Manda De Laos: "Great experience, great celebration and great food"
"Went there yesterday evening for my wife secret birthday so emailed the restaurant few weeks ago as we knew we would be in Luang Prabang that specific day. The restaurant manager replied really promptly confirming dates hours etc. The restaurant looks stunning and give you a first great impression. Our good surprise was to find out that the restaurant manager gave us the special table in the middle of the pond so you get your privacy. I didn't know even myself so was really impressed and happy. Makes it quite romantic and perfect for the occasion. Food also was great, we had lao pork meatballs to start to share, for main we had the ribs and duck, was delicious. For desert we were full so shared a lovely coconut creme brulee. Then came another surprise after our desert with staff bringing another desert with candle and singing happy birthday. Such a nice and sweet attention mainly when I did not ask for anything but manager had the note from my reservation it was special occasion. We truly enjoyed our dinner and can only recommend it. Not a criticism as it did not affect our happiness but small constructive information, the cocktail menu has lots of vodka based drinks (all expect one based on whisky). Unfortunately that's the only alcohol my wife does not drink so would be nice to have other cocktail options. The other thing more informative for people who have never been, the food is quite refine and we would usually not go when travelling in South East Asia. It was mainly because it was special occasion for us so if you are like us you might not enjoy it but again all was amazing. It is definitely more expensive than average Lao prices but not overpriced for the service and food we had. Just thought I would mention this as I saw some bad reviews on this place which I think is more due to choosing not suitable place than the restaurant itself not being great. Hope that make sense. This was the last venue of a bespoke tour organised by Trailfinders and it was an excellent way to finish a memorable 10 days in Kerala. We stayed 2 days, but 5 would be infinitely preferable! There are two retaurants, one upmarket indoor with a wide menu, but we favoured the beach restaurant, for breakfast and evening meals, specialising in fish and, for our last meal, lobster - fantastic! The service could not be bettered and, even for our short stay, staff recognised and greeted us regularly. We flew from Calicut airport, via Abu Dhaby to UK but its a long drive there. There is a smaller much nearer airport at Mangalore which might be worth looking at. This is a super venue for chilling out with its infinity pool.David’s Kitchen: "INCREDIBLE"
The experience and food at this restaurant was one of my top highlights in my Southeast Asia trip. David is the most friendly, attentive restaurant owner I've ever met. The food was incredible - I still dream of the gnocchi and pumpkin soup. The service is unmatched. We were greeted with a sign for our table, a rose, and a personal email from David later that night. "Kindness and grace characterize the resort located in what must be as close to paradise in a rural setting as one can get. Rui, Raphael, dun and the entire staff are there to insure that your visit is as near perfection as is possible. WE visited The Resort for three nights in February when it was quite cool. No problem as blanket and charcoal fire pots were there to warm us at meals. The trip to local tribal villages showed us a part of Laos that is fast changing. The scenery on the drive was amazing. One day we walked through rice paddies and to a local temple. This is an experience never to be forgotten. You will not find a better place to get a real sense of rural Laos at a resort that combines authenticity and service. "Had the pleasure of checking in here on first visit to HCMC upon recommendation. If you want a stylish hotel with service , comfort , location & general ambience look no further. With the Saigon River flowing by, carrying all manner of traffic from vessels plying their trade to rafts of Hyacinth, one feels at peace as you sit on the terrace with a view doing your Trip A reviews. This is a cracking place, staff are great, always smiling and happy to help. A river Taxi operates from the hotel jetty to the city which transports you in pure 007 style. Has a fab pool area where you can loaf to your hearts content. Rooms are modern with all comforts attended to. Nice bathroom, everything works and more. Yes, enjoyed it here very much. "When we watched John Torode's Malaysia programme back in the UK , he showed this place and so we booked it for our last night in KL. I have to admit as it got closer I got concerned that we had made a mistake. No malaysian we spoke to in KL had heard of the place and it soon became apparent that it was on the outskirts of town, a good hour away from central KL and forms part of the KDU campus. I need not have worried however. The whole experience from start to finish was brilliant. The service was attentive, the team enthusiastic about the food and the food itself was inventive and interesting. We had the 17 course tasting menu and every dish was different and innovative in its use of traditional Malay ingredients. Notable dishes included a perfectly rendered crispy duck skin over succulent rare duck meat, as well as the almost Heston Blumenthal like childish fun of putting together the slow baked red snapper in broth dish. There was only one dish we didn't particularly enjoy, which was the prawn dish and we found the texture of the raw prawns a bit odd, but it was clever cooking nonetheless with the flavour combination. This place is worthy of a Michelin star. My only concern is that being so far out of town and having only 10 tables, it is not getting enough clientele. So please, please if you enjoy inventive and innovative cuisine, go to this restaurant."SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Excellent experience"
"This place make me forget I am in Yangon. Like Switzerland or some place in Europe except the temperature on the day. Starting from amuse, allure us and dishes we have also excellent. If there are at least one closed room it is best for business too. I have to report that they made best effort to make separate table and works perfect for the occasion of that day for us. "I have been to TUGU Bali few times and every time it is more and more relaxing and pleasant. I find great the idea that a guest can have breakfast at ANY TIME without bothering about timing..and ANYWHERE (pool, room, sea front...). The spa is also very pleasant! and if you have time you can also follow a cooking class..!!...I always felt pampered at TUGU!!....and, last but not least, the staff is excellent, professional and always caring about the guests needs. I will returner sure!"
