Tugu Bali: "Great service great location"
"The hotel is beautiful. The breakfast was superb. The spa had so many choices. Jenny the manager went out of her way and doubled as a concierge. I would highly recommend this Resort good food good character and good people what more could you want"Reverie Siam: "Loved it and will definitely come back"
"This hotel came strongly recommended by a friend and I wasn't disappointed. Though it's not far from the relatively busy center of Pai (the resort provides a free shuttle service), the Reverie Siam feels like a different world. It's perfectly peaceful, with nothing but mountains and green fields as far as the eye can see. There's a lovely colonial aesthetic to the place and an attention to detail that I really enjoyed (books left open to specific passages in rooms, benches engraved with quotes). The staff honestly couldn't have been more thoughtful. From arranging a dinner reservation and dropping me at the restaurant to purchasing bus tickets and making sure I got a good seat for my return journey, they definitely went the extra mile to make my time more enjoyable. The breakfast, which comes with options like cappuccino French toast with caramelized mango, is also a big plus. I'm looking forward to coming back here. It's the perfect spot to curl up for a weekend and I'd happily recommend it to anyone."Reverie Siam: "Happy return to this oasis in the northern hills"
This is my second visit to the Reverie Siam, and I loved it just as much. Delightfully, this time I felt no obligation to go and do any tours, and so I lazed my days away at the hotel, which it is certainly designed to support. There are two pools, a traditional rectangular one and a more family friendly organic shaped one, which some of the rooms can step straight out into. The buildings and grounds are all charming, a successful mix of Mediterranean planting and colonial "Indochine" architectural style. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and elegant. And the riverside pavilion is unbelievably peaceful (and barely used!). The breakfasts are included in the room price, and very generous (I learnt from last time not to have all the courses offered!) The bar itself is pretty well stocked, has a surprisingly good selection of spirits and wine. And the food is Mediterranean inspired (which I have to confess would be my one wish: if they also had some delicious Thai options on the menu, to me it would be perfect!). They offer free shuttles into town, but if only takes 15 minutes to walk in. The quiet little hamlet the hotel is attached to, just outside Pai, seems to be developing as a more independent hub - there are a few decent cafes, though bafflingly they all shut firmly by 6pm. (Why?!) However, there are worrying signs of development all around, and a large new ugly market building, hope they're not going to build too much round here. Note: once in the hotel, you can't see or hear any of this, it's all at a slight remove. Overall I loved my trip, you won't regret booking here. Want to give a shout out to Tida Massage on one of Pak's main streets (a few doors down from Charlie & Lek restaurant), it's not listed on TripAdvisor and I can't add it. Run by two lovely ladies (and their cheeky cat), really great massage - and I have easy access to good/cheap massage living in China, so am not easily won over. I happened to try them out on my first day, and went back every day, sometimes twice. It's a very simple place, not fancy spa. But Miss Oi (excuse spelling) is a magician and has an infectious laugh. One hour/200baht, a bargain!Reverie Siam Pai: "A distinguished retreat amongst the charm of Pai"
"An excellently laid out design and interior, which evokes an aristocratic air of elegance. A few friends and I came here mid afternoon after a little sightseeing and were treated with great care and attention by the staff. After feasting over a few shared Chef and Mediterranean Vegetable boards, we all left in the highest of spirits."Mie Cafe: "Very good food"
I just come Back from this lovely, precious ,romantic restaurant in siem reap. Shame I was dining alone as I am a solo traveler. I would recommend for a lovely romantic dinner ! Definitely a honey moon destination if you are visiting Angkor wat and stay in siem reap!!! The food was extremely tasty and well presented. I even had the chef coming at my table asking how it is going!!! I highly recommend it!!JING’S RESIDENCE: "Live like a weathly merchant in Ancient China! The Real Experience!"
