The Cabochon Hotel: "Excellent + cozy"

Review by: Jackie C | Source: Trip Advisor
Well-appointed, comfortable and quiet. Probably the best hotel we stayed in during our month in Asia. A wonderful little hideaway amidst the madness of Bangkok's 10 million noise-makers. Don't sleep on the restaurant, either. It's quiet but truly exceptional.

Chakrabongse Villas: "Bangkok’s best kept secret hotel"

Review by: Tripp H | Source: Trip Advisor
I only knew about this hotel due to the history of the Chakrabongse family, and therefore really wanted to stay there. Quite frankly it feels that you are staying in a private house in the epicentre of old Bangkok rather than a hotel. We stayed in the garden room, and even had friends over for dinner on the terrace for one of the nights. I wish I could afford to stay here every time I am in BKK, but think I will just have to settle for when I want to treat myself (and the wife !) to something special. absolutely brilliant place to stay.

Supanniga Eating Room: "Top Thai ~ without a doubt"

Review by: 763Kiwi_traveller007 | Source: Trip Advisor
"My only disappointment is that it took me so long to experience this treasure of a restaurant. It’s world class, not only in its delivery of exceptional Thai food but it’s down to earth nature. One for a repeat visit at every opportunity and I’ve been enjoying Thai cuisine for 30 years. Full marks to the owners, a wonderful gastronomic experience. Sorry for the limited images as I was too busy enjoying it all. Authentic Thai"

Kinabalu Park: "Amazing view, cooling and great experience"

Review by: Felicia T | Source: Trip Advisor
"I need to be at this place every year as the experiences were really great, the air much fresher compared to the city, amazing view, it was really chilling at that time about 17-19 degrees at night, but we were enjoying every moment of it. The Liwagu restaurant food was getting better compared to the last few years, the menu has been extended. However, the cakes and muffins could be better as I had last year, this year it wasn't that inviting. The next day I still see those cakes and muffins exactly at the counter, remain ""untouchable"". There are portions of the restaurant under maintenance and a huge Christmas tree is going to set up. You must visit this place for Christmas. The buffet for dinner and breakfast is ok just that it really needs some improvement to the taste. It can be much better! Last year the TV was really blurry due to the reception, I guess. But this year was better. The hotel room was clean, really comfy bed with extra blankets and pillows, really appreciate that due to the coldness. I have also forgotten 2 of my kids' jacket at the hotel, however, the ""lost and found"" team immediately took action. I have these jackets courier back to me. Really appreciate the staff effort to do extra miles for the guest. Thanks. Shall see you guys next year!"

Sukoon Houseboat: "Perfect luxurious houseboat, great service, food and location."

Review by: HKTRsTravels | Source: tripadvisor.com
We booked the suite at the back of the boat which was very quiet. Babu the waiter was fantastic. The food was really great, had the best momos (even in Nepal/Tibet they are soggy and poor quality). The little motor boat to take us to and from the shore was perfect. Definitely take a little Shikara for an hour's boat ride. Take time to relax and enjoy the houseboat though. Good book and some Kashmiri tea, perfect.

Mrauk U Princess Resort: "Peaceful, very interesting"

Review by: ludlbk | Source: Trip Advisor
"The resort had just reopened after the rainy season and therefore there were not yet many guests. I find the property really beautiful, service was very attentive and the food delicious. Sightseeing in Mrauk Oo is best done with a guide. The pagodas are all within a relatively short distance from the resort (about 2 - 3 miles), the very interesting excursion to the Chin villages takes about 3 hours (car and boat). Personally, and like some other guests, I found Mrauk Oo more interesting than Mandalay. If you don't come with a guide, the resort can arrange the sightseeing for you. Prices are a bit higher than one might expect, but as this is one of the poorest states in the country, the resort has to order many supplies from Yangon to be able to deliver a high standard of service. Some of the staff are more proficient in English than others, but there is not much opportunity in the region to speak English. They are very keen to learn more and engaging them in short conversations, will be very helpful to improve their language skills. My stay was very peaceful, I really enjoyed the excellent service, the delicious food and the very interesting sightseeing,"

Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Blue Heaven"

Review by: aqob | Source: Trip Advisor
We loved everything about the Mansion. The incredible story of its history and renovation, the beautiful rooms and the overwhelming sense of being in a cocoon. Add the lovely breakfast offerings and the sensational food at Indigo and it feels totally indulgent. But for us the crowning glory was the people. From the energetic and inspirational owner to Daniel the manager through to housekeeping, everyone was delightful, engaging and had a strong customer focus. Nothing was too much trouble for the team and they were always looking for ways to make our stay even better. This is a top class business and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Chakrabongse Villas: "Wonderful Oasis in the heart of Old Bangkok"

Review by: Arturmaks | Source: Trip Advisor
"What a wonderful place. Bangkok was supposed to be a place where we adjusted to the time difference in Thailand - but actually loved our experience here - and much of it is thanks to our expereience at the Chakrabongse Villas. Now don't get me wrong - I gave it 5 stars because I can't give 4.5 - but this really is a lovely property and so close to many of the important sites here in the city. Our experience here in Bangkok got off on the wrong foot - but the Villas made it right almost instantly. Our prearranged driver was a no-show at the airport - apparently due to an accident. When we called the hotel, they had a new driver to pick us up within 15 minutes. Upon our arrival at the hotel, our room was ready - and that at around 8 in the morning on a Sunday. We deeply appreciated being able to check in and shower. The room was quite lovely. On the second floor overlooking a beautiful fountain and tropical garden. THe large king size bed was remarkably comfortable and the room was very well appointed and spacious. Huge bathroom and shower. The room also had a large balcony with a queen size bed, a table and chairs as well as 2 loungers. We used all of this during our three day stay. We also enjoyed the INCREDIBLE food here. Breakfasts were delicious - but the dinners were out of this world. Wonderful Thai cuisine overlooking the river and the some of the beautiful temples here in Bangkok. The remarkably courteous staff took great care of us. Whether it was arranging fantastic tours of the temples and palaces or going to the floating market. All was done with remarkable ease and courtesy. I would highly recommend this wonderful property. It truly is an oasis in the heart of the city. It was a great opening to our 2 week Thailand experience."

Satri House: "Authentic Experience"

Review by: gfinchina | Source: Trip Advisor
"Satri House delivers on its promise of being ""a historic destination, a unique design"". The original house was run as a hotel since 2002 and was extended in 2008 reflecting the original architecture. We stayed over Songkran for 4 nights and were warmly welcomed by Jacques Mury (General Manager) and Navinda Imbubpa (Guest Experience Manager). On arrival to the room, we were impressed by the handwritten welcome note from Jacques. Whilst it is true that the hotel is located close to a fairground (the source of techno music correctly referred to in the previous review), we understand that Luang Prabang is always tranquil and that the volume we experienced was limited to this New Year festival only. We reflected on the importance of a pre-visit study. Notwithstanding this, Satri House is an amazing hotel. The renovation mirrors the original house perfectly. The Satri House team is attentive and caring. Key takeaways: # the staff is incredibly warm and greet you with sincerity # the housekeeping and gardener teams are amazing # the breakfast is plentiful. We recommend the freshly made noodle soup # the restaurant is terrific. We ate in many restaurants during our visit and will review them separately. We found the quality of the food at the Satri House restaurant to be equal to our better dining experiences # we love the two pools. Whilst we agree that the main pool could do with more lounges, we note that there are additional lounges at the second pool # the hotel is not located in the centre of the (small) city of Luang Prabang. It is in fact a 15-20 min walk to the city centre. The hotel does provide complimentary lockable bicycles with baskets that will get you there in 5-8 minutes One suggestion is to resolve the positioning of the Google Maps location pin. I am confident that when return to Satri House outside of the New Year festival, we will rate our experience as excellent."
