Bassac Cruises: "A feast for the eyes, mind and stomach!"
We boarded the Bassac 2 at Cai Be and sailed overnight to the floating market in Can Tho. Before boarding the boat we were taken to a place that produced coconut candy along with other products and we also visited a traditional village en route. There were twenty guests on the boat who were good company. The food was very good and our cabin comfortable. Our guide An made the experience informative and enjoyable.TIGER MOUNTAIN POKHARA LODGE: "Fabulous Respite"
"We stayed here after a grueling six day trek, and what a welcome reward it was! From the moment we disembarked from our jeep, up the steep driveway to the property, our entire group was awed. Literally perched on a mountain top, you have sweeping views from both sides of the mountain. The villas scattered around the property work to maintain privacy, while the beautiful common area has little nooks for privacy, or you can choose to sit on the beautiful verandah, to take in the views, have a drink and rest. The dinner, meanwhile, was delicious, with the tables elegantly set in a non-pretentious way. The villa was beautifully decorated, and again, after our hard work and life in a tent on the trek, the luxurious bed and bathroom was so welcomed! It is truly a retreat - either from the demands that wonderful Nepal asks of you as her traveler, or from the demands that your daily life asks of you. I will certainly return - and might just take in one day in Kathmandu, then come directly back to Tiger Mountain Lodge for three days of beautiful relaxation and rejuvenation. "Locavore: "A great dining experience"
I NEVER take photos of food. I cannot say that anymore. I took photos of every course and even the drinks. We had dinner there. Choice between 5 and 7 course meal. We went with the 5 course and worried that our 20 year old son might be hungry afterwards. First of all, it is not a 5 course meal - there are lots of other mini courses. And our son was full. Try the drinks and unless you need to pair wines with your food, keep to the drinks which are very good. You have a choice between meat and vegan meals. And we split it between our group of 4. One of the best meals we have had in a long time. Very good service too. Make a reservation online ahead of time to ensure being able to go there. For 4 people including drinks, around $75 per person which really is not bad for a meal of this caliber.Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "A unique experience, best service you can find"
"We have traveled a lot around the world in both high luxury hotels and small guesthouses, but we must admit that I have rarely had such a nice experience as the one we got at Thahara Inle Heritage. To us, this hotel has it all : the luxury bungalows with quiet private terrace right in the middle of Inle lake (that you would expect to find in a a 5* hotel) and the adorable welcoming service that you can only find in small intimate guesthouses. Plus, the food is divine (and the breakfast, Oh My !) and very much affordable for the location, so what more can we ask for ? Well, you could wish that your money goes to a good cause, and it does. Thahara Inle Heritage is part of the not-for-profit training center that prepare local young people for careers in restaurants and hotels. That explains the amazing and welcoming service ! It also had its own amazing garden full of delicious vegetables, which explains the amazing local cuisine of their restaurant, and works towards full sustainability, so you are assured to contribute to a green stay. You can also take part in one of their cooking class if you have time, surely the best one you can find in the country ! Or you can just wander around the Thahara, pay a visit to their Burmese cat center or check out their local Aquarium. Or you can hop on a boat and head to Nampan market, 5 minutes away, or leave for a memorable boat drive to the Sankar, on the very southern shores of the lake. Endless possibilities, total freedom, breathtaking views. Definitely the highlight of our trip to Myanmar. PS: as for the previous comment, fear nothing if you are a light sleeper, Thahara provides you with earplugs in your room, though we did not need them. And if you are afraid to be cold at night on the lake, you will be happily surprised to find hot water bottles in your bed to warm you up when you come back to your bungalow at night. Brilliant. Stayed January 2016"David’s Kitchen: "Fantastic restaurant"
David's Kitchen is a superb restaurant offering exquisite French cuisine and absolutely top-notch service at an affordable price. From the beginning it was clear David and Prom play close attention to detail and do everything possible to provide a warm and personalized dining experience, greeting guests and treating us as friends rather than customers. Undoubtedly one of my best restaurant experiences all around.MesaStila: "A trip to Paradise"
"Have just returned from a holiday to Indonesia that started with a fabulous 7 nights at Mesa Stila. Walking onto the verandah of our beautiful house every morning, with a cup of coffee made from the beans grown on the estate and seeing the spectacular view of volcanoes and hearing the sounds of the jungle was truly magical. The staff here are so friendly and attentive to your every need. The food is delicious and uses produce grown on the estate, as well as homemade yoghurt, ice cream, sorbets, bread etc. Do try the coconut porridge for breakfast and the pina colada salad is a revelation! Do also go to the spa and indulge in a massage. Every treatment starts with a spell in the steam room and finishes with a refreshing pot of ginger tea and small treats. The masseurs are excellent, Citra has the tiniest hands but a powerful, healing touch. We were very grateful to Erny for organising our treatments so thoughtfully. There's a great programme of events too but walking around the grounds and lying by the infinity pool gazing into the jungle left me truly refreshed and ready to face the world again. I hope I'll be returning soon! "Mrauk U Princess Resort: "Beautiful Hotel in a Beautiful Land"
This hotel is an absolute haven. Mrauk U is an incredible destination but can leave the traveller feeling a little worn, dusty and disorientated. The Mrauk U Princess Resort provides a calm, orderly and natural space to gather your thoughts and feel gently pampered. The food is very good and given the difficulties in sourcing ingredients such as wheat and coffee, provides an almost miraculous feat of delivering crispy, fresh croissants for breakfast every morning (make sure your come after 7.20am when they come out of the oven) with excellent coffee. Local food is also good, with delicious soup noodles for breakfast, and good salads and curries at night. The rooms are large and comfortable. I had a very small accident, entirely my own fault, but the hotel staff were responsive and professional, providing very good, simple but thorough medical care. One of the more remarkable experiences was hearing the wealth of sounds through the night as the environment is very natural and not subjected to the chemical exposure that many tropical resorts use. The result is a nighttime symphony of frogs, crickets, and cicadas.Arumdalu: "Incredible Private Resort on Beautiful Belitung Island!"
"My husband and I enjoyed five fantastic nights at Arumdalu Private Resort. We were actually the only guests at the time, so our visit was indeed private! William greeted us at the airport, and took excellent care of us at the resort. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners, Mr. Agus and Ms. Siannie, along with their son, Albert, and daughter, Caroline, and they were extremely kind and welcoming. Our chefs, Tonny and Anton, prepared delicious Indonesian dishes that were served by Dana, Angie, Cha Cha, and other wonderful staff at the beautiful Sahang Beachfront Cafe and Resto. A wonderful young man, Sue Wep, taught us how to make our own batiks, which was a new and enlightening experience. Our driver, Mr. Insani, was very competent. Lovely Meela, at reception, was very welcoming. We enjoyed a day trip with William and Mr. Insani around the island, enjoying excellent coffee, delicious lunch, and spectacular scenery. Upon leaving the resort, we were presented with a fabulous gift of a beautiful batik and a collection of post cards of the resort. It was an excellent vacation on a remote Indonesian island, accessible by a one-hour flight from Jakarta. "Inle Princess Resort: "Blends with the natural landscape"
The hotel is well located and the rooms are all bungalows. Its a romantic setting just walking t o your room. Supplies are hard to get so the hotel is a bit rough around the edges, but that gives it some of its charm. The dinning room and bar are beautiful and the service very attentive. All of the burmese people are wonderful and friendly.tugu bali: "Romantic 10 year anniversary celebration"
"This was the perfect place to have a night away from our 5 year old to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! We felt like we were a million miles away in the serene setting provided by the hotel. This is a must for any trip to Bali! The cultural night on Thursday adds such a special touch to our evening! "
