MesaStila: "A peaceful sanctuary"
"MesaStila Resort and Spa is very serene and quiet; it is lovely for a getaway to do some writing, reading and relaxing. Our room (Aroum Villa) also had an outdoor day bed area which had the view of Mt Andong which was terrific. The room came with a bath tub which was nice to soak in and just while the time away. The room also had all the necessary amenities to make it a comfortable stay. The staff also made our bed and refilled the water twice a day. We also had complimentary fruits, and desserts in the evening. I would definitely recommend this to friends who are intending to have a short getaway, and I must say the staff at the resort made the stay very comfortable; they were attentive to our needs, and made us feel at home. We had a cycling trip to Candi Umbul and Grabag market, and our guide Nur made the experience very worthwhile. We also had a Sunrise tour at Borobodur and it was breathtaking. The tour guide, Latiff, provided many insights into the culture and philosophy of the Buddhists, and shared information about Indonesia as well. My friend and I didn't manage to try the Hammond spa (which was award-winning) and we would love to do so when we next visit MesaStila. One minor quip I had was how the menu was the same for the 4 days we were there; if there could be more variety, it would have made the resort experience perfect. My friend and I particularly liked the Indonesia dishes (at dinner) and the breakfast menu - A recommended dish would be the Nasi Goreng (fried rice). You can choose either red or white rice for the said dish, and we had the red rice option; I must say, it was a pleasant surprise! I particularly liked the muesli at breakfast - the breakfast was hearty and kept us filled for the day. I can go on about how lovely our experience at MesaStila was, but I'm afraid my words would not do justice to it; you would just have to experience it. They have thought out activities to keep their guests occupied (as the resort is situated rather far away from the city area) and have gone the extra mile to make the experience unforgettable for their guests. Lastly, I would recommend having tea at the Club House; it is calming and relaxing and the pastries went well with their wide selection of teas (and coffee). I truly had a reinvigorating time at the resort; I invite you to experience the same."MesaStila Resort and Spa: "Great location to unwind and relax"
"The stay was actually in December 2016, so this review is very long overdue. The five of us booked two villas, and since we were the only guests during our stay, it felt like we rented the whole property. The property is quite secluded, which makes it the perfect location to just get away from the hustle and bustle of life and relax a bit. Get closer to nature, join a yoga session or two, and there's even a rigorous jungle gym trained by a marathoner for the more active guests. Service was great, everything was meticulously prepared with great care by the staffs. When we left, almost everyone (including the management) came out to bid us farewell. Almost makes us not want to leave. One other thing worth noticing is the jamu (javanese herbal concoctions), which are freshly made every morning during breakfast. I'm not usually a jamu person, but I partake quite a lot (almost every kind) that's available."Supanniga Eating Room: "This is a review of the Supanniga main location on Sathorn 10"
"Supanniga Group has several restaurants over Bangkok and, somehow, all seem to merge (at least as the TripAdvisor is concerned) into one location at Sukhumvit 55. This is unfortunate, since all have their distinct personality. In particular, the main location on Sathorn 10, is a more interesting version of Supanniga and diners are unnecessarily diverted to the Sukhumvit branch. Try Sathorn Soi 10 and you'll not be disappointed. Traditional Thai cuisine at its best served at a very pleasant location in a well hidden but easily accessible small soi near the Chong Nonsi BTS. Food is superb, try it if you want to taste the real Thai food. Also, for tourists/short time visitors, this should be your chance to see Thailand from inside. Avoid the glitter of the main avenues, go deep into side sois and you'll discover an entirely different, and more authentic Thailand."Villa Song Saigon: "very satisfied customer"
This is a great place to stay if you like being treated like royalty. The staff is all fabulous, the room was very comfortable, and the food and drinks were exceptional. The chef came out to greet us personally and discuss meal options. Convenient boat shuttle to downtown Ho Chi Minh City.Muang La Lodge: "Total relaxation – piece of heaven in Laos"
