Misool: "EXISTE PARAISO NA TERRA"
Paraíso perdido no planeta terra.Mume: "Exquisite"
We arrived for the early sitting on a Monday evening, and were struck again by the understated mood lighting and spare design and furnishing. There was an exciting bustle from the wait staff and chefs and everyone seemed genuinely energized to engineer a great experience for the customers. As expected, the options were exotic, yet approachable and we each chose a perfect fit for our four courses. The food was exquisitely presented, so much so that we were disappointed to disturb each artwork to consume it. The staff took the time to explain each course as it was offered, just enough information to enhance the experience, but not too much: all delivered in perfect English for us. A taste sensation and a very enjoyable ambiance. Thanks, Mume, once again!
Stayed July 2016, traveled as a couple"Neeleshwar Hermitage: "Serenity in India"
"We were privileged to spend 5 nights in the hotel and 2 nights on the Lotus Houseboat during February. Our hotel stay was truly perfect. It is a very relaxing environment and just what was needed after a busy stay in Mumbai. We were in one of the beach facing bungalows, called Virya (strength!). It was spotlessly clean, with a comfortable bed, quiet and efficient air conditioning and an outdoor bathroom. The food was lovely - fresh, colourful, healthy and tasty. Experiencing real Indian food on our trip was quite a revelation, particularly compared to the version we get at home! I also enjoyed the extensive a la carte breakfasts at the beachside restaurant - much nicer than a normal hotel buffet breakfast. The free yoga sessions each morning were enjoyable, and pitched at a beginner's level, so accessible to all. We both had spa sessions every day, leaving it to the on-site doctor to choose and schedule our treatments. I loved the treatment where oil is dripped onto your forehead - it was so incredibly relaxing. The beach is deserted, and great for long walks. The sea was rough while we were there, so not suitable for swimming. The pool area is serene, and the sun beds super comfy. We found the service throughout the hotel to be exemplary. We really couldn't fault it. Just a little thing to be aware of - the hotel does not serve spirits, and there is only a limited selection of wine and beer available with dinner - so do stock up on duty free before you arrive if this is an issue for you. If I were to rate our 2 night stay on the Lotus Houseboat, I would probably give it 4 stars. Overall, it was a unique experience and we are glad that we did it. The service was again, very good, though a little more formal than at the hotel. We had an on board chef, who prepared the most delicious food. Our cabin was spacious and luxurious. Having seen a handful of other houseboats drift past, I would say that the Lotus is one of the nicest on this stretch of the backwaters. Unfortunately, however, we were unlucky during our stay because there was an issue with the generator. As a result at night it was either like a sauna in our cabin, or very noisy. In addition, there were constant loud explosions nearby (from the nearby naval base?) throughout the first night. It proved absolutely impossible to sleep, and not at all the romantic, serene experience it could have been. The write up you are given in advance about the trips onto land should be taken with a pinch of salt. For example you don't visit an ancient sacred snake temple in the middle of a monkey forest - you are no longer allowed near to the temple. The reality is that you wander through some scrub land to the side of the road to feed some monkeys with vegetables. Not a big deal really, but just a case of over promising and under delivering in some areas. In hindsight we would have preferred instead to have spent more time relaxing on the top deck of the boat. If you do decide to overnight on the Lotus, it's probably best to book the boat on an exclusive basis, as we did. Sharing the limited space aboard with a couple of strangers could be a little awkward! Overall we really had a fantastic time, and would love to return one day. It's a perfect spot for some R & R."David’s Kitchen: "A perfect Treat"
"My wife and I were looking for a nice date spot while in Chiang Mai. While we were having a blast eating street food all over Bangkok and Chiang Mai, it was time for a nice change of pace. Somehow we got into David's last minute and had one of the best dinners of our lives. From the moment you enter the driveway to the restaurant the staff was attentive, professional and engaging. Make a Reservation in advance! The food was fantastic and we got to meet David himself. We eat out a lot and have eaten at some of the best restaurants around the globe and David's Kitchen truly stacks up against the best. The 180 day aged beef tenderloin is one of the top 3 steaks we have eaten but everything we had was fantastic! After dinner there is a great little piano bar as part of the restaurant before the main dining room where we had some delicious cocktails and listened to music. David, his wife and their team have created an amazing little place and I would recommend it to anyone! Make a Reservation, I imagine most do not get as lucky as we did with getting in last minute!"Goldhen Budha: "Our happy place"
"We have spent 6 days at Golden Buddha in December 2015 and it has been one of the best Holiday experiences so far. The location is fantastic, the staff and the management are very friendly and the whole atmosphere is very familiar and relaxed. Food, drinks and services (e.g. Thai Massage) are great and our Baan was also stunning. Hopefully we can come back one day."Amata Lanna: "Wonderul, intimate, getaway!"
