"Amazing hospitality experience at Tugu Malang! Once checking in, it felt like family. And the hotel staff did a better job of remembering my name than any other place I've ever stayed. Was sad to leave. Hotel has great combo of modernity and style. Fantastic three-course fresh and healthy breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed the suite; the historical paintings led us to do some internet research and learn more about the colonial history. "An exquisite traditional house (hanok) set on a side street off Bukchonro road in the center of the Bukchon neighborhood. Set around a quiet courtyard, there are four beautiful rooms – each different. We had the smallest room, but with it came a dark wood porch jutting out into the courtyard and it was here where we had delicious breakfasts (one morning: mackerel, kimchee, pickles, a delicious seaweed rice porridge and barley tea.) You can also arrange to have a Korean dinner – we had a delicious one of Galbi, lots of small dishes (panchan) and chapchae. To unwind even more there is a small sauna tucked into the hanok – woven mats on the floor and patterns of cherry blossom trees, an excellent way to relax after a long day of exploring. To top it off the host is incredibly sweet, friendly and helpful. Mr. Kim provided with all sorts of ideas and recommendations as we planned our adventures. "Wir hatten das Zimmer 208 welches zum Pool lag. Abends wurde es wegen dem Restaurant um ca.20 Uhr mal ca. 1 Std. laut, was uns nicht störte. Kurz Fenster zu und gut. Wir genossen die Badewanne und die nicht zu überbietende Freundlichkeit der Mitarbeiter. Man wurde mit Namen angesprochen und jeder war um unser Wohl bedacht. Das Essen im Restaurant war sehr gut und das Ambiente des gesamten Hotels unübertroffen.Als man bemerkte das wir mit dem typisch indonesischen Frühstück nicht glücklich waren gab es eine Breakfast-Karte mit allem Schnickschnack. "Rarely does one find a jewel like this, where staff and owner are welcoming, friendly and nothing is too much. Marcus and his team really go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable, relaxing, rejuvenating. Then comes the view : simply breathtaking. And the cozy rooms in chalets built of local materials, all conscious of the environment and preserving it. This place is just fab, very well maintained heritage castle. The property is beautiful and takes you back to the royal living. Hospitality of the staff is just amazing. Mr. Harminder Singh's hospitality was just out of the world. Meals were authentic Rajasthani cuisine, made with lot of love and served with even more love :-) Overall me and my family had a wonderful experience which we will never forget. "The food was amazing - I work in a Michelin star kitchen and it baffles me how CWD has yet to get at least one Michelin star. We chose Tasting Menu 2: Amuse Bouche Duck Confit with Crispy Rice Steamed Mekong Langoustine Tonle Sap Croaker Fish Angkor Stout Pulled Pork Green & Ripe Mango Tart Fresh Seasonal Fruit Platter We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the eating the last bites of the each dish made me so sad, knowing that the experience would soon be over. For 31usd per pax, excluding drinks - I thought we got more than a fair deal for the amount and the quality of the food. Chef Joannès Rivière was also kind enough to oblige us when we requested to take a photo with him at the end of the meal, which truly was the cherry on the cake. Merci Chef! & thank you Carole, for helping out with the birthday surprise! If we ever make the visit to Siem Reap again, it'd definitely be just for Cuisine Wat Damnak. The Twelve Hotel is a relatively new boutique hotel in a beautiful residential neighborhood in Bangkok. Away from the hustle and bustle, yet steps from street food, taxis, tuk tuks, and not far from a BTS station, it is a welcome oasis in that crazy wonderful city. I arrived to a very friendly and graceful greeting, and was very pleased at a room upgrade which I had not earned in any way. So speaking of value I will of course rate very highly though I cannot say how the other rooms were. I can only imagine they were as lovely as the one I had, which was spacious and elegant. The staff were incredibly helpful with directions and instructions for my planned travel to other parts of the city. The hotel owners are French, so breakfast had great croissant, baguette, coffee, fruit, and so forth. I usually prefer local breakfasts when traveling but this was a nice respite and well done. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel for any stay in Bangkok.
