Glenburn Tea Estate: "What a stunning place"
"After a bad experience in one of the ""top"" hotels in Darjeeling itself, we came to the Glenburn a night earlier than we had planned. As soon as we arrived and got a very warm welcome from Alex we knew we would like it here. Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated in a colonial style. After settling into our room tea and cake was brought down to us (another major plus as far as we are concerned). The staff were fantastic. Dinner was very civilised and the food was great. A 2.5hr trek down to the river was another highlight...it's quite a trek but we had a great guide and upon arrival one of the team was waiting with cool towels and a drink. We then had G&Ts and a delicious lunch served by the river bank. Magical. Highly recommended and we will definitely come back."Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "An incredibly magical stay in George Town!"
When I came across the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion I knew that it would be a special place, however, it completely exceeded my expectations! There is really no place like it in George Town and even the world. This carefully restored historic mansion helps evoke the history of the city, it has beautiful antiques and family heirlooms, making you feel like your a guest of Mr Cheog Fatt Tze himself. Rooms are very spacious, include top quality luxury fittings and are all unique. There's also an excellent restaurant which I'd recommend for their great value lunch menu or for a romantic dinner. The pool was an added bonus, considering it can get hot in George Town! I hope to be able to return to this fabulous hotel!Maison Polanka: "Ideal base in Siem Reap"
"To us, Maison Polanka is the ideal type of place to stay. With only a maximum of 10 guests in luxuriant grounds of 6000 sq m, it provides a tranquil oasis to rest after the jostle of Angor Wat. This creates an intimate atmosphere where one gets the chance to interact with both staff & other guests. The Sala next to the pool is a very pleasant place to have a quiet dinner. Both dinners we had there and also the breakfasts were excellent. We went out to the nearby Marun Restaurant (where marginalized kids are trained to work in hospitality) because we wanted to support the cause."Blackitch Artisan Kitchen: "Unique experience"
"Blackitch is unique. This restaurant must be booked a month in advance - the reason... There are three tables and everything is absolutely awesome. Chef Black creates a new menu every day. Each course is made from ingredients that are fresh... Either imported scallops from Japan flown in, or a selection of greens that are perfectly ripe from the local farm. So don't expect consistency - you will have a new experience with every course, and with some you may like and others not - but each course is made by a master painter experimenting with the wide variety of foods available. Chef Black creates each of the six courses table side and then explains in English or Thai why and how he put together the dish. There were three of us dining. We all choose different courses as our favourite dish - which is testament to the chef's versatility and style. Desert is made from the downstairs kitchen. If you are lucky, you might also get to try the house made plum wine - which was superb with desert. I expect one day the ""kitch"" will be expanded into a Michelin star restaurant - so be sure to book here before that happens. You will never forget the experience of being totally spoiled in this globally unique restaurant."The Island Lodge: "Lovely lodge, beautiful grounds, easily accessible from Ho Chi Minh City"
The Island Lodge was perfect for our family holiday. The lodge has a great, handy location, we wanted a taste of the Mekong and did not have time to travel any further yet we felt tucked away in the greenery beside the river. It is a smaller boutique style family owned place with beautiful grounds, gardens and wonderfully friendly helpful staff. The food and the spa are very nice, we had a really enjoyable stay.Neeleshwar Hermitage: "Third visit to this oasis in the Kerala"
This is an eco hotel that doesn't stint on luxury. Just a dozen or so authentic Keralan bungalows in a coconut grove by the sea. Staff outnumber the guests and deliver first class unobtrusive service. Comfortable roomy beds with high quality bed linen. Exquisite food in both restaurants. Yards from the sea where dolphins swim and locals fish. All staff are dedicated to making sure you are happy with everything. Won't pick out any one as they all deserve a mention. Very good spa also. We will be back again next year!!Maduzi Hotel: "Our Bangkok oasis"
"We have stayed here numerous times and we'll keep coming back for more. The location is second to none, perfectly located right near the ever so efficient BTS, ASOK station, yet you feel as though you're In your own little oasis once you walk through the gates. (Do yourself a favour and buy a 'Rabbit Card' so you can jump on and off the transport system with ease and enjoy all that this vibrant city has to offer). The staff are always happy to assist with anything you require (btw, they won't accept any tips, it's their policy - no matter how hard you try.) The rooms are spacious, clean and beautifully appointed. The mini bar is included in the price of the room too, another quirky yet welcome Maduzi offering. Breakfasts are delicious! We almost always get the Japanese set breakfast. You can enjoy this in their fabulous restaurant where you'll also have a buffet to pick from, all inclusive. Or, you can order it to your room and they'll put together a buffet selection for you. Yes, this is a small boutique hotel with only 40 rooms and 7 levels, no pool or laundry (you can get the hotel to organise your washing for you) but the beautiful ambiance all around, central location and friendly staff make up for the lack of amenities. We'd choose this place over any of the big guys any day!"Sea Dance Resort: "Chill out in the pool"
After sailing around Samui the whole week we need to chill-out at a special location. The Sea Dance Resort allow residents to use the pool during our stay. My wife enjoyed a deep thai massage and my son and me had a healthy lunch and some drinks at the pool bar. Great afternoon. The Island Lodge: "Great place for short vacations 2 hours from Saigon. We enjoyed it for a short stay"
This family owned boutique mini-resort is a well maintained, pleasant, smallish resort which is a good place for families or people who want to experience Mekong Delta or take a short vacation from Saigon. The food was very good, both the French menu and the Vietnamese menu, at the restaurant which has a lounge and bar area and is well integrated with the resort. The children enjoyed the pool, and its kid friendly in general. As a weekend resort destination, is most comparable to An Lam Saigon, and is more premium and much better food than the Ho Tram Beach Boutique Resort and Spa, and much better than the Ho Tram Sanctuary in all ways.Yandabo Home: "wonderful facility"
Located along the river we were lucky only d.etre overnight. Serenities a bubble in the middle of nowhere. The bungalow is new, spacious beautifully decorated with a large bathroom. The staff is on hand to make this place unique. The restaurant is very good with traditional cuisine. Breakfast is served at the table and croissants come from afar to satisfy customers. Do not miss .
