Slow Villas and Spa: "Relaxing, privacy, surrounded by nature and friendly staff"
"Great villa, with everything you possibly need! Cannot say anything bad about this location (except from the fact that their price for the boat to go to Bali is way too expensive - go to the harbour and negotiate the price over there!) I love the fact that they use environmentally friendly products! Definitely want to come back!!"Samanea Beach Resort: "Perfect for families"
"We stayed with several friends at Samanea, most of them families with kids, who loved the setting and the experience at the hotel. The villas are probably the largest in Kep, with huge beds and sitting areas. The showers are a special experience, and the outside seating areas are comfortable in rain or sun. The pool area is excellent, with a great size suitable for both kids and adults. The view of the sea is stunning, with a huge pier that is great for photos and sunsets! There are so many places on the resort to relax, with the nice canopy of trees, pool area, and sea view. It is not walkable to Kep beach or the crab market, so definitely need some sort of tuk tuk or rental transportation. What we were stunned most by was the excellent service--accommodating all of our needs and always helpful with all of our requests. Definitely recommended for long stays in Kep!"Tugu Bali: "A Hidden Gem – Romantic and Relaxing"
We had a wonderful stay at Tugu, Bali whose mission is to bring back to life the art, soul and romance of Indonesia and it certainly does. It was by far my favourite hotel on the island. There are so many wonderful historical artefacts on the property, we really enjoyed wondering the hotel to look at them and learn about some of Bali's history. The hotel’s theatrically large entrance lobby creates an impression of grandeur. While there are plenty of unique areas to enjoy a romantic breakfast/lunch/dinner. What I loved about Tugu was the friendly staff and the attention to detail. Staying true to the romance element, when our room was turned down, beautiful poems were left by the bed with an array of fresh local flowers. The bath in our suite was incredible and the flower petals added to the ambiance. For Honeymooners and anyone looking for something a little bit special -Tugu is a must!SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "A Meal to Remember"
We dined here about two weeks ago. A truly fantastic meal and incredibly beautiful outdoor space. It is expensive but well worth the cost. My only complaint would be I hate it when the owner of a restaurant stops by the tables and asks how your meal is. I guess some people might like that, but I'd prefer to be left in peace. Anyhow, this was the best meal I've had since an incredible dinner two years ago in Madrid.Tugu Bali: "An absolute gem. Stop searching: stay here"
"We really struggled to find the right hotel to stay at on the beach in Bali, after a three night stay in Ubud. We considered all of the top properties including the Legian, the W, the Oberoi, and the Alila in Uluwatu, but finally decided on the Tugu -- a dark horse pick! We are not fans of most major chains, and really liked the idea of staying at an authentically Indonesian boutique property. We were not at all disappointed by our choice. Firstly, with regard to location, I think we did the right thing by staying in Canggu over Seminyak. We enjoyed driving to Seminyak (about 30 minutes away) for evening drinks and dinner, but had no regrets at all about not staying there. Seminyak is pretty congested, very commercial, and the beaches can be dirty. I love going to the mall as much as the next person, but I did not want to be staying next door to one while on my vacation to Bali! Canggu, in contrast, was peaceful, had no huge high rise hotel developments and malls, and we were within walking distance of plenty of chilled out restaurants and bars. The stretch of beach in front of the Hotel Tugu, despite being fully open to the public, was spotless. The hotel has a private garden area that overlooks this beach, which has sun loungers, beds, towel and food service. Bear in mind, however, that this is a surfing beach, with fairly large waves and strong currents. We are confident swimmers and went in for dips every day, but did not swim out far as the currents were very powerful. If you're hoping for calm and peaceful seas, you may need to look elsewhere. Now on to the hotel. We loved the traditional architecture and the beautiful gardens on the property -- you really cannot get this kind of charm and character at any of the international chains. The hotel owner's art and artefact collection is truly incredible, and we enjoyed exploring every nook and cranny of the grounds to gawk at his one-of-a-kind pieces. This is an all-suite hotel so both of our rooms were very generously sized, one with a balcony and the other with a little patio with a swing and plunge pool. One minor niggle though: the AC in one of our rooms did not work very well and struggled to cool the room. Our stay came with complimentary afternoon tea each day, which was quite elaborate and enjoyable. Breakfast is also quite the affair, as the staff will bring it to you anywhere on the property -- no crowded breakfast buffets here. The staff was always smiling and never failed to accommodate our requests. We must also give a special shoutout to the GM Jenny, who was so warm and personable throughout our visit. She was never too busy for us, and in fact, made it a point to stop and chat whenever she saw us around. Again, I know I sound like a broken record, but this kind of personalised service is just not seen at the international chains. Finally, I also need to write a short note about the Tugu's fabulous new Japanese restaurant Ji. Our family lived in Japan for over a decade and we are complete Japanese food snobs. We were quite skeptical about trying the restaurant, as we could not imagine that it would live up to expectations. Well, we were blown away. Our dinner at Ji was probably one of the best of our entire trip. Every dish was on point, from the tempura to the tenderloin steak. And the setting is just mind-blowing -- the restaurant is situated inside a 12th century Balinese temple. Huge kudos to whoever was involved in designing and developing the restaurant."The Island Lodge: "A gem on the Mekong river"
"A peaceful place located on a small island on the Mekong river. Perfect gate away from Ho Chi Min. Nice view on the river. Great staff and team. Awesome a la carte breakfast much better than any buffet. Possible to take boat to visit the other islands and not far away from Cai Be floating market. Very authentic and warm welcome. Do not hesitate...run for it."Tugu Lombok: "Second time…. in Hotel Tugu… even better"
"My wife and I had the chance to come back to Hotel Tugu, in Lombok... You know that when the first time is memorable, your expectations for the second time might become a bad reference. This is not the case in this hotel. We planned, this time, more than three days of stay... this time it was a week!. We discovered some new and wonderful corners of the hotel; we walked along the wide beach... almost alone, just some fishermen coming back or reparing their nets.... that's only can be experienced over there... all connected to the hotel. The staff remembered our names and, even the type of breakfast we used to have.... that's only can be expected in Hotel Tugu Lombok. Palm trees, green grass and white sand... together with the coral reefs at walking distance! !!.... all the staff led by Elly and Henry do an outstanding job. ... you gave us a lot of happiness!... Thank you all for your warming care.... I hope other travelers are going to have the chance to enjoy as we did."Jing’s Residence: "A lovely special experience"
We had a great time not the least because of the great staff. A truly beautiful place with a very special atmosphere. Lovely decorated modern rooms with traditional elements in place. And a great restaurantVilla Song Saigon: "So friendly it feels like home"
"HCMC is chaotic and after a day in the city it is so nice to come ""home"" to this wonderful place. The shuttleboat is great and so is the food and the poolarea. Perfect for families as well as for couples. Stayed February 2017, traveled with family"Jing’s Residence: "An absolute pleasure in every way"
This boutique hotel has struck an exquisite balance between ancient and modern. The authentic courtyard building has retained its innate period charm, whilst they’ve managed to install some sort of genius plumbing/electrical system behind the scenes so that the facilities are absolutely up-to-date and reliable, with brilliant hot spa-like showers w/ plenty of pressure. The rooms are all different (in shape, size, and decor), supremely comfortable, and beautifully designed. Simple, elegant, traditional courtyard style with a touch of Indonesian influence I’d say. The rooms are laid out around a series of courtyards and lantern-lined stone corridors that make you feel like you’ve time travelled. A lovely, special place. I only wish I could find more places like Jing Residence in China! xx
