Cuisine Wat Damnak: "Dining experience not to be missed"

Review by: NJBAM | Source: Trip Advisor
"The setting, food and service were top notch. If you are someone that wants to enjoy a unique and delicious meal this must be on your list in Siem Reap. I saw on their website that reservations must be made weeks in advance. There were 4 in our party. There were two tasting menus to choose from and 2 of us had one menu, 2 the other. The chef and his staff take great care in presenting beautiful, unique and wonderful dishes. The price point is so reasonable that as U.S. Citizens we were blown away for what is brought to the table. The owner reached out to me once the reservation was confirmed to ask about any food allergies.I found that to be very considerate and a testament to wanting to be certain that the menu offered to customers is not compromised . The owner greeted us warmly after we arrived and the chef came out to speak to us as well as others having dinner. The ride from our hotel in a tuktuk was fun as well. As I said earlier, the setting is lovely. We all loved the entire experience at Cuisine Wat Damnak. We did sit inside by the way which was comfortable and a personal preference, rather than outside with fans. That may or not be an option depending on when you make your reservation. I would not bring children here."

Mie Cafe: "Really really good"

Review by: tjwb | Source: Trip Advisor
Went on the recommendation of a local and were blown away by the quality of the cooking here. We weren't surprised to hear that the patron/chef had trained in a Michelin 2 Star in Switzerland. The food shames many one star restaurants I've eaten in elsewhere. We both started with scallop tartare with seaweed and heart of coconut. I followed with Fish Amok and S with a risotto. All just superb. We are going back tonight. Do not miss if you are in town.

SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Cook to Perfection!"

Mie Cafe: "Amazing food and service"

Review by: Jacqueline L | Source: Trip Advisor
I came here for lunch by myself and was amazed by the pleasant environment. I sat at the garden and the staff nicely put 2 fans facing me. The food was great - I had beef tartare which was marinated with local herbs and topped with plenty of parmesan cheese. I also had the fish amok which is a classic Khmer dish. The meal was ended with a homemade vanilla ice-cream. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Reverie Siam Pai: "Luxury stay at Pai"

Review by: Kevin V | Source: Trip Advisor
"This property is really astonishing. Very beautiful and fully equipped room, luxury restaurant and 2 nice pools. A shuttle (some sort of Rolls Royce golf caddy) from the hotel picks you up and drops you off again at the bus station. The shuttle drives you to town every 30 mins. Reception ladies really helpful and friendly. Only thing that was a bit less: the cocktails were rather expensive and more ice then Cocktail. The hotel has some home infused gins, so we had to try that one out. But after one, we called it a day. Too much Baht for that amount of drink. I guess its a bit a normal standard in this kind of luxury hotels. But that is really the only downside I can think of."

SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "If I never eat out again before I die – I won’t have missed much"

"Early January found us in Yangon and birthdays to celebrate. Being treated to Seeds by our son and daughter-in-law was a gift beyond compare. The setting, the food and wine, the attention to detail all delivered with what appeared to be a comfortably casual air but so obviously wasn't. Felix and Lucia you are to be congratulated not only for your food but for the delightful attitude that you have bestowed upon your staff. Cocktails by the lake is the perfect starter to a truly wonderful dining experience. I would strongly recommend making Seeds a non-negotiable part of any visit to Yangon."

Dewakan: "Pride of Malaysia: A culinary journey that reflects Malaysia’s heritage"

