The Village House: "Relaxing and chill"

Review by: Phil22091991 | Source: Trip Advisor
Seemingly in the middle of nowhere this hotel was a complete surprise to me. The staff were all incredibly friendly and really helpful with arranging things such as going to the national parks, when the shuttle bus didn't come the boss drove us himself. All the food was fantastic as where the cocktails, highly recommend this place.friendly

David’s Kitchen: "Incredible from beginning to end"

Review by: Karen H | Source: Trip Advisor
All of the superlatives for David's kitchen are well deserved-it is clear that all the people here care and pay attention. Yes David does make an effort to speak to all diners and even more impressive he actually remembers what was said. We received an email the next day detailing our conversation and giving the name of a restaurant in Singapore he had suggested we would love. The food is among the best we have had-Chinag Mai is indeed lucky to have such a high calibre restaurant. We had the seared Tuna(which was presented as beautifully as it tasted) and Foie gras. I had the surf and turf as it was my birthday celebration and my husband had the beef cheeks that were exceptional. The attention to all the details from reservation to greeting to seating and through the dinner, we felt cared for and appreciated. This truly is an exceptional team who deliver on the promise of a fine dining experience- and that it is- A SUPERIOR EXPERIENCE.Well done!

Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "A Room with a View"

Review by: lesleyrosemary | Source: Trip Advisor
I had the most amazing view of the mountains from my stone bungalow. My 4 poster bed was warmed each night with a hot water bottle. The staff were very helpful and the food the best that I had in Nepal. A bird watcher's dream.

Rachamankha: "Gorgeous, completely unique experience"

Review by: Lilly L | Source: tripadvisor.com
I am confident that this will be one of the best hotel experiences of my life. The setting, designed by Thai architect Ong-ard Satrabhandhu, was gorgeous. The grounds are decorated with lovely antiques in the owner's collection. The service was impeccable, and made the experience particularly idyllic. The pool was stunning, the breakfast immaculate. The common areas--open air reading areas with grand ceilings and beautiful furniture, the library with ceiling-high bookshelves and complimentary brandy--were exquisite. Rachamankha tops out at 26 rooms with no children under 12 allowed, which means the experience will always be serene and intimate. And the price, particularly compared to Western hotels, is completely reasonable. What are you waiting for? Book now, if you can!

Sanak Retreat Bali: "simple luxuries"

Review by: Ruth H | Source: Trip Advisor
It may be unpretensious, ethical, and eco-friendly - but don't presume for a moment that Sanak Retreat isn't as beautifully designed and sumptuous as a high end hotel. Forged by the friendship between a local Balinese and a French businessman, the beauty of Sanak Retreat is the loving thought that has gone into every detail. It's the simple things after all that mean so much - the sweet sounds of the rice fields as dusk falls, the sensuous vivid green that surrounds you when the sun rises, the joyful bubbling of the river that runs through the property, the cool mountain air (and no mossies). The beautifully crafted timber villas are decorated with Indonesian textiles and wooden furnishings assembled by an astute collector, giving each room a sense of personal intimacy, and wifi and digital facilities are cutting edge. Local coffee and teas are generously provided. Every standing point has a view over the undulating highly oxygenated valley clear of both modern buildings and any hint of traffic noise. The retreat is deeply immersed in the local community, running a successful plastic recycling project with village children. And the restaurant offers a world class menu, including an extraordinary lemongrass creme brulee and a fine wine list. They will even bake you gluten free bread and pizza with a little warning, but local seafood is also fresh and delicious. There is a gentle, connected sense of calm and beauty here that you will be hard pressed to experience anywhere else in Bali. The spa facilities and private dining gazebo were created by die-hard romantics. And yet nothing is tizzy or florid. Good taste after all, is worth its weight in gold - or rice. And with several pools and lots of local treks, this is also a great place to holiday with children.

Tugu Malang: "Such a wonderful place"

Review by: Hotfarm | Source: Trip Advisor
"During a round trip in Java we passed Malang and had arranged to stay at Hotel Tugu based on a recommendation from our Indonesian travel agent - and we were not disappointed!! Upon arrival we were greeted by the smiling and very friendly staff in the reception. We immediately felt welcome and 'at home'. At the same time we received a voucher for 15 minutes of (free) massage and an invitation for afternoon tea. The rooms are not large but large enough, with a nice bed and beautiful decorations ... especially the bathroom with the hand-hammered stainless steel bathtub impressed me. Even before we started unpacking we were seated in the museum-like lobby and had both Java tea and Java coffee served alongside the wonderful selection of small cakes ... in light of the easy access to coconut, the only thing I missed was the Danish 'kokos-toppe' (coconut tops) :-) Later we had dinner in the restaurant and after recommendation from the staff we had some excellent meals. In the morning we experienced the same eagerness to help and we ended up trying a number of both local and Indonesian breakfast dishes. A final observation ... all hotel managers - listen and learn ... when we checked out we got a small farewell present; - a package of the coffee used for the Java coffee, - we got a big smile and - a 'think of us when you have your next coffee'. This is so good thinking compared to other hotels which e.g. gives a Danish family 20% discount on airport transfer and a free membership of the Family Club if we come back to Indonesia with the family before Christmas. If I'm ever back in Malang I would not dream of staying anywhere else. Thank you"

Yandabo Home: "takes your breath away"

Review by: Sumeetbr | Source: Trip Advisor
"when u travel frequently and to many places, u become immune to surprises in hotels..and then something like the yandabo home comes your way..and just blows you away..the product is impeccable..in design, materials and extreme good taste..the location is exceptional..on a bend of a large river..the high roofs..the glass roof light in the shower...and the service and food are great..not to mention the enthusiasm with which the staff takes u around a remarkable remote village of skilled potters..ideal for what is increasingly rare in international travel..a look at the skills of artisans in a genuine surrounding.. Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"
