The luxury and service on Sukoon far exceeded any expectations. The lovely carved wood panelling and the comfort of the ensuite bedroom had the feel of a five star hotel. So glad we had opted to stay for five nights to fully enjoy the peace and tranquility of living on board. We were able to sit on the deck where we took delicious meals and where the excellent chef cooked breakfast to our request. The snow capped mountains in the far background completed the scene. The small shikara boats provided a delightful way to explore the lake and take us ashore to explore Srinagar. I cannot recommend Sukoon highly enough over all other houseboats we got to see there. "When staying in Georgetown you are probably wanting to be immersed in the colonial character of the place, so staying in a beautiful restored mansion with a fascinating history is a logical and excellent choice - one that we did not regret in the slightest. Nor was it particularly expensive compared with other hotel options We enjoyed learning the history by joining the guided tour (free for guests) and were able to admire the décor and feel of the place both at breakfast time and in the lounging area outside the rooms. Our room was in some ways relatively basic but perfectly adequate and again had character. The service was friendly and helpful. The hotel location is good - on the edge of the heritage area and near to an excellent food court dining and entertainment complex. Breakfast selection also good with small buffet and also a la carte choices including some unusual ones such as green tea pancakes. No juices on the buffet but they brought us some freshly squeezed on request. No hesitation to recommend."Mume: "A great evening, great tastes & ambience"
This is arguably one of Asia's finest restaurants … the a la carte menu is a fusion, at times I felt like at home in Sydney, at times it went to Scandinavia … The ambience is minimalist, dress code casual (loved that aspect), staff friendly and informative; the food we ordered (and most of it shared) was excellent, top marks to the wagyu tartare and ribeye. I read some negative reviews below … I am guessing people were expecting a Chinese banquet for the price. This is quite a different experience, its all about tasting the food, the fresh ingredients and the innovative. We certainly did not leave the restaurant hungry, quite the opposite. If you are a couple like us, choose different starters and mains and try as many as possible. My only objection is the wine list … for a restaurant of this calibre, they should entertain more wines … especially from NZ, Australia (they would go well with the food).Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "A haven outside Pokhara"
Have stayed in TIger Mountain Pokhara Lodge a couple of times and it will be returned to. It is situated in a high position on the top of a hill affording the most wonderful views of the Annapurna range. The lodge is a place of calm, has beautifully designed rooms, a pool in a stunning setting where you can swim facing the Himalayas and the food provided is consistently the best I have had in the area. We stayed for 6 nights in a delightful room, located in one of the 3 Khmer houses located in a tropical garden, with lotus pond and a fabulous pool. There were plenty of comfortable lounges and sun beds all with sun canopies to shield us from the strong sun. The pool was a perfect temperature. The food was beautifully presented and the set menus were delicious. The breakfast choice was excellent, and served over looking the garden. Tea and coffee was available all day if the dining area, there was plenty of comfortable seating around the lotus pond and in a covered in area out of the sun if preferred. The crockery used was unique and made by Cambodian Artisans. The staff were very attentive and gave us brilliant hints and advice about tours etc. The drivers we had, were arranged by the hotel and drove very safely and we felt relaxed on our drive to Siem Reap airport. All in all a beautiful place to stay in a very friendly atmosphere highly recommendedManda De Laos: "Make a reservation!"
Rarely will I opt for a set menu, but here it was so worth it. So nice to try all the different offerings. Service was wonderful and wine selection was good. Romantic setting but also appropriate for friends who just want to have a nice relaxed setting.The River Resort: "Charming Riverside Retreat"
We stayed here for two nights after doing some serious trekking and strenuous outdoor activity the previous several days. It was a perfect retreat for rest and relaxation! We took advantage of the spa and massage services, spent time on our balcony enjoying the view of the Mekong river, and ate several very tasty meals in the restaurant. The rooms are spacious and very nice, and the outdoor (hot!) shower was a real treat! I would definitely stay here again.Villa Mathis: "Truly Memorable!"
We stayed a total of 4 nights and proved to be the most romantic and relaxing getaway. The GM Chris and his staff was very warm and attentive to our every needs. We especially enjoyed our romantic dinner under the stars, complete with a Balinese massage and a flower bath. The resort is beautifully laid out and decorated, like a magical oasis. The location from Semanyak was perfect so that you could visit the bustling shopping area and restaurants in less than 30 minutes from the quiet surroundings of the resort. "I had a very enjoyable experience on my two night stay at Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safaris. The accommodations were great and the food was wonderful. The team was very friendly and the guides very knowledgeable. The team takes care of every detail of the stay so I didn't have to worry about anything. After every game drive, the staff was waiting to greet us with fresh cool towels and water. Overall, a wonderful and amazing experience and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for adventure without compromising on comfort."