Gorgeous space. Very well decorated. The rooms are AMAZING, with wonderful furnishings. Very beautiful space that feels like a tropical resort even though you're in the middle of a big city! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful!Neeleshwar Hermitage: "a superb hotel – with great attention to detail and outstanding service"
"We have been to India many times and have been fortunate to stay in many wonderful hotels. But by any comparison, the Neeleshwar Hermitage stands out as among the best for its perfect combination of outstanding service, food, location and attention to detail. Rarely do even the best hotels in the world get all of these right, every day. Our main interest is in seeing and experiencing everyday life in India. For us, one of the attractions of Neeleshwar Hermitage is that there is a lot to see locally and it’s easy, with the help of the hotel, to get about. We found the manager immediately understood what we wanted to do, and was very helpful with the ideas and arrangements to enable us to make the most of our 6 day stay. You don’t have to go anywhere of course, and when it is hot and the skies blue (as it was when we were there) it is tempting to head to the pool and stay there. It is a beautiful pool. It’s also very well situated, overlooking a long, wide sandy beach that is also used a lot by the local villagers. The design and materials throughout contribute a lot to the feeling of a very relaxing, comfortable place to stay. And it is extremely well thought through, to maintain that special ambience. The tables in the main restaurant, for example, are fixed in position, each with their own ceiling fan directly overhead, and there is a lot of space between them. This means you feel like you have a lot of space and privacy, and makes it feel very peaceful. The tables are similarly well placed a good distance apart in the excellent seafood restaurant by the beach. Juices, beers and local wine are all readily available wherever you are but there is no formal bar, either by the pool or in the main lounge area, which again helps to keep things quieter than it can be in some places. Smoking is not allowed anywhere, indoors or out. All of these elements are important, but it’s even better: we found the service, without exception, to be outstanding. Every single person got it exactly right. They also work very well together. It may be an informal beach hotel, but there is great attention to detail. This is not a hotel that is particularly easy to get to. We flew from Mumbai to Mangalore, and from there it is about a 2 1/2 hour drive. But if you like India, and don’t mind some dusty, bumpy roads, there is always a lot to see on the way. The Neeleshwar Hermitage seems to attract people who are looking for peaceful surroundings. Only as we were leaving did we see one very demonstrative guest, who had just arrived, waving a mobile phone by the pool. The rest was a beautiful silence, in what must be one of the best hotels in southern India."Tandjung Sari: "Bali dreaming"
So greatfull that our friends recommended this gem. It was not too far from airport as I had an early flight the next day, however I was able to be in that old style Bail atmosphere for one night only. Nice cocktails, good food and comfortable spacious villa. Canopy bed to rest peacefully in. I even had a midnight swim!Rice & Zen Boutique Resort: "Most amazing place I’ve ever been"
"The sea dance hotel was just the most beautiful place I have ever stayed. I spent months searching for a decent hotel for our holiday and when I found this place and spoke to the manager I thought it must be too good to be true. From being greeted at the airport for our included airport transfer to the hotel I felt Instantly at ease. We were brought to the reception area and were given welcome drinks and cool towels which was just lovely after the long, hot journey we'd had. The resort is something you wouldn't expect it has a lot of growth around every bungalow. Bamboo and bushes making each bungalow private. It is all just so natural. They even grow their own vegetables! We were shown to our room, given a tour around it and then a quick tour around the important places of the resort. The room itself was just magnificent, so clean, smelled so fresh and fresh flowers on the bed, in the bathroom and on the dressing table. It was all just so breathtaking. Our bungalow looked out onto the restaurant and if laying in bed you could just see the sea. Our bungalow had a plunge pool which was perfect as the heat was unbearable for me as I'm a bit of a wimpy English lass, but the pool did really help a great deal. The restaurant. The food. The pool. The cocktails. I could go on but they were all just so amazing. We ate there a few evenings it is quite expensive, but it is worth the expense. The food is just out of this world, the owner poy recommended a few dishes for us and I have never eaten anything quite like it. The breakfast also is just lovely, we stayed for 10 nights and sure yes I was craving chocolate pancakes, I asked and they made them for me, so accommodating and will do what they can. Cocktails at happy hour are just the best and such good value for money however I would pay for them full price as they were just delicious and they always came with a lovely chat, smile and good company from the staff or people around the bar. The beach around the hotel is pretty jaggy on your feet. I found that out the hard way! But it's beautiful to sit on the loungers on the beach with a cocktail watching the waves, lightning and sunset. It's a beautiful little area with such beautiful views and very quiet. They also let you lend their kayaks which we did a few days and rowed our way out and along the sea a few times. Such fun! The resort is a little way out of town. It is about a 45 min walk to chaweng, 20 min to chongmon. Taxis are about 300/400bht. But if you catch a zongtou (I think that's it, bit like a tuktuk) you can get places pretty cheap 60/100bht for 2. However the best way to get around would be to hire a scooter from just outside the hotel. 200/250bht for 24hrs. When we go back we will hire for the week. This place is a family run place. From the moment me and my partner stepped into the car at the airport to the moment we left We felt like part of their family. We were invited to a night out with the owner, his sister and a few others on our first night which was just amazing! They are such wonderful people and it really does reflect on the experience we had because they defiantly made it the perfect holiday but in a non overpowering way. They knew the right amount of conversation to have with you and when you just wanted to have some time alone. I miss this places every day and writing this makes me sad as I want to be back so badly! If you go here you will love every minute. Me and my partner are 25/26 and it was honestly the best experience of our life to date. ❤️❤️ Stayed October 2016, traveled as a couple"