"I was a wealthy merchant 500 years ago...my home was full of carved wood and art and lavish fabrics..I had a staff eager to please my every need..I sat in my warm lush living room looking at the last bits of the sun as it set over my ornate terra cotta roof... This is a review of Mr Jings Residence..where you get to pretend to live in another time and place... Pingyao is an ancient walled city cut off from car traffic that looks and operates as it has for a thousand years. If you want to experience historical China this is the place to visit! It's crowded with Chinese tourists in spring and summer but still a must see. In a day you can do a quick tour and see the many restored museums, temples and explore the nooks and and secret walkways that make up this city. (...)The courtyards and sitting spaces laced into the ancient buildings..all your own private sanctuary in warmer weather... The restaurant chef and Jing's Restaurant staff were excellent. Unlike a lot of problems with service in China, the folks at Jing's were helpful, friendly and eager to please. A diverse menu of Thai, Chinese and western food was great. Their spring rolls were light, crispy and perfect!!! My Thai peanut chicken was sooo good! I wondered how the chef could source food in the dead of winter..but amazingly he did!My husband had pork that was fresh and savory. The folks at Jing's were always there to help..they even packed us a picnic of banana chocolate bread for our train ride to Beijing. This place is ancient, quiet and yet modern and luxurious. A must do for any visit to China! Bluntly, I would put Pingyao on any travel plan just to stay at Jing's Residence...It was that good!"Locavore: "AMA…wait for it…ZING"
"I have reached 50 years old and I can honestly say that this was the best meal I’ve had in my life full of travel and restaurants all over the world. I walked in on my way back from the Monkey Forest, hot and tired, just intending to grab a quick bite and drink. I’m not sure why but I was offered the tasting menu - I said yes, unaware of the price but ready for an adventure. I ordered 5 courses between the regular and vegetarian choices. To my surprise, 7 beautifully presented amuse bouche courses came first - each exciting and delicious. Then a new chef came out with each course to explain it to me. Exceptional service! And the tastes made my mouth soooo happy. To my surprise there were 2 more amuse bouche dishes before dessert arrived. After almost 2 hours, I thought it would never end and I wanted it to never end!!! The last surprise was an entire flight of chocolates and jasmine tea. All of the food was meticulously prepared and incredibly delicious. Lunch cost about $90 CND, which is the priciest lunch I’ve ever had but WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOCAVORE Make a reservation!!!"Hotel Tugu Bali: "Highly commend"
"So impressed with our stay in Tugu Bali. The villa was a delight to be staying in with all its Balinese history in its decor and surroundings. First class in interior layout and cleaning services. The staff were friendly and so attentive including to the demands of an exploring toddler. Our meals were delicious and choices seemed unlimited. Japanese restaurant menu def worth exploring. The Gardens and waterways were a delight to wander around. Would highly recommend for a relaxing stay, where the mixture of calming ambience and historical treasures added to such an enjoyable atmosphere. Only minutes walk from beaches. Many thanks for memorable stay that is highly recommended to all ages."Villa Song Saigon: "An Amazing Boutique Hotel"
"What an unforgettable stay we had in Villa Song ! The restored colonial villa near the river is stunning. Decorated with nice antique furniture combined with modern art. We were happy to stay for 4 nights in the Sanctuary Suite consisting of a cosy sittingroom, a large bedroom, a luxury bathroom and last but not least a large comfortable balcony overlooking the river. We spend lots of moments with a tea early morning and with a drink late evening to watch the river and its boats passing by, which gave us a peaceful feeling. The hospitality of the staff is excellent. We had a pleasant chat with the General Manager Mr. Yega and the Chef Cook Mr. Kevin, both with a lot of experience in hotel business. But also the restaurant manager Mr. Freddie, the waiters, the bartender's, the receptionists and the cleaning staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. The speed boat service to town is well organized and a great experience. No need to waste your time with a taxi in the hussle of the traffic. In a 15 minutes enjoyable ride on the river you are in the heart of town. On the moment we stayed in Villa Song, we had the pleasure to choose our diner besides the regular menu, from a special menu created by Chef Cook Kevin and a guest Chef Cook from singapore which came for two weeks for this special event. We had surprising and delicious dishes with a fusion of Asian and Western food and this all in a romantic ambiance near the river. Villa Song is the top of luxury and hospitality… a beautiful place to stay. Thanks a lot to Mister Yega and his team !"Dewakan: "Three Stars or 3 Hats….. in our books"
"""The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply"" - Kahlil Gibran. This perfectly sums up what Darren Teoh and his team at Dewakan are doing. I profess guilty to being surrounded with these wonderful ingredients and yet be clueless as to their potential. Darren is taking these humble ingredients, injecting playful creativity and reintroducing them into the fore where they belong. Here one can expect to have boundaries challenged, pushed and yet moulded into familiarity. In this off the beaten path kitchen, flavours and textures are being routinely forged. Whilst I appreciate that everyone has their own personal opinion of good food, I suggest preconceptions be left at the door. This is my second visit to Dewakan and once again I leave in awe of mother natures bounty in the hands of a true maestro. "
