Sapa is a small town on the Hoang Lien Son range of mountains in North Vietnam, near the border of Yunnan, China. This is where the Fan Si Pan - the country's highest peak -is located. Back in 1922, the French colonialists made Sapa a hill station to escape the summer hit. The region is home to different ethnic tribal groups: the Hmong, Dao, Tay, Giay and Xa Pho. Every Sunday the Bắc Hà market bursts into life, as hundreds of traders from all tribes descend on the market, with an explosion of colours from their traditional costumes and fabrics. The valley offers magnificent rice terraces carved in the hills and still farmed today as they have been for centuries. The whole area is blessed with awe-inspiring natural beauty. This journey will make you discover remote northern Vietnam within 4 days of excursion and adventure showcasing cultural diversity, jungles, rivers and mountains, while supporting the local community at the same time.
