Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "A Unique Experience"
"We chose this ""add on"" to our small group Saga tour of India and Nepal. It turned out to be the best possible decision. It is difficult to write about without overdoing the superlatives. So I will attempt to reign myself in. In a way it was the very best kind of late fifties/early sixties time warp. Style, grace and comfort, fine dining without the affectation that can spoil simple first class food. As much as possible was home grown and home made. The jams and marmalades just delicious on freshly baked bread. Nothing was wasted, it was an excellent lesson in green, sustainable tourism. Days ended with sundowners in front of a roaring fire. The chef was also kind enough to show me how to prepare one of the very tasty appetisers we enjoyed with our drinks. As we happened to be the only guests for dinner on our last evening we were treated to a table set in the small dining area in front of a log fire. We had five courses all freshly cooked and prepared right down to the final tiny crispy granola bars with coffee. We did enjoy a short walk to meet some of the locals and a great bird watching lesson from Harri.. I intend to start a new hobby now! There was plenty to do but nothing was forced on us. We were really tired after a strenuous tour and mainly wanted to enjoy the peace reading outside in sunshine, and have wonderful food....with choice between continental or local,,,, then tuck up in an enormous bed with hot water bottles at the end of each perfect day. We had three such days and were very sad to leave. Thank you Marcus and please thank your amazing staff."Villa Song Saigon: "Absolutely charming hotel"
"A haven at the edge of the Saigon River. A beautiful, peaceful spot to chill out after a hot session of sightseeing. Chef Kevin, always eager to please with innovative Western based menus liberally sprinkled with South East Asian herbs and spices, great. Restaurant and hotel staff greeting us with their gentleness and smiling faces all the time. I can only highly recommend Villa Song "Slow Villas and Spa: "Just perfect"
"On our 3 weeks roundtrip through Bali and Lombok my girlfriend and me have stayed 3 nights at Slow Private Pool Villas and it was supposed to be the highlight of our trip. To shorten the story: The Slow was even better than expected! Our private villa was surrounded by a huge and nicely planted garden. The pool was just awesome - perfectly clean and bigger than expected. Furniture, tapware and decoration were beautiful and definitely chosen with a huge amount of passion for the details. The staff was always friendly and helpful - no matter if we wanted to go diving, book a snorkeling trip or had some other questions: there's nothing they can't help you with in order to have the perfect time at Gili Air. The breakfast is definitely another highlight. It's getting served at your Villa at your preferred time and tastes delicious! We can't wait to come back next year! But then for longer than 3 nights. :)"Tugu Malang: "More than excellent!"
"My husband and I had the pleasure of staying 3 nights at the amazing Tugu hotel in Malang. What a wonderful time we had! The goodness started immediately at check-in: we were upgraded to a suite and received a welcome massage. Such a wonderful room with a very comfortable (and a bit squeaky) bed. Large bathroom with bath and great amenities, 2 sitting areas and coffee, tea, water and fresh fruit in the room. Lovely pool, with comfortable lounge chairs. Lots of arts and antiques throughout the entire hotel, including our room. Wonderful spa with great massage. Everyday tea time with delicious snacks, we will miss this at home! We did not take the breakfast but went to to the hotel's bakery instead, where they sell delicious sandwiches. We booked a Bromo tour at the hotel and this was a great experience as well. Experienced driver, nice guide and a packed breakfast. Nothing but good things about this hotel, I would recommend it to everyone! Above all I think it's the lovely staff who creates exactly the right atmosphere: it's a luxury hotel but with a very personal and relaxed touch. If we ever go back to Malang we will definitely stay here again."Villa Song Saigon: "Sanctuary by the Saigon River"
"This is an outstanding hotel. Beautifully refurbished former French colonial mansion with about 25 rooms. We stayed in a Sanctuary room on the top floor. High quality dining at tables beside the Saigon river. Rooms are beautifully decorated with every facility. Loved the TV that rotated 360. The hotel's own speedboat runs a shuttle service to the city centre. Staff excellent. Attention to detail (eg anti mossy spray on dining tables) My wife had a birthday while we were there. Bouquet of flowers and special cake unsolicited. "Tugu Malang: "Gorgeous Hotel"
"Tugu Malang is such an amazing hotel. My husband & I are frequently in Malang & even if we dont stay in the hotel we always visit for coffee or a meal & the wonderful ambience. This weekend we decided to stay & once again we were not disappointed. From the polite friendly & efficient staff to the amazing decore this boutique hotel captures the feeling of the long forgotten & proud heritage of the Javanese & Chinese Indonesian culture. For anyone who likes a unique boutique experience this hotel is for you. You definitely wont be disappointed. A short becak ride & you'll find yourself at the local bird & fish markets."Tugu Malang: "An incredible night in a lively museum"
"The TUGU Malang is a unique place on earth, being both a magnificent museum and an ultra-comfortable hotel with a pool. You will be flabbergasted by the magnificence of the place: antiques, artefacts, wooden doors, Bali temples...all inside the hotel. Take to your time to wander and step back in time. The food is delicious and the breakfast amazingly rich of flavours. The location is very central, the service is of high-standard. The only weaknesses of the place would be some rooms facing a wall (but the hotel kindly moved us to a pool view), and the busy and noisy traffic circle outside (ask for a room not facing the traffic circle)."Satri House: "elegant and family friendly"
we stayed as 2 parents, 2 children and a grandparent. We were conveniently given 2 adjoining rooms, both gorgeous and spacious. Satri house is larger than expected and very pretty, I kept getting lost on the way to breakfast! The 2 swimming pools were fantastic and refreshing. The staff were all very friendly, even when we were struggling to communicate! Julie and Gianni are very helpful and kind. My husband loved their Lao whiskey! One morning we got up at 4.30am to see the morning alms. However we found there were monks just in front of the hotel which was very beautiful to see. Our kids treasure the little Hill tribe dolls they were each given as we sadly departed. Although it is not right in the heart of Luang Prabang, it was an easy walk and easier tuk tuk away. Highly recommended! The Cabochon Hotel: "What a gem"
Perfect boutique hotel. An oasis in the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. Newly built in an old style but you would never guess - very comfortable and well furnished. Good swimming pool on the roof. Very nice staff.Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "A superb, ecologically responsible, luxury holiday close to nature"
"A wonderful location immediately adjacent to the park, you cannot camp inside, An oasis of tranquility, superb hospitality and eco-responsibility that sets it apart from other safari operations serving Yala National Park. Delivers true luxury, superb food while maintaining a very low impact. Thoughtful, highly knowledgeable guides and drivers, that clearly love and respect the wildlife and habitats. The camp is spacious, well laid out, and has a charming 'homely' feel, as a guest you feel like a member of an extended family. The three meals a day are fresh, local, wonderfully presented Sr Lankan cuisine, with spicing tempered to the guest preferred palate. Noel (the owner), Praneeth (my guide and companion) and Priyantha (driver/ waiter/ and magically at hand, smiling at every turn) were all superb. Great for anyone with a interest in wildlife, not just leopard spotting, who wants to experience and be close to nature in a sustainable manner. An immense knowledge of the park and its environs, working in partnership with the park staff: a member of the park service and/or wildlife department joined our vehicle and assisted with spotting and interpretation of likely animal locations given prevailing conditions. Specialist, 4WD land cruisers, fitted 6/7 guest open-sided viewing platforms. In truck refreshments, guide books, binoculars and viewing aids, everything you could need to hand. Responsibly driven inside and outside of the park, unlike many others that clearly were not. I cannot wait to return again. Thank you guys."
