Drop whatever you're doing, fly to Kuala Lumpur and eat at Dewakan immediately! I had a truly amazing and unforgettable meal there. The entire team that works there are perfection. "Had the 7 Course tasting menu and it was incredible. The atmosphere and service was friendly and attentive. Even before the first course came in we were served seven or eight amuse bouche, all gorgeous in look and taste. We had the drink pairing wich is a stroke of genius when you compare to the traditional wine pairing. The whole menu was exciting from start to finish and I dare say it was amongst the best dining excperiences I've ever had. We spent six nights here in December 2015 and loved this place. It's not super luxurious (no aircon (not needed, great sea breeze!), no fridge in room, no wifi in room (but in reception and restaurant)), but very comfortable, and above all, just very relaxing. Our room ("baan") was right on the beach. It was great sitting our our open first floor porch reading and just watching the ocean. The 12km long beach was mostly deserted and simply stunning. The restaurant had a very relaxed and familiar atmosphere, beautifully designed with super friendly and efficient staff, dogs and cats lazily hanging out. The food is great, freshly prepared from local ingredients (locally made coconut icecream is wow!) that are freshly delivered from local producers every day. The various tours on offer are very much recommended, we loved the market visit, trying out local street food delicacies, and the island tour, exploring its unique ecosystem. "Very nice small hotel (10 rooms) next to a tributary of the Mekong and hot springs pool and water (enough) hot for locals and hotel guests, 2 small private pools of hot water, 1 beautiful pool with private access to a river island with bars, etc. etc.! Do not miss the excursions in 4x4 in the beautiful mountain wilderness hosting different ethnic groups organized by the hotel with local English speaking guide! "This may be the nicest hotel we have ever visited, and we have stayed at many special places around the world. The property is beautifully sited on the riverbank and the rooms are spectacular! Our room had a separate sitting area with an amazing bathroom and balcony overlooking the river. The staff was extremely helpful. We dined at the restaurant which was also amazing. "Stayed here two days for business to avoid the usual ""Hilton, Hyatt ,,,"" routine and didnt regret that. The position to the river is unique altough if you are heading for the city centre you have to face either a boat trip or a longer taxi lift. Rooms are modern, sleeping quality very good. The restaurant cant decide what is the focus on (they call it fusion). Breakfast only week point I can name (e.g. if you order ""bread basket"" you would expect butter, jam etc coming along with this, but here it means only bread so you have to ask for every item). Staff beautiful trained."
