We were seated at the chef's table got to watch The Kitchen Magic. One of my favorite all-time meals treated to a 10 course dining experience, the service was great and the dining with Windows overlooking the gardens you're breathtaking. Since the beaches in Gili air is not that great, we really enjoyed having a private pool. Jobwise I have stayed in some of the fanciest and most expensive hotels throughout the whole world. But this is one of the nicest, most charming, most wonderful places I have ever stayed in. The staff is simply perfect. They don´t breathe down your neck but are always taking care that you might feel even more comfortable. Stylewise this resort reminded me of Luang Prabang and the great architecture of Indochine. Every gramophone, every chair, every pillow has been picked out with perfect style-and I truly would not have blinked if Hercule Poirot himself would have been sitting in one of those inviting armchairs. Situated directly by the river, one has perfect privacy if wanted. The two pools are great to swim and sunbathe and we even had a picknick (we brought ourselves) in the pavilion. I found it very hard to leave but am sure to return. Oh- I forgot to say that the rooms are not only lovely with their big beds, the bathroom with its huge detached tub and all those perfect fittings let you travel back into time. I just can't take my eyes off the menu, huge variety of dishes and hold on, what is this? How come I have never seen such kind of food in BKK restaurants? My eyes just open wide when the friendly staffs serve the dishes on the table. Just love how the food is arranged meticulously on Thai-style plate. Truly authentic Thai recipes, simple ingredients but overwhelming taste. Could suppaniga launch cooking class? :PMaison Polanka: "The perfect retreat"
This hotel is amazing, I can't wait to visit again. A little oasis in a beautiful country. The Khmer house was so beautiful. Our stay at La Villa Mathis was simply the best we did in Bali! The team is lovely, the room classy and cosy, the food is exquisite, the Spa is lovely and of course the four pools are just amazing !! I had never felt so incredibly welcome at any other restaurant in the world! Since the first second I got there, everything was absolutely fantastic! David himself and all the staff put on an enormous effort to make sure everyone in the restaurant is having the best experience a dinner could possibly be. Of course, the food is splendid! Good spot away from the bustle of city. Shuttle service via boat is a great service. Lovely setting for dining overlooking the river. Pool was relaxing and private. Room was on the small side but beds very comfortable.
