Misool Eco Resort: "Paradise"
After 8 flight connections and a 4 hour boat ride from the US, this place was just paradise! The passion that these 2 individuals have for this area of the world is evident in their respect and protection of the ecobalance of nature...from the use of only fallen logs for the buildings and furniture to the use of natural bacteria and plant life to filter the water services. The food was wonderful with a local influence and nice variety. The staff were from the surrounding and some far away villages and so very friendly. (...) Our dive guides on our boat, Marafel and Ferry, were so great to hang out with. So fun and friendly, and knowledgeable of the reefs and fishes! They even rescued our camera after we got excited with the mantas on our safety stop. Even though we don't know their names, all the behind the scenes staff were wonderful in making this vacation so relaxing and exciting at the same time! Even if you're not a diver, the house reef is wonderful for snorkeling and the view from the water cottages is breathtaking! We would go back in a heartbeat and I urge you to go and see this piece of paradise for yourself!! Terri F., St Jacob, ILCuisine Wat Damnak: "Fine dining in Siem Reap"
This restaurant was recommended in a Sunday newspaper article in the UK so we booked online well in advance. The restaurant kept in touch by email to confirm our booking. We were originally booked to eat upstairs where the ventilation is by fan rather than air conditioning but as the was a table in the courtyard we opted to eat there. We were met at the gate by the chef Joannes Riviere who made us welcome and was very attentive to his guests. There is a choice of two tasting menus which change on a regular basis and we had a wonderful selection of dishes. We drank the house white wine which was a French sauvignon blanc and good value. Altogether a memorable experience.SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Fantastic.."
"..international restaurant in a beautiful setting. Superb in every way, the class reflects the commitment of the chef, his wife and staff. We chose tasting menus, fabulous! Food is global but the setting overlooking a lake is pure Myanmar. Wonderful wine list at sensible prices for what you get. Special mention to thank the staff for assisting us at our second visit when one of us was taken ill. Helped us wonderfully and we were very grateful."Chakrabongse Villas: "An Oasis Along the Chao Phraya River"
This is simply an oasis, tucked behind gates in a garden setting on the property of a member of the extended royal family. We felt that we were treated like royalty ourselves by Atom and Ohm. They were both so kind and helpful. The property has a resplendent landscaping of fountains, a long trellised archway with potted orchids that leads to the restaurant, which was lighted at night, and a nice private swimming pool surrounded by landscaping. We stayed nine nights and enjoyed the Mali room. The room had all the amenities of a fine large resort but with a more charming character. The room was large enough to be comfortable. We like the coffee bar just outside our room and found it nice to come back and have an English cup of tea after our day tours. The bathroom was kept tidy with fresh towels everyday, and supplied with a nice quality of shampoo, conditioner and lotions should need them. The restaurant overlooking the river is simply elegant. The breakfast was very good and the dinners were sublime. They also have a driver that they arranged to pick us up and return us to the airport for a fair price. This was so nice after a 12 hour flight to be met at the airport, by simple instructions, instead of getting a random cab. The hotel helped us confirm the time of our tour pickups each day we were taking a tour by calling the tour operator on our behalf. They would help us to get reservations at other restaurants when their restaurant was not open. We appreciate their kind and caring assistance. We enjoyed our experience so much that when we return to Bangkok we will stay at Chakrabongse, and so should you.Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "Absolutely Lovely!"
We treated ourselves to a night at Tiger Mountain after a trek in the Annapurna region. The combination of a stunning location, gorgeous stone cottage accommodation and an excellent level of service sets Tiger Mountain apart from other places in Nepal. We were very impressed with the knowledge and service level of the staff, the comfort of the rooms and the excellent food provided. Two of us decided to do the morning guided bird watching tour, which was excellent. We saw an amazing assortment of birds on a short walk around the property, including a very pretty scarlet minivet. The views from the property are superb!MesaStila: "A hidden treasure"
MesaStila wellness spa is an ideal getaway from the daily routines. The environment is pleasant, the view is gorgeous (I got a direct view of mount Telamaya from my villa), both the management and the crew are fully client service oriented and there are ample of activities prepared for guests throughout the days to keep us occupied, and the daily yoga classes is the winner for me.Villa Song: "Beautiful boutique hotel"
"This hotel is an old french colonial building on the banks of the Mekong river in District 2. The rooms are beautiful. By circumstance, we had the opportunity to experience three different rooms in the hotel. The Riverview rooms have a better view, but are noisier with the restaurant below. The garden/pool side rooms are quiet and the view of the garden is lovely, but beyond that into the distance it's just a neighbourhood view which is nothing special. The restaurant serves excellent food - I was actually surprised how wonderful everything we ate there was. There is a free shuttle boat into the city, which is a nice perk."Manda De Laos: "Lovely setting"
What a lovely meal sitting by the huge lily pond all lit up. The food was very good quality. A bit pricier than most restaurants but worth it.Bassac Mekong Delta Cruises by Secret Retreats: "Highlight of our trip to Vietnam"
We were fortunate to take the 2 day with 1 night stay on Bassac 3 with only 9 people. Nicely split 5 French and 4 English. We had the luxury of 2 guides - one French speaking and Annie who looked after us and the other English couple. We learned so much about the Mekong Delta from Annie as she and her family still live there. Our walk in Annie's village was informative and we got to visit a house and eat lovely fresh fruits, ginger and baked rice paper with sesame seeds. We also visited the school. Cabins on the Bassac are compact but comfortable and quiet resulting in a good night's sleep. Food was very tasty and they accommodated peoples preferences as much as possible. We enjoyed our floating market excursion on the smaller boat and actually boarded the pineapple boat and tried one. Annie also took us briefly to the Can Tho food market on our way to our final drop off. Highly recommendedSatri House: "Great Service lovely Hotel"
I booked this hotel for my daughter who was backpacking around Asia because I needed an important document signed and the Hotel said they could arrange everything from downloading the document, printing it and after signing DHL it back to the UK. Well not only did they do this but my daughter had a fantastic stay at the hotel, she loved the bedrooms (very comfy mattress apparently) and loved the service. What more can you ask for. Thank you Phommaly TEVAMITH (Mr), great service!
