MRAUK U PRINCESS RESORT: "one of the best hotels in Myanmar"
"It is a bit tricky to get to the hotel but I really advise you to go by boat instead of the land route from Sittwe . You will disembark just in front of the hotel. The hotel has only bungalows . Nice garden with green lawns and ponds with flowers. The bunglow has huge bedroom and nice bathroom. The kitchen has excellent food. The service is fantastic and very helpful. I can really recommend this place in order to investigate all the pagodas around it. "Rachamankha: "Absolutely stunning"
"This is a relatively new hotel built in traditional Thai style. It is beautiful - everything about it is beautiful, the architecture, the furniture, the fittings, the ornaments, the swimming pool. Best of all is its location - easily accessible to the main temples in Chiang Mai and within walking distance of the main shopping streets. A small hotel , with friendly staff and comfortable beds. try it - I am sure you cannot fail to be impressed!"Villa Song Saigon: "Great location"
Extremely well run hotel, the staff are outstanding. The riverside location is peaceful and stunning. Shuttle or boat to town if you want the bustle. Restaurant is good, but could do with less European dishes and more Vietnamese dishes. Breakfast is excellent, have the Pho.Muang La Lodge: "What a wonderful oasis"
"Visited very briefly during an extended planned trip and had to be dragged away otherwise we would have quite happily stayed for a lot longer!! Staff couldn't have been more attentive or friendly and every little detail had been thought through thoroughly to make you feel special. Thoroughly recommended"SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Contemplative lunch"
What a relief. This restaurant is a real "island" of tranquillity next to the lake. Soft music. Whispering waiters. Prompt service and a smile.4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Magical"
An amazing place and well worth the travel to get there. Beautiful location, very comfortable and excellent food. We stayed 3 nights. It was lovely swimming in the river, although beware of the changing current. We walked in the forest and canoed around the island opposite.
"Nestled in a beautiful forested valley, surrounded by tea gardens and overlooking the river Rung Dung this is and idyllic location with views of Darjeeling, Sikkim and the Himalayas. Accommodation in large suites within tea plantation managers bungalow - all wonderfully decorated and furnished in mid 20th century style and with spectacular views. Meals (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner) are all included. A rotating menu of different cuisines (including traditional Raj period meals, Bengali, Nepalese, Bhutanese and international, etc. are served. All offering multiple course, veg and non-veg options and all cooked to perfection offering exquisite tastes - some of the best food I've tasted anywhere. Plenty to do too - the tours of the tea gardens and factory (including tasting if the various teas the estate produces) taken by the manager or one of his assistants - teaches even the most experienced tea connoisseur everything they could ever wish to know about the propagation of tea, it's harvesting and transformation (different techniques) to produce white teas, first/second flush, monsoon, autumn, oolong and green teas; as well as the history of tea growing and the estate. There's also a wonderful lodge/camp on the river (about a 2 hour walk from the main bungalow); trips to Ghum, Darjeeling and Kalimpong. The entry/exit roads are rough as you drop into the valley from the main road - and it's about 2 1/2 - 3 hours transfer from the nearest airport or station - but well worth it Stayed January 2017, traveled as a couple"Rahai’i Pangun: "River cruise – Indonesia’s must see Orangutans"
My husband and I went on a 2 night / 3 day day river cruise and the river cruise was one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide Jeni was fantastic and the crew could not do enough to make our trip comfortable and memorable. The Orangutans in their natural environment were a delight to watch and what magnificent creatures they are. Such a shame what the ever expanding human population is doing to these magnificent great apes....but there seems to be hope for them which is heart warming and Wow Borneo is definitely the company to book this once in a lifetime adventure with. The boat is very comfortable, except for the cold shower brrr... and the food scrumptious.Bassac Mekong Delta Cruises by Secret Retreats: "Brilliant way to see Mekong River"
We only had a limited time in Vietnam so decided that a trip on the Basic 111 would be a good idea, and we were not disappointed. The cabin was small but had a very comfortable bed. There was airl con, small bathroom with shower and toilet. There are lots of photos taken by other tourists. Our english speaking guide was Annie. Wonderful lady who was on hand to offer advice and explain about all we saw. Only three cabins were occupied, us, one Belgian couple and an Irish couple, which made for very pleasant company. we had a superb lunch followed by dinner in the evening. We couldn't finish the supper as we are used to only having one large meal a day. Up at dawn the next day, just in time to catch the sunrise over the river. Worth getting up that early. Breakfast had warm freshly baked bread along with eggs marmalade etc.We also had a visit to Annie's home village where she explained about life there. Later on we visited a floating market, again worth seeing as our guide explained that with improved roads and bridges it most probably won't exist in 4 or 5 years. The trip on the Bassac came to an end with a visit to a market on land. I wish I had taken pictures in the first bit, a covered fish market but I was too busy trying not to step on people or fish! Recommended.
