so beautiful, and had a view over the serene swimming pool. If you are a fan of vintage and mid-century antiques, you will love it! Whilst staying at Satri House (due to it being the raining season) there were no other guests, so we were treated to the experience of staying in our 'own private mansion' with all of the fabulous and incredibly helpful staff there to cater for our every need. Just perfect! No matter the time of day or how late we had been out, we always returned to the hotel to find 4 people at the front desk ready to help us, and two behind the pool side bar, just in case we fancied ordering a drink! The food deserves special mention too. Dinner on the first night was delicious - lots of carefully crafted local specialities with 5* presentation. Although the hotel is set away from the main part of town, it's still within walking distance or a very easy 2 minute tuk tuk ride. We preferred being slightly further out as the peace and quiet was exactly what we wanted at the end of the day. "Maisons Wat Kor: "A blissful get-away – highly recommend"
"A hidden local architecture hotel with a beautiful pound surrounded by the green garden setting has created a wonderful atmosphere in the evening. We had a great experience from the moment we arrived by a great hosted and really make us feel at home. It was an unforgettable memory with family and we absolutely can't wait to return ❤️!"David’s Kitchen: "Wonderful spot for a honeymoon dinner"
We at at David's during our honeymoon and really enjoyed it. The wine selection was great and the food was incredible. We highly suggest the Braised Beef Cheek as well as the Pumpkin Soup if they have it. Staff was extremely attentive, almost too much as points but thats better than the opposite. Would definitely come back to David's again next time we are in town.Supanniga Luxury Bangkok River Cruises: "Lovely relaxing cruise on the river"
I have done the Shangri La cruise, a cruise on one of the big party boats and this Supanigga cruise, I have to say this was the nicest with by far the most authentic Thai food. The staff who served us were charming and discreet and one did not feel ripped off as people have mentioned on other cruises. There was a free flow of bottled water and the drinks were not overly expensive. I would not recommend this cruise for young kids but for a romantic evening for a couple or an adult family or friends group it isn’t ideal. A nice touch was the crew singing happy birthday to my brother and a lady at the next table with a candle stuck into the mango sticky rice dessert. I thought this was far better than serving a cake for a birthday meal as usually one is too full to eat the cake anyway. Overall a big thumbs up to this cruiseMesaStila: "Jewel in the heart of Central Java"
"We traveled the world and stayed in some of the most beautiful hotels but we have to say that Mesa Stila is a class of its own. The fantastic combination of Dutch colonial buildings and the most beautiful Javanese historic villas in the middle of a functioning organic coffee plantation surrounded by impressive volcanoes is second to none. We loved the restaurant with its organic vegetables from the resort's own garden. Every meal we had during our 9 days at Mesa Stila was delicious, beautifully presented, well sized and well prized (we usually had two courses each, one or two vegetable side dishes, water, tea, or fresh fruit juice or beer and never paid more than app. 40 US$ which is OK for a 5 star resort even for Java). Breakfast was very good and never boring. A special treat at breakfast was a complimentary health tonic of herbal combinations presented by the Jamu lady. We also enjoyed the complimentary high tea in the afternoon as well as the free yoga classes and all the other activities offered by the resort. The villa we stayed in (Merapi 3) was spacious, beautifully decorated with Javanese antiques had a gorgeous bathroom with a sunken bathtub and a huge deck with stunning views. We loved the magic pool and of course the Hamman Spa for the most relaxing massages. Top of all is the wonderful staff. Always friendly, good English speaking and very helpful. We loved our stay at Mesa Stila and can absolutely recommend this jewel in the heart of Java to everyone."Slow Villas and Spa: "Amazing place"
"Nice an relaxing. Great service. All the mod cons. Probably the most luxurious accommodation on the island. The Indonesian BBQ that you can order on request is amazing. Great aircon, pool, beds, little kitchen and even a USB with shows on it in case you want a lazy afternoon watching Human Planet, Bikes and lights supplied. Great architecture, happy helpful staff. Massage included, yoga sessions, Pilates. Just Amazing"Cuisine Wat Damnak: "Khmai food and hospitality at its best"
A really good restaurant. The food was top notch - Khmai food with an added twist. The service was first rate and the setting very conducive to a wonderful evening - highly recommended and not too costlyMuang La Resort: "Relaxing setting, great food and lovely staff"
We spent three days at Muang La resort. We went in the low season so had the resort (10 room resort) to ourselves. We had a river view room (highly recommend) and we could hear the relaxing sounds of the river flowing outside our room. The resort has two elevated hot tubs, using water from the hot natural springs. We enjoyed a Lao massage too. The resort is set on the river, which is constantly used by the local villagers to fish and bathe. We organised a couple of excursions once we had arrived. This was probably easy for us to do as we were the only residents. The food was great. Every night there was a five course set menu based on local Laos cuisine. Breakfasts were great, with tropical fruits, divine home made yoghurt, croissants and scrolls, as well as eggs as you like them. Nothing is too much trouble. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The village of Muang La is a little difficult to get to but worth the effort. I am happy to recommend Muang La.Rachamankha: "Peaceful and Serene haven in the old walled city"
As soon as you enter the hotel grounds you can see that this is a beautifully maintained hotel and it is like stepping into a different world from the hot and busy walled city. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the quiet peaceful child free atmosphere, the spacious pool (although unattended so you have to take your own water down from your room) which at times we had completely to ourselves. Breakfast was freshly prepared from the kitchen for any hot items with a small buffet of cereals, breads, fruit etc. in the air conditioned restaurant - excellent real leaf teas and fresh juices. As others have said the hotel is perfectly maintained with lovely antique furniture. For us the wifi worked well and apart from no conditioner amongst the Molton Brown toiletries it couldn't be faulted - would stay here again in an instant.
