The Island Lodge: "Magic on the Mekong"What a surprise, much better than it shows on its website and booking search engines. A touch of casual elegance right on the river. French influences everywhere as you'd expect with French owners, very classy open air restaurant and lounge area facing the pool and river on one side and the garden and villas on the other. Rooms above are bright, airy and extremely pleasant. The food is great, although mostly western style. There's lots to do - cycling and boat trips, visits to local markets etc. Only two hours drive from HCMC (the hotel will arrange a car) it's a great escape from the city - a must visit for people seeking respite from the big smoke.
Mie Cafe: "A perfect Christmas meal!"Mie Cafe is delightful! I will recommend it to everyone going to Siem Reap. The Christmas Day(night) menu was gorgeous. The service was perfection. Everything from the wine, the cocktails to the dessert was wonderful. The mango mojito was delicious! Such a wonderful Christmas meal!
KHWAN BEACH RESORT: "Transit in Heaven""We spent only one night for transit in Khwan Beach, we selected the resort due its advert being first Gallery resort in Thailand, we were curious and we enjoyed over much that short stay next to beach with a manicured and excellent staff service , breakfast included was super great served in the villa, amazing privacy and yet a nice overview of the Ocean (and koh Phangan Island ) 50 meters away. Sure we will come back n stay longer... congratulation for the wholeover amazing decoration "
Neeleshwar Hermitage: "Back to Nature"I have stayed there with my family for one night. It was wonderful experience. The food taste is excellent. The guest service are the ultimate. All the staff especially the reception counter, Ayurveda Spa are always with a bright smile. I have stayed many type of hotels in all over the world, but Neeleshwar Hermitage is a different experience. I strongly recommend this property to all my friends and readers of this review. Its awesome .
Inle Princess Resort: "As before, just excellent""My most recent stay at Inle Princess Resort was, like all my previous ones, wonderful. I find everything at the resort just excellent, the chalets, restaurant, spa, bar, gift shop and again, above all, the people. Several staff members speak some basic German and Spanish and I encourage guests to give them a chance to practice their language skills. The resort is beautiful (a swimming pool was almost completed when I was there), but I find it a very good experience to take a bicycle and to explore the countryside, nearby villages, markets, or the winery, just ask at the front desk. The food, whether Burmese (e.g., curries, Mohinga, home made ice cream) or Western (e.g., BBQ Chicken on Steamed Pumpkin), was always delicious. My secret, I simply followed the recommendations of the chef (Nwe Oo) or of one of her assistants (Mo Kham). Very impressive is the social responsibility of the resort owner family, supporting the local population in many ways (e.g., health, orphanages, schools, education and more)."
Villa Song Saigon: "2 nights wasn’t enough""Fabulous hotel, loved every minute. After a busy 2 weeks travelling south from Hanoi via Mekong Delta it was a real treat to finish our trip with 2 nights at Villa Song. It was extremely hot in Saigon compared to everywhere else so we used the hotel as a sanctuary to recuperate and enjoy. We got it right! The free shuttle boat into town was great and frequent, so the only trip we made was to the market to finish our gift and souvenir shopping, then spent the rest of the day by the pool. It was lovely also to sit by the river watching the 'traffic', with delicious food and friendly staff. Breakfast was served for most of the morning and was a fantastic way to start the day. The room was great (we had an extra bed put into a twin room) on the top storey - a bit of a climb without a lift but not a huge problem, it's not as though you had to carry your bags or anything! Absolutely top of the list for another trip to Saigon, and maybe next time I will be able to drag myself away from the oasis that is Villa Song and see a little bit of the city!"
Villa Song Saigon: "Could not be better""We just came back from out trip to vietnam. While in saigon we stayed 4 nights in this beautiful villa. The villa is far from city, but its next to river and they have their own a very nice speed boat which can take you to the city and pick u up back to hotel (they have schedule when the boat go n back to hotel) it took around 15-20 minutes. So everyday we could enjoy the hustle bustle of saigon city and when we back to villa, we have the quiet, nice, cozy place to relax.. And beautiful view. I will definitely be back to this hotel whenever I visit Saigon in the future. But for the traveller who really into big hotel with so many rooms, crowded n just want to see the city just outside the hotel door, this isnt the place for them"
Locavore: "Stunning food"Fantastic experience. The degustation was superb, pairing with the cocktails even better. I decided to have some wine with the degustation. Must book in advanced as they are very popular.
Dewakan: "Innovative yet true to its Malaysian heritage"Dewakan can easily beat some of the Michelin starred restaurants hands down. Chef Darren's creativity with local ingredients, whilst staying true to his Asian roots and elevation in the composition of both in every single dish is remarkable to say the least. Don't skimp or worry bout your diet or whatever - just go for the 10 course dinner. You won't regret it!
The Village House: "A diamond in the middle of nowhere"We stayed here to enjoy a relaxed couple of days after a demanding tour theough malaysia and Borneo and though we have stayed at some of the fanciest and most luxurios hotels in the world we have to admit that the village house is one of the best accomodations we have stayed at. Sure it isn't a five star hotel with such amenities as flat screen tv's, tennis courts, jacuzzis and sorts but it makes up for it by being charming, romantic and being well taken care of. The house itself is as beautiful as it gets and gives you a 'home' feeling right from the start. You are welcomed by the manager herself and she takes care of your every need. If there is anything just let her know and she will find a way to wirl it out for you. Sort of like a good spirit. The girls are really nice as well and take good care of the facilities. The rooms are very well maintained and will be cleaned up twice daily. The food is (compared to malaysian standards) a bit pricey (but compared to western standards still ok) but soooo worth it! We can barely remember having had better asian food than the local Bidayuh cuisine. True, there isn't much you can do or explore around the village house but if you plan on a relaxing couple of days by the pool, maybe read a book then this is the place to go. My husband still claims its 'the best hotel/b&b i've ever stayed at'. We simply loved it!!
