Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Characterful boutique hotel"
"When staying in Georgetown you are probably wanting to be immersed in the colonial character of the place, so staying in a beautiful restored mansion with a fascinating history is a logical and excellent choice - one that we did not regret in the slightest. Nor was it particularly expensive compared with other hotel options We enjoyed learning the history by joining the guided tour (free for guests) and were able to admire the décor and feel of the place both at breakfast time and in the lounging area outside the rooms. Our room was in some ways relatively basic but perfectly adequate and again had character. The service was friendly and helpful. The hotel location is good - on the edge of the heritage area and near to an excellent food court dining and entertainment complex. Breakfast selection also good with small buffet and also a la carte choices including some unusual ones such as green tea pancakes. No juices on the buffet but they brought us some freshly squeezed on request. No hesitation to recommend."MesaStila: "Heaven on Earth"
This place is really something special. Spotlessly clean throughout, delicious free breakfast and afternoon tea every day, an extensive dinner menu full of tasty local Javanese dishes, enormous villa with a daybed on the veranda to while away the hours being immersed in the spectacular mountain scenery, a heavenly on-site hammam and spa. I could go on and on! But by far the best aspect of our stay was the staff who went above and beyond the usual service of any resort staff we've ever met, even going so far as to provide a complimentary Tiramisu after one dinner because I'd mentioned it was my favourite the day before! Being so close to the natural and cultural environment of Java complete with omnipresent birdcall and intermittent calls to prayer from the surrounding mosques was nothing short of magical. As was our private trip to Borobudur at dusk (the one time we could drag ourselves out of the resort) which was organised promptly with no fuss. Whilst there are many free activities provided such as a tour of the coffee plantation, yoga etc., relaxation took hold so thoroughly that we didn't join any of them...maybe next time. And since the 7 nights we spent at Mesa Stila was a pleasure from start to finish, there will definitely be a next time.Misool Eco Resort: "Paradise"
"Was my first time diving and I do t think I could have chosen a better world location. The trip was worth the length to go to a location where you can switch off from the world. If you want relaxation or adventure it has it all! Just happens to be in one of the most amazing locations in the world. GET THERE!"CABOCHON: "Lovely small hotel"
"Old colonial style boutique hotel with friendly staff. Quiet location on side street. Lovely rooms with interesting furniture and artefacts. Small pool on roof. Lovely smell of burning candles throughout. Cute little restaurant if you don't feel like walking out. Good Thai food plus western options available. Breakfast was good too. Good wifi connection. "Rice & Zen Boutique Resort: "Chill & Relax There is a Must"
"My 2nd time and still loving it. Very friendly and helpfull team working in a cosy and elegant atmosphere. Nice & confortable pool villa. Just what u need to escape few days and be far from the crowds. Stop by u would not be disapointed! Caro"Satri House: "Beautiful, atmospheric gem"
"Love it. Love the library and cognac, love the decor, the food, the beds, the rooms, the cute spa, did I mention the decor (?) and the staff. It feels like you're visiting a (royal) friend and pottering around his (grand) house and just popping out to sample the languid charms of luang prabang when the mood strikes. I would come back just for the weekend for a rest and wander. Beautiful"Rice & Zen Boutique Resort: "A gem of a hotel"
Beautiful quiet resort not far from the liveliness of Chaweng. A very personal service from the best staff ever, who used our first names. Great breakfast & fabulous food, especially the set menu on Weds.Mie Cafe: "Good food and service"
We had a nice dinner, fhere is a good variety of interesting dishes on the menue. The frozen cheesecake was very nice.Mathis Retreat: "Excellent Rice Paddy Retreat – With the Family"
"We were looking for a secluded spot near Ubud, but not in the heart of the action and that was good for families. We have two small children (infant and 2 year old). The Matthis retreat was perfect for us. It was a quick taxi ride to downtown Ubud OR a long walk. The rooms were excellent for 3 adults and two young children. Pool was nice a cool and deep! My daughter loved to walk out along the rice paddy's and look at the ducks! Room Tip: Our room did not have a view, but there was a section that did."Mie Cafe: "Excellent fashionable fusion cuisine"
Great food with creative and exciting dishes sophisticatedly presented. Perfect if you are fed up with 100% authentic Cambobian food and want to spice it up a bit. Not the best value for money in our opinion but an excellent dining experience.