Review by: Crystal C | Source: Trip Advisor
"We went for the full works - a 10-course dinner at RM207 per person, and we were not disappointed in the least! Although there are 10 courses described in the menu, we were served a number of finger foods to munch on before the first appetizers were served. , such as fried fish fritters that taste like the traditional East Coast snack, keropok lekor and were shaped like long, elegant twigs that were thought were merely decorative items at first. The starters included a refreshing razor clam salad, the razor clams being a staple of many local seafood restaurants, but given a twist as was served with shaved ice flavoured with a medley of savoury local tastes and colours that made it look more like a dessert at first - only to be pleasantly surprised by the savory, exotic flavours blended together in an icy bite. The next few courses were equally outstanding, taking us through the kind of preparation techniques you would only find in the fanciest restaurants, from flavour-infused foam, to purees and emulsions, meat cooked confit-style, and even to salted egg yolks harded, pressed into thin slices, and broken into brittle pieces... and yet using the humblest of flavours, vegetables and ingredients that remind any Malaysian that grew up in this country of grandma's cooking. Another stand out dish was the Forbidden Porridge, which had almost-raw slivers of ox tongue served on soft, sticky black glutinous rice and accompanied by a mushroom and wild vegetable broth that they boil in a coffee syphon, with the whole vegetables, roots and all, thrown into the mix, for an incredibly heady flavour that becomes especially intense when you pour it over the ox tongue and black rice and mix all of it together. The desserts are equally impressive, from the meringues to the ganache to the ice cream made from delicious, Southeast Asian local flavours. Again, just as the razor-clam blended dessert inspiration (in the form of shaved ice sprinkled with coloured syrups) in a savory dish, the desserts push the boundaries by using savory flavours eg. pulut (glutinous rice) in a sweet ice cream. It's an experience that starts off confusing, then pleasantly surprising, and then ends in an incredibly satisfying way. Service was great, especially impressive as they are manned by a staff made mostly of students-in-training. If you love fine dining, exquisite cooking methods, and aromatic Southeast Asian flavours, Dewakan is THE restaurant to visit in Malaysia. In one sitting, this is possibly THE most varied and comprehensive tasting of the Malaysian food culture prepared with the finest culinary techniques by a team of professional chefs."

Neeleshwar Hermitage: "Paradise Found"

Review by: Gillian W | Source: Trip Advisor
"Having spent two crazy weeks exploring Delhi, Varanasi, Agra etc. we flew down for a week in southern India to unwind. I had picked the Neeleshwar Hermitage from a photo of the swimming pool I had seen in The Trailfinders brochure, and it more than lived up to my expectations. The welcome was genuinely warm, and our cottage was just lovely. The discreet but friendly staff were always on hand for anything we needed. We arrived in the dark, and so waking up to the Arabian sea was a real treat. The beach went on for miles and was virtually deserted. The sea was warm and inviting, and the infinity pool was superb. Both restaurants were excellent, and breakfast beside the beach was fantastic. I had a wonderful treatment in the spa, and would recommend a visit. Following 3 nights at the resort we transferred for one night on the houseboat. What a wonderful, fabulous experience that I will always treasure. A perfect end to an amazing holiday. Room Tip: Some of the cottages face the sea, but we had a garden view and it was still lovely."

Cuisine Wat Damnak: "ONE of the BEST Meals Ever"

Review by: Chris F | Source: Trip Advisor
I was able to get in here because of a cancellation and brought my entire family of six to dine. We all did the 6 course meal and we all were over the top with the fabulous dishes that came out. I've eaten at many top restaurants in the U.S. and this is absolutely in similar class BUT it's so much less expensive. On average, we were spending $135 for 6 of us to dine at mediocre restaurants highly rated in Siem Reap where we spent $200 here with bottle of wine and beer for an over-the-top dining experience. Well Worth It!

Jing’s Residence: "Exceptional charm and luxury In an ancient city"

Review by: Hinda S | Source: Trip Advisor
After staying in wonderful luxury hotels in three cities in China, our arrival at Jing's residence was a delightful and very satisfying change. From the moment we stepped inside this lovingly restored boutique hotel we knew we were in for a treat. And what a treat it was! From the a decor that featured beautiful objects everywhere we looked and the rooms that provided every comfort to the charming dining room and terrace and well stocked bar, we felt well cared for and well fed. There was always a special surprise - such as the bag of honey dates waiting in the room to appease traveller's fatigue or the lovely handmade object left on the turned down bed at night. And the staff was incredibly cheerful and helpful. Our only regret was that we could not stay longer.
