Bassac Cruises: "Not too big, not too small, just right for couples – highly recommend"
My wife & I were running out of time and only did a 2 day/1 night but we were glad we did the Bassac Mekong Cruise (we were on Bassac II) . BestPriceTravel organised a lovely guide Annie and we were so very pleased with the boat quality, the crew service and Annie's informative talks (Annie spent college years in Melbourne - so a good english speaker). The boat looks older but inside it is very modern and although the rooms are small, these are more than enough for a 1 or 2 day cruise as ideally, you will be up on deck watching the interesting Mekong river activities, waiting for an excellent dinner. We stopped of in a village, did a floating markets and a land market and a couple of candy factories. I'd taken several pens and paper 'packs' in ziplock waterproof bags to distribute to young ones and Annie help pick a some candidates that were less fortunate and even convinced the guy driving the boat to pull alongside a floating market trader - the smiles from the children and their mums were worth all the effort of taking and giving. We had based ourselves in Saigon and although the drive to and from the Mekong was a few hours each way the journey was worth it. Great food, educational, and some really interesting sights.Neeleshwar Hermitage: "outstanding"
A peaceful, comforatble place in which to be restored. A wonderful beach and a great sea of small, and very warm, waves for the children to bound in. The food here is the best of India, the servants unobtrusive but caring. The tailor in the shop makes excellent clothes in a night. One of the best places we have found.Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "Family friendly, excellent safari and food"
"We stayed in the camp for two nights with our five year old son. They entertained him and the staff was very child friendly. They were professional in showing us the best of the wildlife. The native food was delicious, eating outside under the stars was fantastic. They are a professional team in wildlife and we felt safe travelling with them. It was a excellent experience and we could highly recommend it as family adventure. Our son still talks about this experience. As we also stayed two nights in Wilpattu he has difficulties to decide if Yala or Wilpattu was the best but would love to go back to both. (So do we)"Dewakan: "Great experience!"
"Just checked their website and they seemed to have changed their menu! Seems like what I had was a mixture of their old menu and the new one. Snacks (Choy Sum Nori, Beef Tendons, Mango Curry, Yoghurt and Roselle): Choy Sum Nori was quite cool and memorable! The others were ... interesting? Could be too weird for some. Starters (Blue Mackerel, Roast Mushrooms, Grilled Vegetables, Home Made Noodles): Quite liked the roast mushrooms. Was told to eat from right to left, but perhaps plating it from left to right would be make more sense since most people hold their forks on the left and knives on the right? Just a suggestion! The noodles weren't that great, however. Mains (Pike Conger, Duck, Quail): The highlight of the night! I really loved each of the 3 main dishes, but sadly two of them don't seem to be on the new menu anymore. Probably one of the most memorable dishes I've had. Desserts (Mulberries, Gula Melaka, Chocolate Tart, Popsicles): The 3 desserts from the menu were great. At the end they gave us 3 additional popsicles even though we were absolutely stuffed by then. Really didn't like the weird popsicle flavours, but to each their own perhaps? Can't imagine it would be popular since none of us liked the popsicles. Service was great, however some were a little too soft-spoken when it came to explaining the dishes. Not sure if having descriptions left on the table would be too tacky but I would love to have something to refer to while eating."Villa Song Saigon: "Villa Song is fantastic"
"We, parents with kids (10 and 13) had two few day stays in Villa Song during our trip through Vietnam and it has been absolute bliss! The rooms are great and the staff is super friendly and helpful! The pool is big and, important in hot Vietnam, refreshing, and the fitness studio is well equipped with top quality Technogym machines. Then the food - breakfast available around the clock and everything you want, and more, is freshly made for you. The chef from Luxembourg is not only top-notch, he's also an interested and very friendly person. We can only give Villa Song a full 5* rating!"SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "My favorite Restaurant in Yangon"
What a fantastic place! The location on the lake is just amazing. Great food and very good service. My favorite Restaurant in Yangon!MATHIS RETREAT: "Quiet place in the rice fields"
"Beautiful hotel, very peacefull place. All staff are very kind. Special thanks to the manager Karine who is absolutely dedicated to her guests. Few minutes talk will make her understand exactly what you expect from your trip, and so she will advise you the best excursions and things to do. "Reverie Siam: "Don’t even think of NOT staying here"
"Over the last twenty eight years of visiting Thailand, and the last sixteen months of living here, I have stayed in a lot of hotels, from the basic to the luxurious. This however is up there with the very best on absolutely every level. It is incredible value for money. The style is like a Tuscan/ Provencal country house- all winding paths and beautiful planting, leading down to the river. Two pools nestle in the property- one a more conventional lap pool and the other designed to resemble a higgledy -piggledy river- which some rooms have direct access to. The rooms are of an incredible luxury for the price: the most comfortable beds ever, luxurious free standing baths and powerful rain showers, all topped off with local organic products. The rooms are spacious and offer outside areas [ours a mountain view offered great views from the upstairs balcony. The staff were incredible and all took a real pride in the place, were helpful and friendly and the grounds staff made sure it was absolutely spotless. Breakfast on the terrace of the restaurant were very good, with a menu of a la carte options, as opposed to a wasteful buffet, and the food we had for lunch and dinner was of an equally high standard. There was a very reasonable and varied drinks list and a daily cocktail hour, which all added up to our stay being a highly affordable [whilst feeling hugely decadent] treat. If we ever come this way again there will be absolutely no doubt in my mind where to stay. Bloomin' fabulous!"The Cabochon Hotel: "Great central Bangkok hotel"
Small and secluded, this boutique hotel was a lucky find. Situated in a lovely area of Bangkok, the hotel has beautifully decorated rooms and a fantastic rooftop pool (see photos) Staff go out of their way to assist. Reasonably priced.Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "A bucket list adventure"
My husband and I stayed at Noel Rodrigo's Yala camp for 2 nights with our 2 daughter's aged 5 and 8. We all had a fabulous time! It really was a highlight of our travels around Sri Lanka. The camp site has a modern design, the tents make the experience more like "glamping" but without loosing the rustic and basic appeal. All of the staff were very knowledgable, accomodating and friendly. Our daughter's could freely explore, run and play freely in the Sri Lankan outdoors while my husband and I could read, relax and enjoy a a drink after our exciting Safari expeditions. The chef on our camp was amazing. The food we ate on the camp was colourful, fresh and so delicious. We were lucky enough to experience an abundance of wild life on our safari's including a lengthy leopard sighing. It was truly fantastic! I cannot recommend this experience, the staff and the quality of Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safaris high enough.