"Set by the confluence of two small rivers, the Muang La Lodge is a piece of tranquility set in a picturesque location. Comprising of 10 rooms all in pairs of buildings either along the river or in the lush grounds. The river rooms are certainly worth the little extra cost to secure. It is a 5 hour drive up from Luang Prabang through some spectacular scenery but the journey is well worth it. The lodge provides inclusive meals - there is little else in the village near by - but these are excellent. All the staff are local and the chef, who we understand had been there six years, is very talented. There is a five course set menu each evening though they go out of their way to accommodate likes and dislikes ensuring everyone has a wonderful time. The managers whilst we were there were French and on call pretty much 24/7. The lodge also will organise trips out to visit the hill tribes and also treks through the countryside - both very worth doing. There is a bridge linking the lodge to an island in the rivers which has on it an infinity edge swimming pool and a viewing platform to watch the sunset. After dark it can turn cold so fleeces are provided by the lodge and also they will put buckets of hot coals by each dining table - it can get that cold. Really it would be hard to find anything to be picky about here so do go and have a relaxing time. Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"Villa Song Saigon: "A luxurious and peaceful escape from the bustle of the city"
"Our first two nights in Vietnam were spent at Villa Song. This was the most idyllic way to kickstart our holiday. The location beside the river is specatular. We had the suite on the top floor with the little parlour. Our two girls slept in the parlour which worked perfectly - leaving us in the four poster bed. This is a very romantic, charming hotel - the furnishings and fittings are beautiful. But the key for us was that it is away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The first day we were collected by tour company Les Rives to take us by boat to the Chi Chi Tunnels – this was perfect because they could simply collect us and drop us back at the hotel’s private pier. The restaurant is fabulous – a beautiful al fresco location for dinner and breakfast. "Yandabo Home: "Way beyond expectations"
"Yandabo is probably best known for the Treaty signed in 1826 which ended the first Anglo Burmese War as well as its famous clay pottery made in an old traditional way from river clay. Yandabo Home is an excellent stop on the ferry journey from Bagan to Mandalay or vice versa. We stayed two nights into Christmas and had a most enjoyable stay. The ""resort"" consists of 12 spacious rooms with all mod cons. Teak floors, painted grey and cream walls and an excellent bathroom consisting of a large walk in shower, double sinks, a large bed and plenty of space. There is a safe and mini-bar but no TV or WiFi. All the rooms are on the upper decking and the dining area is lower down. Food was surprisingly good and we had the Christmas Eve menu on our second night. This was very good and the kitchen had gone to a lot of trouble to prepare this and with plenty of drinks too! We were very fortunate to meet the owner, Dr Aung Myat Kyaw, a charming man and found out that Yandabo Home is actually part of a number of hotels owned including three in Ngapali Beach as well as one of the cruise boat companies plying the river. The village itself is interesting and there is plenty to see sitting back watching the river and birdlife. Highly recommended."Mie Cafe: "Sophisticated dining"
This charming restaurant ticks all the boxes. Service is efficient, friendly and knowledgeable, the food is local but with a modern twist, and beautifully presented, and the setting is in a pretty garden. The tonle sap fish salad, and the frozen lime pie were particularly good. The Island Lodge: "Shangri-La on the Mekong"
"This hotel enjoys an idyllic location on the banks of the Mekong & everything about it is right. Our room provided a great view of the river & waking up to the dawn chorus of roosters crowing & the gentle murmur of river traffic was a delight. We were then able to move to the balcony & watch the sun rise. Our spotlessly clean room was spacious & comfortable with copious quantities of bamboo in keeping with the location. The bed was large & comfortable with an attached shower room & separate toilet. The food at both dinner & breakfast was superb & my wife commented that her quiche & salad was one of the best she had ever eaten. I still remember the exquisite chocolate fondant. Breakfast was cooked to order so we could have as much as we wanted & nothing was wasted. Service throughout our visit was exemplary. Outside, the hotel has a good-sized swimming pool & sauna with ample sun loungers, complete with parasols, towels & sun hats, for all the guests so there is no need to arrive early & reserve one. We recommend this hotel unreservedly for all ages."David’s Kitchen: "Superb! Chiang Mai’s Superior Restaurant"
"Living in Chiang Mai for part of the year, I'd heard about David's. All positive remarks, but really did not understand how truly exceptional this restaurant is. A friend took me to David's for a belated birthday dinner. I was in heaven! The setting and ambience was elegant yet very comfortable. The service impeccable! I suggest their simple field greens salad and then go for the gusto...snails, duck, pork Asian style. And! My favorite desert is Creme Brule ....it was fantastic. Yes, it is more expensive than most restaurants in CM....but we are talking 5 stars here. In my estimation nothing compares to David's ...in Chiang Mai. The Very Best! Make sure you book a day or do in advance."
