Tugu Lombok: "Beautiful, relaxing resort"

Review by: Jim R | Source: Trip Advisor
"My wife and I spent three days in an oceanfront villa at the beginning of our vacation here. Hotel Tugu is a beautiful, beachside hotel in north Lombok. It is off the main room and a bit distant from the nearest town or village, so it is a bit isolated. But this is not a problem- the hotel grounds are huge, and stuffed with balinese and Indonesian art. Indeed, it is a truly beautiful hotel, one of the most beautiful I've stayed in, and the beach is absolutely perfect- a huge expanse of sand great for swimming and snorkeling. There are a two restaurants and bars serving a variety of Indonesian and western dishes. The food is excellent, though the drinks are a bit overpriced and weak (but still very tasty!). The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, though I would say that at time I thought they were a bit over the top- there can be too much service. We also had a bit of difficulty booking activities- sometimes it was hard to get someone in the main office who could help us. The rooms, like the property, were beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and clean. I would say that parts of them could have been more functional- the lighting was pretty dim, the bathroom tub didn't work very well, and other small things. But these are minor issues- we really enjoyed our stay. Overall, Hotel Tugu is an excellent hotel and well worth a visit for a more Indonesian experience than offered by other local hotels. If you are looking for the efficiency of a European-standard luxury resort, I might try one of the other nearby resorts, but then you will miss staying in a beautiful and unique property."

Neeleshwar Hermitage: "A resort well deserving a mention on trip advisor"

Review by: James N | Source: Trip Advisor
"Excellent staff lead by a very competent manager who made an effort to speak to guests at breakfast. It gave an opportunity to voice any outstanding issues in person( not that there was any ) Fine breakfast esp Indian food. Appam (indian pancake ) was made on request. Rooms were very clean well looked after . Every evening the room was turned over , mosquito coils set up and water and a bottle of local drink provided. The ambience was of a rural setting with soft lighting to guide us at night to our cottages. Tastefully decorated to a high standard. The landscaping was very appealing. Fine clean clear blue open air swimming pool that was just right for cooling off and swimming. The waiter service was infallible . Very polite English speaking staff made it all the more delightful. Very good avurvedic treatment with in house doctor for advise. In house tailor who can complete a shirt in lass than 24 hrs. Security was good day and night as I found out when walking alone by the beach. Crows are regular visitors at breakfast time and by the swimming pool. But well kept out the guests tables by a very astute guard who used a special technique to scare them away without any harm . The sandy beach is very hot to sun bathe . The sea water is a little unclear but warm and safe to swim. Sometimes the waves can be bigger than usual and hotel uses coloured flags to inform the safety condition of sea to guests. A few go to swim as most stay by the pool. This is a hotel worth a visit . Recommend at least a week for peace and sanity ! Room Tip: Facing the sea single cottage"

Samanea Beach Resort: "Absolutely Perfect"

Review by: JodieS186 | Source: Trip Advisor
"Wonderful hotel, we extended our stay from 2-4 nights. The grounds are beautiful, large swimming pool and set on the ocean accessible by private jetty. The rooms (or suites) were spacious, exceptionally clean, with gorgeous and comfortable 4 poster beds with mosquito nets. The barroom is again spacious, the big surprise was the large adjoining outdoor area with open shower and oversized round rock bathtub. The rooms had adjoining outdoor areas with comfortable chairs and table were you can relax or dine also included a hammock. The staff were wonderful, would bring our meals and drinks to the beachside cabanas or while we were swimming in the pool. Food at the restaurant was good quality and they made excellent coffees. My only suggestion would be some stand up paddle boards or kayaks as the water was so calm it would be perfect. Whilst at the higher end of the hotel market in Kep, price was very reasonable. A place suitable for all travellers, families, couples and friends also solo if your looking for some serenity."

Locavore: "The best restaurant in Indonesia"

Review by: oseric | Source: Trip Advisor
After 7 years living in Indonesia I would say that this is probably the world's best restaurant of Indonesian cuisine and Indonesia's best restaurant. Aspirational, creative, sophisticated, surprising ... and truly local. This is not a copy of something else.

Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Excellent experience"

Overall it's a very wonderful experience. The vintage look, traditional music playing in the room, Nyonya snacks, breakfast and the service deserve good reputation. I will definitely visit it again in my next tri to Penang.

The Cabochon Hotel and Residence: "Very nice place, beautiful salons, friendly staff"

Very nice place, beautiful salons, friendly staff. Only 10-15 minutes walk from the BTS (Bangkok Sky Train), but still very quiet as it is located in a small dead end street, away from traffic. -------

The Governor’s House: "Perfect Bolthole"

Review by: jenandchris2015 | Source: tripadvisor.com
"Beautiful colonial boutique hotel. Smiling charming staff, eager to please. Lovely small intimate dining room with excellent food. Would definitely recommend having dinner here. Our trip was for our 40th wedding anniversary, and 'Happy 40th wedding anniversary' was spelt out in flower petals across our bed...a great touch! Bedroom was charming, and bathroom was clean, stylish and well presented. It's easy to hire a ride into city centre and water front to see the sights. A perfect hideaway hotel, good value and highly recommended."

Rachamankha: "Haven of tranquility…"

We stayed here for 5 nights in July 2015, and can honestly say what a magical place it is. It’s in a brilliant location within the old town, and yet is so peaceful and tranquil. The layout of the hotel feels beautifully designed and considered. The service and staff and are very professional, helpful and friendly, in particularly Paul the manager. If you have chance to stay here then do - it really is unique and we couldn’t recommend it more!

Villa Song Saigon: "A wonderful boutique hotel"

Review by: millywils0n | Source: Trip Advisor
"Villa Song was the first stop on our recent SE Asian odyssey and it did not disappoint! We arrived after the best part of a day's travelling so were quite tired and ready to relax and chill. The reception staff were great and got us booked in very quickly (lovely watermelon juice as well) and off we went to our room. Beautiful view over the terrace, restaurant and Saigon River, the balcony was fairly small but there was room for 2 chairs and a table so that's really all that's needed. There was plenty of storage, a very nice bathroom including many extra accessories such as a sewing kit, cotton buds, wipes etc and the queen sized beds were extremely comfortable. We repaired to the beautiful poolside where we were able to recharge our batteries and partake of the gorgeous cocktails (Happy hour was 5 - 7 pm with 2 for 1 on cocktails and various other drinks). The breakfasts were awesome! Fruit platter to start and the menu had 15+ items on it from English breakfasts to Continental to Pancakes to Vietnamese specialities - you could have as many dishes as you wanted, plus you didn't actually have to have it at breakfast time (although we did). Being in district 2, Villa Song is a little way off the beaten track, however there was a complimentary river shuttle from the hotel to downtown which ran several times a day and which we utilised on our free day so that we could spend the entire day downtown - I recommend taking the shuttle, much more interesting than a taxi. Lastly I must give a huge shout out to the staff at Villa Song - nothing too much trouble, always smiling, checking we had enough coffee/tea/beer/cocktails/juice...I think with the hotel only having 20 or so rooms it has a real family feel to it. I would highly recommend Villa Song to anyone Stayed February 2017, traveled with friends"
