Anopura: "Still wonderful"
"We returned to Anopura after three years, and enjoyed it just as much as before. The remote setting is wonderful, the accommodation is excellent, and Ishwar and his team provide a wonderful service. Breakfast by the pool, lunch in the shade and dinner under the stars are all delightful, with fresh local ingredients. On a walk with Ishwar we got to meet some of the producers of the food we'd eaten in the days before. After five hectic weeks in Rajasthan this was a marvellous way to finish our trip. We would love to return again. Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"The Cabochon Hotel: "The Friendliest place in BKK"
I do not have enough words for how much I liked this hotel. I was traveling alone with a 10 month old baby (something that can be a bit hard from time to time as you have noone to share the work with). At Cabochon we had a great shelter to return to from the busy streets. Even though I love the whole style of this hotel I still think that the team is what makes it really really special. They are genuine friendly and independent and cared so much for us. Everyone is child friendly. I was able to arrange babysitting with them to go to a spa one evening. On top of this they have a great restaurant attached to the hotel which I can highly recommend. Since everyone wanted to play with my son I was also able to enjoy a peaceful dinner on my own which was quite nice. Breakfast is a treat and you can choose from a selection of breakfast types. We enjoyed an asian breakfast and it was my favourite on this journey. Apart from this the hotel is just beautiful and has a calm and cool colonial flair in the middle of the hot and dirty city. We enjoyed our stay at Cabochon so much that I can not praise this hotel enough!Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "The Last of a Dying Breed"
"They don't make hotels like this anymore. Which is a pity, because a stay at Tiger Mountain is about so much more than just 'physical' luxury. It's enriching - visually, intellectually and emotionally. First things first - it's a fantastic property, perched high up on a mountain overlooking the Pokhara Valley with fantastic views of the Annapurna range. This is eco-luxury at its finest : great views, great service, great food but with minimal environmental impact. The rooms are nice, in a spartan sort of way (no TV, no WiFi, no aircon - not that you need it) with four poster beds, charmingly rustic furniture and a private, sit out balcony. The food is fantastic - among the best you will ever have, whether it's traditional Nepali fare or the more Western dishes that are traditionally served at dinner. But many hotels have great views, great rooms and great food. Tiger Mountain's secret weapon are it's guests and the fact that dinner is a communal meal where all the guests get together over 4 courses and copious amongst of alcohol. Over the course of 3 nights we met a couple who had driven a Land Rover from London to South Africa and who were currently doing relief work in Nepal, a Scotsman who spent a year living in a campervan with him family and his dog, and an ex military attache who also oversaw the recruitment of Gurkhas for the British Army. Simply put, these are things money can't buy. And that's to say nothing of Marcus, the Managing Director of the place who makes it a point to have a drink with every one of his guests and who has a number of remarkable insights and anecdotes about Nepal, India, England and everything in between to share. If you're looking for a traditional luxury hotel with every modern comfort, this property probably isn't for you. But if you're looking for old world charm, delightful dinnertime conversations and a view that just doesn't quit, Tiger Lodge has your number. It may be a bit pricey, but it's Worth Every Penny."Bassac Cruises: "Very interesting morning"
First of all we took a small boat to the floating market with a lovely breakfast supplied on board. The boat lady was in exceptionally nice and we got some great photos that she pointed out to us. After the markets she dropped us off on the bank and we were met by a local guide and three bicycles. We then spent the next 2 hours gently cycling on small paths through villages in the forest between the small rivers. Very interesting guide who spoke excellent English. Delicious fruit and tea stop on route. Highly recommend both trips.Satri House: "Great place to stay in Laos"
"Satri House in Luangprabang is centrally located. It's a very quaint hotel, first class with lovely rooms and a very, very accommodating staff. Customer service is excellent. Would highly recommend this hotel! Though the hotel is old, all the rooms, courtyards, restaurants, etc. have all the modern conveniences while still retaining the traditional charm. Room Tip: All rooms are good. No elevator due to this being a UNESCO building but staff carries all the lugga."Satri House: "Wonderfully peaceful boutique hotel"
"Had a wonderful time at Satri house in late August for the first few days of our honeymoon. The whole hotel is full of the most fascinating antiques and curios, and is really beautifully designed. We stayed up in the Satri House suite, in the building where the prince of Laos used to sleep! The suite was so beautiful, and had a view over the serene swimming pool. If you are a fan of vintage and mid-century antiques, you will love it! Whilst staying at Satri House (due to it being the raining season) there were no other guests, so we were treated to the experience of staying in our 'own private mansion' with all of the fabulous and incredibly helpful staff there to cater for our every need. Just perfect! No matter the time of day or how late we had been out, we always returned to the hotel to find 4 people at the front desk ready to help us, and two behind the pool side bar, just in case we fancied ordering a drink! The food deserves special mention too. Dinner on the first night was delicious - lots of carefully crafted local specialities with 5* presentation. Although the hotel is set away from the main part of town, it's still within walking distance or a very easy 2 minute tuk tuk ride. We preferred being slightly further out as the peace and quiet was exactly what we wanted at the end of the day. "Arumdalu: "An Amazing Place"
Love the beach, love the service. Food gets a little expensive compared to outside. However they plant everything, from pepper to vegetables. Love the hydroponic system. Do go for the island hopping tour. it's a blast! The Cabochon Hotel: "a charming colonial style hotel off the main drag – perfect"
an ideal location in a busy bustling city ! a perfect antidote to the chaos of bangkok. charming staff, excellent food and a great ambience. The Rooftop pool is excellent, the library well stocked, and the rooms a good size for the price.Rakkojae Seoul: "A peaceful"
This hanok is very beautiful. I had a peaceful moment when staying there. The food is delicious and the host are very helpful and nice. He is a good English speaker, it is easy to communicate with him and he is always in quick respond. Definitely, I will stay here again and highly recommended!Glenburn Tea Estate: "Dreamlike"
"Enchanting - beyond excellent. Wonderful staff and food; special thanks to George Ranjan and Luna. Only slight disappointment was that the mountains were obscured by mist for most of the time, unusually for November."
